1. Polls?
Ypip ,   Canada   (02.05.09)
Next week ELECTIONS will reflect a more comprehensive approach.
2. Israel knew Hamas would gain support from this.
James Hovland   (02.05.09)
You can't bomb the hate out of people, you can only bomb it into them. The sad part is that, I think Israel knows this. Israel doesn't want peace, they want time to expand settlements. Better keep your officials close to home. They are wanted as war criminals elsewhere.
3. What can one conclude from these numbers?
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (02.05.09)
The most obvious, of course, is that our ''peace process'' with Abbas is a total waste of time. He has little support even in the West Bank. Only some 13% of Palestinians trust him making him little better than Olmert who no one trusts. Hamas would win an election easily. That means for sure we would have another Gaza in the West Bank. That is not a very pleasant prospect. This is also rather bad news for the delusional supporters of the two-state solution. It is, of course, also the reason so many voices call for some recognition of Hamas. They care nothing much about reality or the real nature of Hamas & not a whit about consequences. But, of course, this is exactly what they did with the PLO & the result was a failed Oslo peace that brought only terrorism & violence. It is a sad fact of life that the Palestinian population supports extremism no matter the cost to themselves. What do these numbers tell you about our own politicians? Obviously, Ms Livni is way off track & has been pursuing an illusion. She has zero judgement. It doesn't say much for Mr Netanyahu either, however, who believes that a better economy will bring us any result. This is obviously not the case. I won't comment on Labour or Meretz since they are not even here on Earth on this question - none of their positions depend on facts anyway so they will just do what they always do & ignore the numbers. Basically, the best thing to do with this report is to shove it down Mr Mitchell's throat since it makes his ''mission'' a failure before it even starts. Policies that ignore reality, no matter how often repeated can only fail.
4. palestinains defy even pavlovian responses to harm
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.05.09)
which is why they are such an incredible living disaster. why feel sorry for whatever ill befalls them as a result of their choices?

6. "polls"
tom ,   toronto, canada   (02.05.09)
what a useless waste of time and ink! the palestinian anarchy is not a free and democratic society - it is run by armed terrorist groups, so the only choice is between the terrorist in the business suit and the terrorist in the pyjamas. and supporting the wrong group can get you killed, as fatah members in gaza found out. such "polling" is a charade, to maintain the fiction of a palestinian democracy, for western media consumption. the truth is that the palestinians are ruled (i.e. "occupied") by terrorist groups, with israel's consent, thanks to oslo. the only thing this "poll" proves is that abbas' support is weak, otherwise why would so many in the west bank have risked their lives to tell the pollsters that they don't "support" him? but the most interesting number is that 2/3 of gazans, in spite of hamas' propaganda and intimidation, realize that israeli bombs falling on their heads mean that israel won, and were willing to say so. it's clear that "practical lessons" work. the rest were probably on hamas' payroll.... in the meantime, there are at least 800 fewer armed hamas "supporters" in gaza, thanks to operation cast lead, and tons less ammunition. perhaps the idf needs to "boost" them some more?
7. #2 you are fool
josh ,   teaneck usa   (02.05.09)
you idiot if you actually read the article you would see that the people "who got bombed" meaning the gazans actually support hamas alot less now. (it is only in the west bank where israel did not bomb that support for hamas has grown). therefore the the hate you mention is much stronger in the people who didnt get bombed. of course facts are never important to anti semitesl ike you
8. To Terry - Eilat
Sami H ,   Gaza   (02.05.09)
This is the fact and it will remain so. The resistance mvements headed by HAMAS is the real power in palestine. So, israeli leaders , whatever their position, right or left or inbetween, must negotiate directly with HAMAS leaders and not ignoring them. HAMAS leaders are very pragmatic and we are sure they are representing the real interests of palestinian people. We hope that israeli people will use this historical moment for ashieving a lasting peace based on justice and our right to be free in our country .
9. #3 israel got jews out of gaza 3 years ago, settlements
(02.05.09)
were destroyed by gazans. shame government didn't move arab hamas supporteres from israel instead of the jews they got out. stupid government. anyway, you should keep up with the news rather then with propaganda
10. VOTE FOR HAMAS VOTE FOR YOUR OWN DEATH
Petra ,   USA   (02.05.09)
BUT, WHY CONFUSE ANY PAL W/ THE TRUTH?
11. #8 Sami, Gaza.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (02.05.09)
I never doubted this was the case - who except Western morons would support Abbas? This was the underlying mistake that turned Oslo into a fiasco. You can't turn terrorists, thugs, crooks, & incompetents into a ''peace partner'' even assuming that the lie about Abbas being a moderate were true, which it isn't anyway. But I hate to disappoint you. There is not a chance in hell of any worthwhile negotiations with Hamas. As was the case with the PLO & Fatah, you can't turn terrorists into peace partners, particularly of the religious fanatic type. You can be assured that Hamas will not be ignored. Eventually, they will be dealt with & the survivors will be forced out of Gaza. Please do not ask me about the ''interests of the Palestinian people'' - it is a subject which leaves me cold. I quite frankly don't care about the subject ,my only interest being our security regardless of consequences to Palestinians. The historical moment that you speak of came & went in1948 & subsequent history has only confirmed the events of that time.
12. As predicted, Palestinians make the wrong choice AGAIN!
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (02.05.09)
Here is what I wrote only last week: === "They never failed to chose the wrong leaders, make the wrong decisions and go with the wrong partners. Their current situation is their own doing: in '48 they listened to Syria, Jordan and Egypt and ran away, leaving Israel in order to make way for the "victorious Arab Armies"! WRONG CHOICE! They were tempted by their racism and hatred agains Jews, and by their Arab "friends". They became refugees, hated and despised by everybody. Encouraged by Syria, they tried to kill King Abdallah of Jordan (after he hosted them!). WRONG CHOICE! The King killed several tens of thousands and kicked them out to Lebanon. There they raped the Christians andcarried terror attacks against Israel. WRONG DECISION! Israel kiced them out of Lebanon and Hezbollah (Shiites) became the force while the Sunnis (palestinians) became the minority. They breached the Madrid Peace Accord after thinking that they were strong enough to destroy Israel - WRONG DECISION! They got kicked in the balls and their lives became more miserable! They rejected the Camp David Peace Accord and started another Itdifadah. WRONG CHOICE! They lost ANY credibility they had with the Israeli public and they got their ass kicked relentlessly ever since. They joined Saddams invading forces in Kuwait, raping, murdering and stealing from their former Kuwaiti employers! Talk about snakes biting the hand that feeds them. WRONG CHOICE! Americans kicked Saddam out of Kuwait and Kuwaitis kicked the palestinians out of Kuwait and back to their hellhole. The entire Arab world saw how treacerous, disloyal and barbaric palestinians really are - even with their own "brothers"! They elected Hamas in Gaza. WRONG CHOICE! Hamas murdered several thousand Gazans just because they were not its suporters, and ever since made the lives of the citizens a living hell by forcing fanatical Islam laws onto everybody (or else!). In addition they lost everything and then some when Israel decided that 8 years of 7000 Qassams and incessant terror attacks were enough reason to kick them in the balls - although some of the World clearly would have liked to see more dead Jews in the process. Interesting what choice they will make now, when Hamas is weak, and after witnessing what kind of life Hamas can bring to them. I bet that AGAIN they will make the WRONG CHOICE! " === And predictibly, they do make the WRONG CHOICE AGAIN!
13. #2. Applies to Israelis too! Can't force them to disappear!
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (02.05.09)
You cannot bomb us out of Israel. You cannot terrorize us and hope we will be surrendering our ancestral homes without a fight. On the contrary - your combined hatred only focuses us and makes us well aware of the rampant racism and primitivism which drives our enemies. The sad part is that the Palestinians and you "James", know this. Palestinains do not want peace - they want Israel to disappear and the Jews thrown out into the sea. They want to danceon rooftops as Jewish blood is spilled (as they do every time Jews are murdered). Their official Charter says it and they act according to it - even you, "James" cannot deny it. After all, your palestinain friends say it - are you implying that they are lying? While our leaders travel the world and spread our word, Hamas leaders are afraid to leave their holes in the ground. They are officially declared terrorists and wanted worldwide. They'd be arrested on sight, unless Israel helps them meet their 72 virgins first! And would you care to name a few of our "officials" who are wanted as "war criminals"? NOT ONE of our leaders has been officially charged with this preposterous libel, despite your racist hysterical efforts to make that hapen. And I recommend that you DO hold your breath until that happens. We may get lucky and you may choke yourself to death!
14. wow, what a shock
jj   (02.05.09)
once again, the "lets teach them a lesson they wont forget" doesnt break the will of a people or support for a regime, only strengthens it. do you learn nothing from history?
15. to #13
Adam ,   USA   (02.05.09)
I hate it Israelis talk about ancestral homes. If you want historical facts and go back to King David--the Israelite stole it from the orginal inhabitants who were there before. Then the Bible told you to smite them and kill them all--the first Holocaust.
16. Hamas...we're not all idiots!!!Propaganda boosts your
Maria ,   MD   (02.05.09)
support. Yes, using those innocent Palestinians[you killed them, then blame it on Israel].
17. #15
jj   (02.05.09)
ah yes adam, i completely agree, but here is the usual response to that - it was given to david by god. it says so in the bible. i dont suppose those writing that book perhaps might have had a vested interest in inventing for their followers a justification for widespread pillage and slaughter.?
18. jj & Adam , I think we are waiting our time
European ,   Earth   (02.06.09)
I think a lot of these GuYS work for the arms industry, its a big industry in israel, and at the moment their struggling. They have to increase demand, or they will have to get a real job.
