Shimon ,   Cincinnati, USA   (02.12.09)
There are very few differences between fanatics. Whether it's Torah or Sha'riyah Law, the fanatic remains the fanatic. If you want that, Rabbi, do us a favor and help us avoid "sinat ahim": move somewhere else and don't afflict your fanaticism on us, OK?
6. The most important thing is our land
Steve   (02.12.09)
National Union and Habayit Hayehudi specifically ran on platforms pledging no territorial compromise. Shas remained in this traitorous Kadima government even as the party was negotiating half of Israel with Israel's Fatah jihadist enemies. How can there be unity when religious parties put government graft ahead of Torah and principle?
7. jewish laws
enrique ,   miami U.S.A   (02.12.09)
it's about time the religious jewish parties unite and go to the k as a super power, enough of the crooked juges and mazzouz hypocrite double talker this union will save israel of the situation it went in because of lack of thorah, hope this is for real
8. Complete joke
Daniel Breslauer ,   Jerusalem   (02.12.09)
This "Sanhedrin" joke is seen as a failed Purim joke by serious religious people. I spoke with Rabbi Yosef Sholom Eliashiv's personal assistent, who told me that Rav Eliashiv never approved of this nor gave any support in any way. I also spoke with a leading member of the Badatz of the "Edah Haredit", a close colleague of the deceased Rabbi Moshe Halberstam (whom, the Sanhedrin claims, supported them). He told me that Rav Halberstam never supported them and that these guys would never get any support from the "Edah Haredit" (as you write it). I spoke to several others also about it. Some of the "rabbis" involved in this "Sanhedrin" joke have nearly been excommunicated by the normal chareidi world. This includes their leader, Adin Steinsaltz, Yoel Schwartz, Yisrael Ariel, and a few more of these clowns. Anyone who takes them seriously makes a big mistake and should be prosecuted for slander against the religious population.
9. IN THE NAME OFF .....!
Jan   (02.12.09)
The day the sanhedrin fulfill their dreams, is the day I will leave this lan of ours; as it would be identical to the ideology of a taliban, hamas, al-qaeda, hezbollah, and all the god fearing "fanatics". Their demands are the same: void ALL legislation that do not conform to " their scriptures, holy book, etc., IE: control education (we know the resuts) -- control the interior, -- control the "holy army" -- and calling on all parties that represent " god fearing " voters to unite (sounds familiar). The only item not on the list of "muslims Inc.", the elimination of non believers,is of course not on the sanhedrin list. I wonder what they are going to do with non-believers? Let's remember that while Hitler killed 6 million Jews, it's" religion" that delivered the "goods", and "non believers" who fought back. All the masses asked from HIM was to deliver them from the slaughterhouse. We all know how attentive HE was to their plight. Back to religion: beggars of humanity "par excellence",- no work, - no contribution to mankind, - revel in ghetto life, - self sagregation, - no equality fo women, - dress code "croquemort style".
10. has never been granted legitimacy by the State.
Baruch ,   Tel Aviv   (02.12.09)
...or from other Rabbis for that matter. Shas and UTJ both treat this self-styled "sanhedrin" as a joke. The overwhelming majority of Torah-observant and G-d-fearing Jews stay far away from this group, who represent no one but themselves. The Neturei Karta are more Jewish than these guys.
11. These parties are DIVIDING, HARMING Jewish People! NOT G-dly

12. This, like Taliban etc. is aggressive push for patriarchy
& is very dangerous! ,   ha'olam v'hashamayim   (02.12.09)
B"H Next they will be allowing married men to sexually violate single women/girls, while murdering an agudah woman by crushing her slowly with stones because she danes to fall in love 20 years after her no-good religious fanatic husbandleaves her to screw any single woman he chooses while refusing to "give" the wife a divorce (and/or blackmailing her for $$$ in order to be "free"). This is just some of the evil and hypocracy of the worst, anachronistic patriarchical aspects of how our religion has been (mis)interpretted. Oh, but then I forgot, the ultra-ortho, all male rabbinute family law hegemony already allows all of this to happen - all but the stoning. And G-d forbid that should be allowed!!! Let these crazies meet their match/bretheren of taliban, al q'eda, and the likes of "bishop" williamson, and leave the rest of G-d's humane creation to live in peace, dignity, mutual repsect, and true goodness/G-dliness. All non-ultra fanatical rabbis and Jewish leaders must speak and act out against this dangerous movement, the seduction of the forces of constriction against the generous-spirited force of expansiveness and love that is G-d.

14. Hey DAniel, since when is RAV STEINSALTZ a joke?
Scott Marino   (02.12.09)
I'm sure he knows much more Torah and can apply it better to the world than your parasitic rabbis who endorse stealing from hard working poor people in this state. so much for "daas torah"
15. garden of eden

why not dig out avraham burial place in hebron and check it out to see who is in the grave,i bet it,s empty end of religion and the myth of the chosen people
16. AKA the InsaneHedrin
Marvin ,   Rehovot   (02.12.09)
These jokers, and yes if Adin Steinzaltz sits with them he is also a joker, are a group who cling to a fairy tale that can never be verified because Rav Halberstam passed away. They are self appointed and mean well but live in a fantasy world. They are not even close tothe stature of Rav Eliyashiv, or Rav Wasner or Rav Ovadiah They have not been officially recognized and though they mean well they are not practical

Walter Lane ,   Beverly Hills, USA   (02.13.09)
Is this anything like Sharia over secular? Sure sounds like it. And I'm pro-Israeli! What will the anti-Semites make of this?
22. Sanhedrin? What Sanhedrin?
Jake   (02.14.09)
The Jewish people do not have a Sanhedrin, and have not had one for almost 2000 years. Tomorrow, I can proclaim myself Cohen Gadol, but that doesn't necessarily make it so.
23. Who is paying this "Sanhedrin"?
Rabbi Omar ,   Novo Talibansk   (02.14.09)
24. Will the REAL Torah be honored?
Walter H R Schwenk ,   Pine Grove, PA 17963   (02.14.09)
There is a real torah from Sinai, which has been committed to writing for 3500 years; it can unify us all. There is also a pretend "torah", which in reality exalts itself against the revelation from Sinai. We must not add to, nor diminish from YHWH's word. Beware the traditions of men.
25. Jewish Commonwealth
Gedalia ,   Australia   (02.14.09)
There is only one Jewish nation in the world. We have existed in Galut for 2000 years so that we can rebuild our nation. This is reishit smichat geulatenu. Let the Jewish State be governed on the Jewish values and laws of the Torah, and return the crown of Jewish kingship to the Jewish people. What is the point of having a Jewish State if we deny ourselves the opportunity to be Jewish?
26. What
Phillip ,   NYC   (02.14.09)
Sanhedrin.... what Sanhedrin... did I just wake up and miss something? These people are just plain nuts.
27. Rabbinic Fascism!!!
Ben ,   Monroe USA   (02.14.09)
Since the Rebbe wants to promote fascism under the cover of religion, I suggest he leave Israel and return to any nation like Iran. He would fit like a glove with those who would destroy true Judaism. We see quite clearly how religious fanatics operate. It isn't pretty.
28. Sounds fantastic: Sanhedrinwill service Israel & the World

You living down unther will not suffer from it . You will stay FREE to live as you want . So don't talk about "our country" , your country is Australia
30. Religious Law
Daniel Levan ,   Los Angeles, USA   (02.15.09)
We have seen what religion based laws can do to a country and its people, just look at Saudi Arabia or Iran. We CANNOT allow ourselves to go down the same path as them and create laws based on religion. Jewish, Islamic, or Christian; no country should base its laws on religion.
