It's all Labor's fault    Dror Nissan
1. Wrong. The reason for the Left's failure is itself
Its basic tenets are based on false premises and lies. Until it adapts to reality instead of claiming the victim mantra, it will continue to fail and fail and fail again.
Jake   (02.13.09)
2. It's always the other guys' fault, isn't it?
Face it. The left blew it. They weren't mentally prepared for Palestinian violence and revanchism and couldn't recover. Learn your lessons, come up with a plan that makes sense in the face of Arab and Islamist madness, then go back to the voters.
Scott ,   USA   (02.13.09)
3. Please don't claim that "Israel chose fascism".
Israel has enough enemies trying to make it out to be a fascist state already. Claiming, "Israel chose to go right; it chose conservatism and fascism, and it did so in an unequivocal and blatant manner" gives anti-Zionists and anti-Semites weapons they can use. In addition, it damages the cause of unity and civil debate in Israel to say such awful things about Israel's voters. I think you are probably just bitter about the election results, but you still should think twice before you say something like "Israel choose fascism", unless you have VERY strong proof (which I don't believe you have).

4. labor's fault
It is a widespread malpractice among leftists to call "fascists" everyone who does not share their opinions. It is not democratic and not moral. This form of false intellectual superiority is really unpleasant. Aron Leoni

5. Labor is an elitist party
when labor will become a popular party for all the etnics groups in israel he will win the election but rather he is a party of a clan ! labor should be ineterested about the wellbeing of its cityzen that's mean dealing with all socioal economic problem in israel and not only caring for the palestinians !!

6. Notice the total avoidence of fact.
The rejection of the Left couldn't have anything to do with them being always WRONG, could it? Can anyone point out an instance of a successful Leftist idea? On security, on relations with the Arabs, in economic policy, can anyone point out a single success? The Left was rejected because of consistent FAILURE. Only people with amnesia can still fall for all the BS slogans of the Left. This article avoids all specifics, all details - of necessity, I might add, since specifics, details, actual examples, in other words, FACTS have little or no place in Leftist dialogue these days. My advice to Mr Dror Nissan - just face the fact that you were WRONG, that your policies did not work, that your ideas were seriously flawed. But, of course, if you followed my advice, you wouldn't be Leftists any more, would you?

7. Left+Shas=59
What about: Kadima (28) Labor (13) Shas (11) Hadash (4) Meretz (3) Total (59) Minority Government that could work with only two outside votes from either Balad or UAL. I bet the Arabs would rather have Shas (Sephardis) than have Lieberman/Likud in Government.

8. THE LEFT HATES DEMOCRACY AND WANTS TO RUN A DICTATORSHIP!
THE LEFT IS SICK!   (02.13.09)
9. #3
FYI, Y'Israel Beiteinu, is a National Socialist party, it's just the facts as they are. Sorry it doesn't fit into your rosy coloured glasses when you look at Israel. Look at the previous article here about Blacks being banned in certain areas of Ashkelon, and you'll see that Israel has many issues to solve before they can even think of the Palesitinian issues.
(02.13.09)
10. Exactly right
Labor would not be where it is had it not lusted after power rather than acted like a political party, with a set of goals and principles. Peres is the main culprit. It has no one but itself to blame for the fascistic-type government about to be formed.
Amos ,   USA   (02.13.09)
11. unrealistic left
The left does not know how to deal with fundamentalist evil.Evil doers cannot negotiate away from their given position. Barak failed in the eyes of the electorate because he was afraid of winning the war and ended up a loser to Hamas.
noel ,   Israel   (02.13.09)
12. When Labor will return to its roots of being
a Jewsih Zionist Party of caring Yiddish Yidden then it will even get my vote. Think back to Levi Eshkol, a true mensh with yiddish seicel who had a yiddishe neshoma. He was a true Zionist with a true Jewish feeling for eretz yisroel. What we have today from both the right and the left are behamos, crooks and schnorrers who want it all for themselves and their friends. That is what is undoing Israel today. Till such time that Israel is inhabited by Yidden with true ahavas Yisroel, the STATE will wither and possibly die. We have to get back to being a Jewish country run by and for Jews.

14. #7 some comments
Arab parties and Hadash can't support Labor because Labor shot dead 12 Arab citizens in 2000. Arab parties and Hadash can't support Kadima because that is the party they accuse of genocide in "Cast Lead" and that includes figures like Hanegbi. Arab parties and Hadash can't support Kadima because this whole week Livni sucked up to Lieberman. Shas can't support Livni because half her campaign was inciting Shas-hatred. Meretz can't support Kadima because of Friedmann and Hanegbi.

15. #7, Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about
Realilty Break: First of all, there is no such thing as a "Left Block" in Israel. Kadima is not part of the Left, and the Left should stop trying to hide behind it. Kadima is dominated by former Likudniks, including Livni, and its critical mass is to the right of center. I remind you that the Arab Parties are BOYCOTTING Livni. Second, if you knew anything about Shas or Sephardics in general, you would know that they they hold a greater grudge against the Arabs and are less likely to agree to make territorial concessions than the Ashkenazi elites. Arabs are much better off with the Koolaid-drinking Askhenazi Leftist idealists in Meretz who still believe that pigs can fly.

16. #10, Keep clicking over that commemorative Obama mousepad
Israelis have to wake up every morning to a different reality than you do, and the old Leftist slogans and ideology just won't cut it any more.
Jake   (02.14.09)
17. #9, "Just the facts as they are." Oh really?
You haven't got a clue. I am not a fan of Israel Beiteinu, but "just the facts as they are" is everything that Liberman has been saying thus far. Name a single charge that Liberman has made about the behavior of Hamas and the Israeli Arabs that is not true. What the hell do his FACTUAL statements about disloyalty and the need for minimum loyalty have to do with the racial-hierarchy pseudo-theories of the Nazi party?
Jake   (02.14.09)
18. israeli goverment
As usual Israel is going to be ruled by one or two small religious parties that will join the co-olition depending on what laws they can change.....haven't you guys realised yet its good to be a democracy but sometimes you take it to far which results in so much infighting in the alledged goverment the whole thing falls apart.... how many years till the next election a 1000/1 it wont last the term (yes by the way i lived over there 15 years plus so i do understand the way of life)

19. The problem
You see: labor and kadim got all the votes of bilionairs and milti-millioners. All wealthiest nbhds voted for Labor. BUT there are not so many of these people so Labor went down. Kadima got extreme Left from Meretz, women-feminists, gays, lesbians greens as well usial supporters: corrupt politicians who does not care about ideology. If not for Livni they would had stayed at home.
