1. rrrriiight, help disarm hizbullah...
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.18.09)
we should thank heaven every day that this guy wasn't elected president 4 years ago. too bad we elected his equally pathetic boss this time.
2. Kerry's formula
Brod ,   USA   (02.18.09)
Kerry's simplistic approach of telling the Syrian to stop the arms flow to Hezbollah is like telling a smoker to tell another smoker to stop smoking. My advice to Kerry is do alot more research and reading on the world of the dark forces written by the experts before spewing out some simplistic and naive solutions. He should stay out from playing the role of the State Department. Stop being fooled and manipulated by the Syrian agents in Washington.
3. Another self-important socialist elitist
Terry Chivers   (02.18.09)
Kerry's claim to fame is marrying the leftist looney Heinz heiress who gives most of her money to anti-semitic "charities" like the Ford Foundation.
4. Optimistic Nobodie's Boisterous Dark Comedy
Sandman ,   Ann Arbor Michigan   (02.18.09)
If you believe your rheotric will cause Assad to change his "spots" then your deluding yourself Senator..... Syria is Just a disaster waiting to occur by some incident that they will approve of but underestamating the Isreali reasponse.
5. #1 - Fred Phelps from the Westboro Baptist
AY_Lamb ,   USA   (02.18.09)
also spewed words of contempt towards Sen. Kerry and Gen. Clark actually because of their "Jewish ancestry" and he referred to them both as "Terds" and of course the good WBC supported the good reverend shaman bush. You are either a secret bushite like the plumber Joe or Mike the Mullah, either way your criticism is as ridiculous as the phelps-miester.
6. The idiot needs to get back in his swift boat and leave
zionist forever   (02.18.09)
Kerry really is an idiot if he thinks Assad can or would even try to disarm Hizbullah. They are so close it would be considered treason if Assad decided to submit to Americas will and he would end up in a grave next to his father. He also uses Hizbullah as the unofficial Syrian army. If Assad has a problem with Israel he gets Hizbullah to attack from Lebanon meaning that officialy Syria is not involved and Israel has no justifictaion to attack Syria. Southern Lebanon is to Hizbullah what Gaza is to Hamas, they are the bosses and nobody can tell them what to do. Time for the US to stay out of Middle Eastern politics, they don't understand the culture or that sometimes American solutions make matters worse. Iraq wasn't ready for liberation, that would have come when there was revolution which came from the streets of Bagdad not from Washington. Today the US attempt to get rid of the dictaitor and bring democracy and peace has backfired miserably. Let Israel solve its problems with its enemies its own way and if the arabs don't like their leaders and their policies let them start their own revolutions and let the US worry about sorting out their own domestic problems instead of trying to decide the future of the Middle East.
7. Kerry
David ,   USA, exile   (02.19.09)
I am a viet nam vet. I once personally ask Ho Chi Mein to please send his personal car and driver to take me to Siagon for a night out on the town. He jumped at my request. He didn't seem to mind at all that I was a Marine rifleman. Tell Mr. Kerry if he needs some advice on how to make these things happen I would be glad to help in exchange for an exciting swift boat ride. Mr. Kerry, be very careful as you visit Damascus. I hear it is due for a destructive act that will change it into a ruinous heap. HAHAHAHAHAHAH
8. Syria Will Blow It Again
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (02.19.09)
Obama is extending his hand to the Syrians who will undoubtedly choose the wrong side once again. The Syrians will succeed in deceiving themselves into thinking that they are deceiving everyone else, which is what they do best. As far as disarming Hezbollah, dream on! It won't take Obama long to figure Syria out.
9. To Kerry: Please Go Home
Dav Lev ,   Burbank. CAUSA   (02.19.09)
Syria w/o Egypt cannot make war. Egypt w/o Syria would have a hard time. Iran w/o Syria and Egypt, can nuke Israel within 1 to 3 yrs. It already has one bomb's fissionable material. Syria has agreements with Iran, if either is in a war with Israel. Syria attacked Israel in 48, 67, 73..it arms and encourages it's surrogages in Lebanon and Hamastan. Why should Israel not laugh at Kerry..a proven disaster and frankly, traitor (see Vietnam). Several friends of mine were in that war, a few died, others wounded. They wanted to win it. Thanks to Kerry and leftist Hanoi Jane..we ran with our tails...Okay, so now Vietnam is a Communist nation. But ask South Vietnames in So. Calif about what happened to them. To Kerry AND Mitchell. go home., replaced by John Bolton and Joe Lieberman. real patriots..not foolish wimps and dissenters.
10. one must tell these useless senators
(02.19.09)
that arabs do not operate during negotiations as western democratic countries do. how hard is this to comprehend. if kerry want to bring syria out and consolidate usa ties with it, kerry must understand that doing so will dethrone the alwait regime in syria. this regime survives only because there is a conflict in the region. conflict keeps asad in power. conflict gives this despotic vile regime its heart and breath. this is what kerry and the usa do n ot understand and this is what israel understands only too well. once asad americanizes, the muslim brotherhood in syria and the common arab on the street in syria will rebel and dethrone him, calling him a traitor to the palestinian cause and the arab umma dogma. the usa, if it wants to comprehend how to deal with syria, it has foirst to read a wonderful book by BARRY RUBIN. it's called THE TRUTH ABOUT SYRIA. what usa doesn't understand is that the syrian regime is 100 % better than the islamic brotherhood that wanted to topple the alwaites since forever. only asad, like sadam hussein, can keep the masses fearful, obedient and unrebbeling on the streets, ensuring his regime will not be overthrown and making it impossible for a more extremist and violent regime such as the muslim brotherhood to come into power and unseat him. israel likes the regime status quo in syria very much because they don't like having the muslim brotherhood on their border because they are identical to hamas in their violence and ideology. right now and probably in the future, asad is extremely afraid to attack israel to get the golan heights back. he never will attack because another defeat for him means that his regime is a goner and he knows this. there has been peace on the syrian border now for 30 years without giving the golan back. let it remain so. the usa must understand that it must keep the sadat regime in power, yet draw it in with everything in its power in terms of economic incentives and political connections to get it away from iran's influence. the usa must make sure that it gives syria something iran can't give it, something syria can't do without....such as protection for its regime. this asad cannot live without.
11. There is good reason why Kerry was so soundly defeated
Christopher ,   Boston, MASS USA   (02.19.09)
Even the most left-wing Americans realized what a disaster he would be in the White House. From his lies about VietNam to his inability to formulate any lasting policy, Kerry strives to be this century's jimmy Carter. PLEASE Syria, keep him!
12. The rule of the Assads is not aimed at improving peace.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (02.19.09)
The terrorist state of Syria has troublesome relations with the international community which blames it for harboring terror organizations and interfering in Lebanon’s eternal affairs, while being strongly influenced by Iran. The Assad family has established a hereditary dynasty shored up by repression within, and confrontation and terror abroad. The rule of the Assads is not aimed at improving the lot of their people or forwarding a particular ideology. They changed ideology from secular Arabism to a seemingly impossible confection of pan-Arabism and Islamist extremism as explained at : http://xrl.us/bjcsd
13. 5 - um
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.19.09)
despite the fact that i have no idea what you're talking about, just so you may understand, i'm against kerry and obama for one simple reason: they are incompetently, pathetically, and embarrassingly clueless about how to deal with terrorists. yeah, i guess that makes me mike the mullah.
14. its real simple M&M
AY_Lamb ,   USA   (02.19.09)
If you love conservatives in America because they are always heaping, praise, support and indeed love on the "Nation" of Israel then you are falling for the oldest trick in the book. It is very simple for them to "Love" Israel you see because that is "them" just look at all their evangelical churches etc etc look at the literary and oratory, look at the titles. The supersessionist dogmas must either A. Eliminate or B. constrain/limit that which they have evolved beyond. Don't fall for the banana in the tail pipe. Plans have been laid to subjugate the "upity" and disobedient "51st State" and guess what it was the Bushies in almost 8 years of orgasmic rapture that formed those plans. Let's hope peaceful events and the goodwill of good men like SEN, Kerry and PRES. Obama prevail.
15. #13 I don't even know why I bother
AY_Lamb ,   USA   (02.19.09)
you are probably sitting there in Nashville, TN or Raleigh NC clutchin your Bible prayin for the rapture. You are probably one a Xitian American that would go into absolute glorious endomorphic overload if there was a mushroom cloud over J'Lem because all the sacred prognostications of your "beloved John" would be true. It isn't going to happen though because I plead the "fifth" column that is. myself and those like me aren't going to let it happen regardless of your vulnerability to simple "sound bites" and "sloganeering"
16. 14, 15 - are you normal?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.19.09)
if you don't know why you bother, then don't.
17. M&M Normal??
AY_Lamb ,   USA   (02.19.09)
if you mean being a bigoted dirt bag? Then nope I am pleased to say that I am not. "Conservatives sit and think, mostly sit" Woodrow Wilson President of the USA
18. 17 - i have to agree with your answer to my question
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.19.09)
since even though your own definition of "normal" is quite unusual, i also am pleased to say that i completely agree with you when you say that you are not normal, in any stretch of what the word "normal" means. at least on this we have common ground.
19. Of all the screwball ideas to come out of Washington....
Douglas Miller ,   Detroit, USA   (02.19.09)
Sen. John Kerry in a high pitched squeeky voice to Syrian tyrant, Assad, "Oh, please, your royal highness, your excellency, your wonderfulness, Please disarm the Hezbollah terrorists. If you do we'll give you candy, and weapons and secret bank accounts. But we know that you want to do this out of the goodness of your heart." The very idea of asking mass murderer and Syrian dictator to disarm his client displays a thought process that is so flawed as to be indicative of a major mental illness. And if begging, bowing and kneeling to Assad doesn't work what else do these qeniuses have up their sleeves? Are they going to take Assad out clubbing and buy him crack?
20. #17 - I 2am please to see that you acknowledge
AY_Lamb ,   USA   (02.19.09)
you are a bigot. 8 years of Bush and his sycophants either 1. Empowered or 2. Enabled extremists of almost every fathomable distinction. Of the Islamic variety you had the validation and growth of AQ, AQI, AQM. AAS, HAMAS, JAM, JAI Al Shabab and Al Awda among many others and the Queda is now a wholly disparate franchised global entrepreneurship and Oh yes who can forget Dokka Umarov and the just recently formed Caucasian Emirate (formerly Chachnya). On the other end of the spectrum you have reemergence of traditionalist like the KKK, Skin Heads, Aryan Nations, and christian identity (who routinely post TBs on here under the disguise of being Jewish), and oh yes who can forget Skokie IL and the American Nazi Party also modernist hate mongers like Storm Front, YLVM, ordo templii orientalis, and many others. Now these neolithic reactionary cretins are befuddled and confused because regardless of their efforts to define "normality" and “intellectualism” as atavistic penchant for contempt and hate the median and broadest swath of the populace seems to have cast off that yoke and are seeking coexistence and mutual accord plus decency. Examine your original post “guy”; if you want to invoke "prayer" and terms like "heaven" I would suggest you daven in gratitude that there are still leaders that can excel without appealing to the lowest common denominator of our inherent primal fear and savagery.
21. #6 I agree
Johnny ,   Beirut, formerly USA   (02.19.09)
I agree with your insightful assessment. I think we agree from two standpoints though. "Time for the US to stay out of Middle Eastern politics, they don't understand the culture or that sometimes American solutions make matters worse. " By this statement, do you mean the US unrelenting military support, political cover at the UN, and billions of taxpayer dollars in direct aid to Israel? If yes, then we are on the same page. If you mean stop meddling with Israel while continuing all this un-questioned support then we have a disagreement. And I do not write this as a Lebanese, but as an American tax payer. My tax dollars pay for your bombs and bullets. They also come with conditions. If you don't agree to the conditions then you should refuse US assistance. After all beggars can not be choosers.
22. 20 - i rest my case
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (02.19.09)
thanks for proving me right while putting on the entertaining side show for everyone. i couldn't have shown your instability without you. cheers.
23. #20 - you are welcome
AY_Lamb ,   USA   (02.19.09)
and what fine attorney you are. Just a regular Hans Michael Frank. "A mind is a terrible thing to waste" do some research before just spouting off - eh!
