Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (02.26.09)
So do I. In Jordan.
2. Libermann
Ridha ,   Tunisia   (02.26.09)
Mr Libermann, who is an immigrant who still speaks russian much better than hebrew wants to expel the real owners of Palestine from their homes!!how funny and how democratic is he!
3. Duh.
Aaron ,   SF, USA   (02.26.09)
Considering "declaring loyalty" is part of the naturalization process to become a citizen in Israel, why would that comment be racist? It's the same in many other countries as well. The more I learn about Lieberman the more I support him.
4. What Liberman "forgot" to tell
Yossi the democrat ,   Bat Yam Israel   (02.27.09)
...That he want to transfer many of the Arabs citenzs of Israel to the West Bank, this is undemocratic and it is a recist ideology. The is not a simple naturalization process for citizenship, the Arabs in Israel are all citizens before Liberman came to Israel. His loyalty means to accept the government policy and idiology or you out, like in ex Soviet Union. Liberman is a true Stalinist who despise democracy and equal rights.
5. #2, You are a Liar.
Jake   (02.27.09)
These are lies what you have written. Lies. And you know it. And this has been the Arab strategy throughout this conflict, for the last 100 years. Lie, deceive, and mislead. Lieberman's platform does not include expelling a single Arab from his/her home. Lieberman wants to create a Palestinian state, but he wants Arab towns in Israel which are not loyal to the Jewish state of Israel to be ceded to Palestinian authority. Israel does not need 5th column. As for the rest of what you wrote, here are some more facts. There is no such a cou ntry as "Palestine", ever, and the "Palestinians" did not historically own the land. So what if Lieberman is an immigrant? He is a Jew returning to his homeland. He has no ties to Russia. Remember, you Arabs invaded in 60 years from Morocco to the Gates of China, by the might of the sword.
6. #4 Yossi, correction - what he wants is to transfer *land*
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (02.27.09)
to the Palestinian Authority - land currently in Israel, that is bordering to the West Bank. Specifically, land which has a Arab majority on it. This he wants to exchange with Jewish majority land areas currently in the West Bank, near the border with Israel proper. So far so good, right? And here's the second catch you quite forgot about - he wants it to be voluntary, but in accordance with his "responsible citizenship" platform - so one is either a loyal and responsible citizen of Israel, or a loyal and responsible citizen of Palestine. But not a thorn in either's side. Israeli Arabs, especially the majority of those living in the Triangle area (the area Lieberman's talking about) don't quite like Israel as the Jewish homeland. So let them stay precisely where they are, land and property rights included, and exchange ID's and passports - then they can live in a country more in accordance with their national aspirations. And Yossi, in a country where the vast majority of citizens who identify themselves as "Arab" also refuse to serve in a national sense, even in National Service as volunteers in schools and hospitals, because that would mean "Normalization"... I'd say Lieberman isn't all that unreasonable, be it in his land swap offers or mandatory National Service for all those not serving in the army. I didn't vote for Lieberman, Yossi. I don't like small parties that mainly get the undecideds to vote for them, which is pretty much what happened with Yisrael Beitenu - but twisting Lieberman's own party manifest and stated goals because you don't like him, to justify said dislike... ...well, that's a bit dishonest, to say the least.
7. Mr. Lieberman .. shame on u .. u donnt have a word
Jalal ,   Gaza   (02.27.09)
8. #4, that is not true
Steve   (02.27.09)
Lieberman does not want to transfer the Arabs anywhere. He won't require any of them to leave their homes. What he wants to do is redraw the border, so that a Palestinian state will include major Israeli-Arab cities, and in exchange major Jewish settlements will be considered part of Israel proper.
9. to #1 Sarah - stay in NY please
Sarah ,   Tel Aviv   (02.27.09)
we don't need any more racists like you here.
10. good luck with that...
Arab   (02.27.09)
11. To: Ridha at No. 2
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (02.27.09)
Funny you should use the word "owners." You see, back when the Ottoman Turks ran the show, they were the "owners." They sold most of the land to the Jews, who are now the "owners." The Palestinians were largely nomadic, and Palestine was largely unpopulated. It was 80% desert, 20% swamp, and 100% unlivable -- until the Jews came and lovingly restored it. Thank you so much for raising the point, and thereby giving me the perfect opportunity to correct a very common misconception. "Owners" ..... come into my parlor, said the spider to the fly ....
12. The right voted for this man!
Steve   (02.27.09)
Lieberman supports a Muslim-terror state in Israel. We all knew this. The right in Israel voted for him en masse. My goodness, one would think after Sharon's treachery the right would have learned. No. The right voted for expulsion and retreat.
13. Liberman Lies
Tirza Haviv ,   Tel Aviv   (02.27.09)
Before the elections many of Liberman supporters were shouting "Death to Arabs" with his present, he always smiles when he heard the scream and never say a ward, like a proud Fascist.
14. #2 and #4
dabosshog   (02.27.09)
First of all Ridha, get your facts straight. The true citizens of Israel are the jews. You types like to forget that. The issue with people like you two. You have no value to a country that is Jewish. You see that as the problem not the solution. I know no Israeli or jew that wouldn't just love to live in peace. At what cost though. You two believe at all cost to Jews and no cost to anybody else. There is an obligation to the Country you live in. Remeber all countries have borders and it is a gift that anybody can leave at anytime if they don't like things. Hey ridha can you say that about Tunisia? Yeah thought so.
15. Lieberman's position shows his ignorance about "occupation"
Ynet reader   (02.27.09)
Israel is not occupying someone else's land. Please read the following 2-page article on the law of occupation: http://www.acpr.org.il/nativ/0811-4%20hgriefE1.pdf The preceding article is from a groundbreaking new book called HOWARD GRIEF, THE LEGAL FOUNDATION AND BORDERS OF ISRAEL UNDER INTERNATIONAL LAW. It is available on Amazon. Lieberman's ignorance on the law of occupation demonstrates why every leader MUST read Howard Grief's book in order to deflect pressure from the US government. [There is no doubt in my mind that President Obama (a Muslim by birth who signs the "O" in his last name with the Arabic letter alif standing for "Allah" and who gave his first interview on Al-Arabiya) pushed Lieberman to publish his article at this time.] Howard Grief's above book presents a novel thesis that sovereignty to the entire Land of Israel is vested in the Jewish people as a direct result of the San Remo Resolution. The Arabs as a collective group were granted no rights whatsoever in the Balfour Declaration. [The word "non-Jewish communities" in the Balfour Declaration applied to religious communities, but the word Arab does not denote a religion!] The last Section of the above book presents bold ideas regarding what should be done with ARABS WHO DO SWEAR ALLEGIANCE TO THE STATE -- solutions that do not involve transferring Israel Land, which is prima facie treason under Israeli penal law Mr. Lieberman. There is also a Section presenting an historical refutation of the existence of a "Palestinian" people. Before you buy it, check out the Table of Contents to this book: http://www.mazopublishers.com/preview-legal-foundation.pdf
16. #4: Yossi the democrat ( are you in truth Ahmed?)
ariel ,   USA   (02.27.09)
Lieberman does not want to expel a single Israeli Arab from his/her land: he wants to move the border of Israel westward. The Arab towns, villages, farms etc will become part of a viable Palestinian State. Together with the inhabitants. And, Yossi, only idiots have " idiology"; people with ideas ( like Lieberman) have "ideology.
17. Far from being a Lieberman supporter, why shouldn't Israeli
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.27.09)
citizens be loyal to the state, as citizens all over the world? All Israeli citizens are equal before the law, and all are entitled to the same civill rights - although some are not expected to meet all obligations, e.g. military service. Therefore, expecting a citizen to be loyal to his/her state, and expecting a Knesset member to respect Israeli law, institutions, symbols of state, and the Jewish residents of the country is natural.
18. ...and one more thing: The "transfer" is not an issue here.
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (02.27.09)
What many in Israel and beyond propose is an exchange of territory with the future Arab entity in the West Bank. The idea is to exchange land of similar size and use. Agricultural land for agricultural land, sand dunes for sand dunes, populated land for populated land. The idea is to incorporate large Jewish population centers in the West Bank into Israel and in exchange for the Arab entity in the West Bank to incorporate large Arab population centers presently part of Israel. This approach promotes people staying where they are, thus limiting the level of dislocation. This is not "transfer" of people.
19. Now He Tells Us!
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (02.27.09)
Similar to Mrs. Livni who is now promoting a two-state solution, Mr. Lieberman is now advocating another (new) state for the Arabs. Where were they before the elections? Suddendly they changed their minds? Is this not deceitful to the electorate to withold keep positions until after the vote?
20. To Ridha #2. The Real Owners.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (02.27.09)
You say :”.. the real owners of Palestine ..” Dear Ridha, the real owners of Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria (nowadays known as the West Bank), are the Jewish People. THE Land of Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria (nowadays known as the West Bank), is the Homeland GIVEN by YAHWEH, the Supreme Lord, to the Jewish People. The Jewish People entered Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria, in 1220 B.Chr. -- as per order of YAHWEH, the Supreme Lord. So, Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria, belongs to Jewish People from 1220 B.Chr. onwards -- and FOREVER. Dear Ridha, you should know that ANYONE ELSE living in the Land of Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria, is an OCCUPIER and thus ILLEGAL -- be it the Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks (332 B.Chr. till 141 B.Chr.), Romans/ Byzantines (63 B.Chr. till 638 AD), Arabs (638 AD till 1516 AD), or Ottoman Turks (1516 AD till 1917 AD). Once again, Ridha, who do you say the real owners are -- the Arabs or the Romans ?!
21. #4 falsehood
(02.27.09)
You lie. The people who talking of ethnic purity and ethnic cleansing are Hamas, Fatah, Olmert, Livni and Barak. Lieberman has explicitly said that he will simply allow places like Um El Faham to be part of the new Arab state. He does not want to force Israeli citizenship on people who do not want it.
22. liberman is a wimp!
jason white ,   afula,israel   (02.27.09)
If the arabs and some Jews are not loyal, then send them to another country. Anyone who has not served in the I.D.F. should be a second class citizen with no rights to vote or sit in the knesset.Let them pay a defense tax on each member of their families also.
23. Dear Ridha, you are wrong and misleading
Mordechai ,   Tel Aviv   (02.27.09)
Dear Ridha, Learn History. Read the Koran. Jews lived in the Land of Israel long before the Romans (yes, the Romans) expelled them and called it Palestine. And...long before Mohammed was born. Lieberman is an immigrant. True. A Jewish immigrant who returned to his historic homeland. So, Ridha, if you wanna talk about the real owners of Palestine, let's begin with facts before moving to wishful thinking. And the Palestinians are more than welcome to share this land with me as long as they accept the fact that they do not have monopoly over the ownership. Kisses from Israel.
24. Lieberman
Ben ,   Haifa, Israel   (02.27.09)
"No loyalty – no citizenship" So, that means that most of the ex Russians in Israel, who deffinately are not Zionists or Jewish should be expelled to wherever they came from. Think of the money the Government would save and rather feed the real poor Jews and Zionists. Such a disgrace that signs in public places are written in Russian and these people that have been here 30 years or more, cannot speak a word of Hebrew.
25. Transfer
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (02.27.09)
A century ago, some Zionists believed that Arabs would voluntarily leave if they were offered sufficient monetary incentive. In the 1930s, this idea was revived as part of the Peel Partition proposal. That proposal would have given the Jews in a tiny area, less than half the size of Israel within the green line borders. It made sense to think of transferring Arabs out of that tiny mini-state if they would be willing to go or if someone (the British) would do it for us. The idea does not die. Now it is applied, by some, to proposals to transfer not a few tens of thousands of Arabs, but several million Arabs, who would supposedly be enticed to leave the borders of the Land of Israel, so that Israel could then annex the West Bank and perhaps Gaza. If we want to reach a lasting peace in the M-E, this option should be faced very seriously. More about transfer of populations during last century at: http://xrl.us/bjcgx
26. Lieberman decieved voters
(02.27.09)
So much for being a right wing candidate.
27. Lieberman is not a fascist and most likely the smartest MK
redbourn ,   Tel Aviv   (02.27.09)
Claudio Pagliara, the Jerusalem bureau chief for the Italian public service broadcaster RAI, told The Jerusalem Post that "in the Italian press, you see a greater understanding of Lieberman's ideas for a land swap in exchange for settlements, and in general, balanced coverage of the Israeli political debate." As far as using the term "fascist" to describe the Israel Beiteinu leader, Pagliara dismissed it. "To me, it's not understandable why he would be compared to a fascist or, for that matter, [Italian National Fascist Party leader Benito] Mussolini," he said. "It's a false parallel, and it's made by people who don't know anything about fascism or Mussolini." Guttman, who served in the National Fraud Unit for 21 years said the image of Lieberman portrayed in the press was very different from the man he had encountered in person. "The man is, in my opinion, the fastest-thinking suspect politician the police have had to face. He will come prepared". "Lieberman does not hide behind his right to remain silent. He won't confess, either. He will give full answers and send police abroad looking for evidence," Guttman said. "He does not stutter, and he is not like Olmert, saying he doesn't remember this or that. He has all the facts in his head, and he does not refer to documents when answering questions".
28. lieberman
james   (02.27.09)
how can Arabs be loyal to Israel ? no way !
29. One doesn't have to be Jewish or Zionist to be loyal to his/
Jehudah   (02.27.09)
her state. Loyalty to the state of Israel should require at the very least to accept the fact that Israel has the right to exist and to do so as the nation-state of a people, the Jewish people. Loyalty to the state of Israel should also require respect of the state's laws, institutions, symbols, servants and fellow citizens. Such demands are placed on citizens all over the world - in democracites as well as in non-democratic countries such as the Arab states. It is only natural that Israel demands the very same of all its citizens and their representatives in the Knesset.
30. Lieberman
Sagi ,   Israel   (02.27.09)
is the best thing that ever happened to Israel. When I say ever I mean from "In the beginning God created" and up to this very moment.
