1. Wow, 1 million
Shlomi   (02.28.09)
That's about 0.17€ for each dead Jew.
2. EU gives $556 mil to Gaza
observer   (02.28.09)
The EU has given $556 million to Gaza, despite the severe economic crisis in Europe. That’s in addition to $900 million from America and $2.5 billion from other Arab countries. The IDF operation in Gaza proved to be a bonanza for Hamas. Sixty years ago, when the Germans demanded $200 million worth of equipment (in today’s dollars) to spare a million Jews, the world refused.

Please do share. Any link? Any book? Any source? "Sixty years ago, when the Germans demanded $200 million worth of equipment (in today’s dollars) to spare a million Jews, the world refused. "

5. germany donates to auschwitz
debbie ,   israel   (02.28.09)
TO #2 AND #3, Well I've also come across this information several times in the huge Holocaust literature I've read for many years, so I assume it's true.
6. Will the EU repair or rebuild Auschwitz?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (02.28.09)
The way thing are in Europe at present the Europeans and the British are more likely to rebuild Auschwitz into a fully operational Concentration Camp, manned by Muslims with the sole purpose of continuing Hitlers mission of extermination of the Jewish People! The Camp Commander could be George Galloway MP assisted by David Irving Annie Lennox and Ken Livingston!
7. #6 David
not important ,   IL   (02.28.09)
soory, but i hardly ever read so much bullsh**** in one post...
8. Marwan you mean the Gazans blackmail?
(02.28.09)
9. To Shlomi (#1)
Jens ,   Germany   (02.28.09)
How many Euros for every dead Jew would be sufficient then? We both know the answer. Every german payment in connection with the holocaust can(!) always only be symbolic. That is why your calculation is not only wrong, but also unfair towards a young german generation that has no personal guilt and at least tries to deal with its history. Yes, we could do better, but compared to other countries that have dark chapters in their history, you must admit that we really could do worse.
10. Is EU gonna use the camps for Muslims in the near future?
Natan ,   Israel   (02.28.09)
Europe is the center of racism, anti-semitism and any form of ethnic/religious discrimination. And their monument for that is concentration camps.
11. Jens: Shlomi is wrong but..
(02.28.09)
I think most of the jews recognize how germany has changed. I have completely changed my mind to your country and I feel a deep affininity to your culture, your country. But it takes time for us all to forgive what Germany did to the jews and Shlomi has not yet, and this, you should also respect , Jens!
12. #10 Natan
Moshe   (02.28.09)
Absolutely Agree!!! Europeans should come visit Israel, so they can see the most tolerant country in the world for their own eyes!
13. Nr 6 DAVID SO RIGHT ON
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (02.28.09)
Besides that David I am sure there are enough Europeans , that would love to help out the Muslims to do the job. And with the financing there won't be a problem at all , most countries will be willing to donate big sums off money. What I hate most is that the Poles cash in big time on Auschwitz as a tourist attraction. You will find the same situation in Amsterdam were the Anna Frank house is making millions a year , for the collaborating not so nice Dutch, all this money should go to our survivors.
14. re 10, re 12
Greg ,   LA, USA   (02.28.09)
"Europe is the center of racism, anti-semitism and any form of ethnic/religious discrimination" Judging by attitude (and knowledge) of many posters from Israel, seems like Israel is the center of human ignorance and stupidity. re 12. I believe that was a sarcasm, wasn't it?

Soeren ,   Cologne/Germany   (02.28.09)
... selfrighteousness is breathtaking. Seems to become a pattern as Israel is moving to the right. Perhaps you take a look at how your own society is dealing with minorities and people who are not Jewish Israelis. Or maybe take a look at Jewish Israelis who prefer a civil marriage, don't want to serve in the army or are homosexual. Today Europe has a far better human rights record than any country in the Middle East. By the way, when it comes to "camps for Muslims" – then probably you have more expertise, don't you think? But I forgot: Your human rights violations are always o.k. and justified – while the fault is always with the others, right...?! Narcissism and the lack of self criticism – the Middle Eastern disease...
16. #14 #15 Yes, Europe is the root of racism and anti-semitism.
Natan ,   Israel   (03.01.09)
Yes, Europe is the root of racism and colonialism. I did not mention human rights records now, I said the 'center' which means the 'root'. No doubt that anti-semitism was created by Europeans in Europe. Let's take a look at the history of Europe to see the roots of racism and colonialism...full of dark chapters: Germany: WWII, Holocaust. France: Algerian and Rwandan genocides Spain: Inquisition, racism and colonialism in Americas. Britain: Indian genocide, slavery, racism and colonialism in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland and other parts of the world. Belgium: Congo genocide Netherlands: Dutch racism and colonialism in South African apartheid, colonialism in Indonesia and other parts of the world. Italy: Mussolini rule, occupation of Libya. Austria: WWII Europeans' emigration to North America, racism and colonialism against Indians, slavery. Do you want to hear more?

Would you give weapons , or in this case trucks , to your enemies you are fighting ? To your enemy who is killing your soldiers ? Even to rescue people ? No , you WILL NOT . So don't criticise
20. Nati 16
Greg ,   LA, USA   (03.01.09)
"Do you want to hear more? " dude, stop making a fool out of yourself, PLEASE. Do you want me to hear more, why, ignorant ..... you? ----- Charles from PT, good to see you're still here :)) Cheerios, buddy, cheerios! How was the vac in EU last year? Greg
21. Soeren , try not to generalise !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.01.09)
I understand you , when reading some of those hatefilled reactions . Europe has her problems , and reactions . Filip Dewinter , the flemish ultra rightist leader has just written a book against the muslims . Have i to take this book as a reference for European tolerance and Human Rights ? No , i will not do it . We have our problems with muslims , there is a difference , the European muslims don't want you all to be killed . So we have different reactions , but still try to respect their rights .

Jens ,   Germany   (03.01.09)
The lack of empathy is a widespread human disease and it is easy to miss emotional motives in the views of others. Yes, not every statement has to be lead by rationality...
23. WHITE RUSSIA
myrna kassner ,   brockton, ma. 02302   (03.01.09)
MY BOBIE ROSE WEINER LIVED IN WHITE RUSSIA WHEN HILTER STARTED SEARCHING FOR JEWISH PEOPLE IN THAT AREA SHE HAD TWO CHILDERN TO TAKE CARE OFF THEY LIVED IN POVERTY . THEY HAD NO MONEY FOOD WAS DIFFICULT TO OBITAN. THEY FLED THERE WAY OUT OF THERE WHILE WAR WAS ON THIER TAILS. THEY WERE LUCKY TO FIND SOME SHELTERS WHILE THEY WERE TIRING TO ESCAPE WITH NO MONEY THEY FINALLY MADE IT TO AMERICA.
24. To #20 Greg the Europe defender
Elik ,   Jerusalem   (03.01.09)
Why do you call someone ignorant? Just because he wrote down FACTS on European history? Are you trying to intimidate him/Israelis by calling us names? Are you trying to whitewash European history with by intimidating us?
25. Elik @ 24, Myrna @ 23
Greg ,   LA, USA   (03.01.09)
24 Why do I call someone an ignorant? Because apparently THAT someone is an ignorant with limited knowledge, yet full of propaganda slogans. You never have thought WHY Jews were persecuted in so many countries (105 exactly), did you? It is ALWAYS someone else's fault, right? Whatever Europe's faults are, SHE is home of western culture, whether you like it or not. What Europe does today, though, is another, sad, question... 23 Don't forget white Russia started the SECOND WORLD WAR alongside with Hitler, they were tight buddies.
26. #24 Elik, what a...
Soeren ,   Cologne/Germany   (03.01.09)
... manipulative BS. What an instrumentalisation of an alleged "antisemitism" and a desire to foster "guilt". How ever could the evil, evil Greg "intimidate" the poor Natan? Not to forget that you set in one Natan=THE Israelis. Read the talkbacks again and you'll find nothing about an "intimidation" – except your talkback of course: extremely MANIPULATIVE... By the way, Natan wrote BS about European "camps for Muslims", and his BS started the whole debate...
27. #21 Charles, as you...
Soeren ,   Cologne/Germany   (03.01.09)
... obviously understood my talkback as answer to "those hatefilled reactions" – I guess you got the message of my posting. I guess you know that usually I don't tend to generalizations. But often one finds people here complaining about antisemitism and "generalized judgements" about Jews – which themselves have not the slightest problem with prejudices and hate propaganda against other peoples...
28. To #25 European history of colonialism and racism
Elik ,   Jerusalem   (03.01.09)
So you are cleaning up and forgetting Europe's bloody, racist, colonialist past just by looking at the last few decades then, aren't you? WWII was only a few decedes ago, so as many other persecutions listed in Natan's post. None of them are propoganda, they are all facts that you seem to prefer to ignore. Europe might as well have taken its lesson after so much shameful racist and colonialist experiences. If Germany now is trying to act as a fighter against anti-semitism, simply because it must do it after its shameful acts before the outbreak of and during WWII. What exactly do you mean by your words: 'You never have thought WHY Jews were persecuted in so many countries (105 exactly), did you? It is ALWAYS someone else's fault, right?' That's simply horrible. So, you say that it might have been Jews' fault that they were persecuted? Jews were the problem but not anti-semitism? Also, once again, get your facts right on European history. Russia started the WWII is a laughable statement. Germany and Russia were on some sort of non-aggression deal but Hitler attacked Russia and then Russia fought against Germany.
29. to #26 read again, read all again
Elik ,   Jerusalem   (03.01.09)
My post is about Greg calling Natan 'ignorant' because Natan listed a few facts about European history. So why should he be called ignorant for that? Are those persecutions in the post lies??? Calling people names to make them silent is a form of intimidation. And Greg used that intimation to silence Natan's post on European history as part of his aim to whitewash European bloody history.
30. To # 18 Debra . The Germans pay ! Try # 3
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.01.09)
They paid , pay , and will continue to do it , and this EVEN the actual Germans are'nt guilty of the crimes comitted by their forefathers .
