if the Arabs want peace they'll have to make concessions, the Israeli's can not give to those that see them as phantoms

"Our aid dollars will flow based on these principles...." does not apply to Israel who will get its US arms no matter what it does with them....

"If you stare into the abyss, the abyss will stare back at you" From the opinions here voiced in regard to Clinton's hopeful pro-Israel, Pro-Zionist comments affirming two states for two people and the support of the democratic world for Israel's saferty and security, once can only conclude that a vocal segment of our people have come out of the closet as believers in everything our enemies(who are real) accuse us of... No wonder Netanyahu is afraid of a true right wing government whose smaller parties would push the point of view expressed in these talkbacks... He needs Kadima not for diplomatic cover but for sanity and realism
35. Clinton and the 2 state solution
MC ,   UK   (02.28.09)
#6 asks, 'why do politicians meddle in Israel's concerns?' The answer is because Israel lets them in fact joins them and even invites them to meddle. You only have to listen to Livni's mantra about '2 states for 2 people' to know that and she insists she won the elections on this theme! Now Lieberman has said he supports a Palestinian state! What do we expect of others if our own leaders are disloyal to the people and the people are confused. Read Eytan Benrsur. YNet 26th feb.

Would be better served to focus on her marriage and to keep her Husband Bill in check.Israel can look after itself without the goodwill of those like Mrs. Clinton who would only hasten its demise.

1) In receiving the Mandate for Palestine in 1922 by the League of Nations, Britain was charged with securing the establishment of the Jewish national home and facilitating Jewish return to their land. 2) But in 1923, the British divided their mandated area of Palestine, which was meant to be Jewish, into two administrative districts. 3) The British cut off 75% of the area originally proposed as a Jewish homeland to form an Arab state, today known as Jordan. 4) Then on November 29, 1947, the UN General Assembly passed Resolution 181, which called for Palestine to be partitioned according to population concentrations. This resolution was no more than a RECOMMENDATION, as General Assembly resolutions have no standing in international law. It did not supersede the Mandate as set into international law by the League of Nations. 5) The recommendation for partition divided the remaining 25% of Palestine into a Jewish Palestinian State and a SECOND Arab Palestinian State (Jordan being the first), with Jerusalem under international jurisdiction. In spite of this, the Jewish Palestinians, desperate to give a home to Holocaust survivors, accepted the recommendation. But the Arabs rejected it. War followed. And another. And another. Unable to defeat Israel by war, now they are attempting to do it by diplomatic means, with pressure from the US and the EU. Israel will be left extremely vulnerable, not only by the closeness of sovereign Palestine to Israeli cities, but also by the need to create a land corridor between Judea and Gaza, which will effectively cut Israel in two. The fact is that the 1922 Mandate is the original and legal title to the Modern state of Israel. All subsequent partitions are in violation of that original mandate. Dear moderator: Please do not censor my TB. These are all facts. If the Arab cause is valid, let the facts speak for themselves.

For her it really does not matter how the ME problems end... as long as she advances her career with it! Clinton's one & only goal is to become the most powerful woman the world has ever known. All of you are only stepping stones she will walk on to climb to the highest level she can acheive. And that would be the presidency of the US! After 8 years there... who knows? Maybe she will invent something new in order to keep power.
41. The Land of Israel is ours by Historical and Moral right.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (03.01.09)
The Land of Israel rightfully belongs only to the Jewish people. The notion of two states for two peoples in the land of Israel cannot be accepted as the land of Israel rightfully belongs only to the Jewish people and to divide our country would be an historic injustice. As it is well known, the conflict between Israel and the Arabs is not a territorial one. If it were a territorial conflict, it could have been solved a long time ago, by territorial concessions, which have been offered a number of times to the Arabs, and rejected every time… As to the legitimate rights of the Jewish people (3 parts): http://xrl.us/osjoz

I hope you get to read this, because I have a question that I hope you can answer for me. Why do Israeli Jews, including those involved in negotiations, seem to have forgotten their own recent history, and almost never mention the 1922 Mandate that was never abrogated. Any subsequent partitions have been ilegally made, and therefore there is no legal standing for the present demand for further partitions. Antother detail that is hardly ever mentioned is that in order to make the state of Palestine viable, the land of Israel would be split in two for an Arab land corridor. Don't Israelis have any inkling of what this would mean to their security? BTW the fact that so many voted for Kadima is something I still have difficulty understanding.
