1. So what?
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (03.02.09)
Having enough fissile material is one thing. Building the bomb is another thing. Delivering it ..... arguably the hardest part ..... is a third thing. Iran can build it; they can't deliver it. Only five countries can. Israel is one of the five.
2. As concerning as the double-talk and back-tracking is
L ,   Elad, Israel   (03.02.09)
...betweeen Gates and Mullen, perhaps there is a plan beyond the talk. Possibly Mullen's statement would put the Iranians on high-alert for action from Israel or the US against them, so Gate's statement, "...so there is some time" is perhaps a smokescreen to lower their level of alarm/preparedness. This, of course, is what I am HOPING that the backpedaling was all about.
3. Hard way the only way.
Ahmed Farsh ,   Uk, London   (03.02.09)
Being Arab I know how their mind works. Even Nasser used to say same before the 6days war he was shocked with aftermath of israeli warfare, but he learned the hard way like Jordan and even syrian's but not unable to accept the fact. Now it is the turn of Iran he will too understand when israel will act.
4. Time for sanctions is over : It’s time to act!
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (03.02.09)
The Iranian regime is motivated by a messianic ideology with a strong apocalyptic component. This renders useless the threat of mutually assured destruction. It is clear that if Iran acquires nuclear weapons, it will be impossible to confront Syria or Hamas who will operate under Iran’s nuclear umbrella. Iran today at : http://xrl.us/h8ydt
5. Irans right to a nuclear deterrent
Wisdo ,   Dublin   (03.02.09)
With irrational entities like Israel on her doorstep, and the United states with its megalomaniacal ambitions, and kill first, ask questions later policies I wouldnt be at all surprised If Iran does wish to have its own nuclear deterrent. But as always with the west, its "do as we say, not as we do"
6. to #1 iran's nuke
john ,   miami   (03.02.09)
we must remember 9/11.shiite extremist believe that their hidden iman mahdi is about to return.but they must "islamize" the world for mahdi to return.this crazy mesianic cult is about to get nukes in a few months.they put a satellite in orbit about a month ago so they have the technology to deliver a missile worldwide.their plan is to get nukes then, control the oil and then start a war. and their main enemie is USA not israel as many think.so the us and israel must stop iran AT ONCE before they get nuke.
7. #5, Who is the irrational side??
Ted ,   UK   (03.02.09)
I haven't heard Isarel threatening anybody with annihilation, but I definitely heard Iran openly doing so, so who is the irrational side here??? Read what an honest Arab person,#3 is saying...
8. KEEP UP THE BS
hakim ,   usa   (03.02.09)
The same thing you said about Iraq and then poofh NOTHING..Israel is the number one THREAT to the entire region and she already has Nuclear Weapons..And she will be the first one to use them she proves it over and over and OVER again
9. #4,#7 i strongly agree
john ,   miami   (03.02.09)
finally someone who knows this crazy apocaliptic mesianic cult it must be stop now
10. Iran's Nuclear Ambitions
Logicolin ,   Wellington,N.Z.   (03.02.09)
To Dear HAKIM (No.8) Quote "Israel will be 1st to use them (Nukes)..she proves it over and over again" Excuse me HAKIM. WHAT? If Israel wanted to,She could end Iran's Nuclear ambitions (and Iran for that matter),in minuets.-Remarkable restraint in my book.
11. To: Hakim at No. 8
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (03.02.09)
Oh, Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. They went over the border into Syria in the early days of the U.S. incursion into Iraq. The Syrians actually started to build something, but Israel went 600 miles outside of its airspace in October 2007 and brought Syria's nuclear ambitions to a grinding halt. As to your comment about Israel -- yes, Israel is a nuclear power. She has been since the 1950s. She has also never exercised a nuclear option, despite much provocation. Did you have a point you wished to make? Besides the run-of-the-mill Islamofascist rhetoric you spout?
12. IRANS NUCES !!!.
Orao Stranka. ,   Tsarigrad u Srbia.   (03.02.09)
THE NUCES OF IRAN IS FOR DETERENCE, THEY INTEND TO GO TO CONVENTIONAL WAR AGAINST ISRAEL TO LIBERATE JERUSALEM. IF WITHOUT NUCES, THEY WILL BE NUCED EITHER BY ISRAEL OR THE US AS THE THINK, BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE THEY WILL WIN THE CONVENTIONAL WAR. Orao.
13. POOR SARAH
hakim ,   usa   (03.02.09)
Where exactly were you when the weapons went across the border "IN THE EARLY DAYS OF THE U.S. INCURSION INTO IRAQ" on the border maybe or maybe you were in the truck when they were shipped to Syria RIGHT. Maybe you didnt know but the media is full of dirty tricks dont beleive everything you here.. As for Israel being provoked and not exercising her nuclear option, That is exactly what the hell Im talking about We dont live in the 50's Honey and she is being provoked more than ever and this is why like I said "she will be the first to use them" I think I made my point SARAH and now you can spout all you want while i sit back and watch
14. Good news!
(03.02.09)
15. #8 hakim
Marco ,   Spain   (03.02.09)
Very well said Hakim!
16. #3
Marco ,   Spain   (03.02.09)
Ease up on the cocaine Ahmed, its frying your brain!
17. What are we waiting for? Turn the lights off in Iran
Zohan ,   Tel Aviv   (03.02.09)
and shut Marco's mouth once and for all
18. The hard way
Jeff ,   Texas   (03.02.09)
Hakim is right; Arabs and Iranians will only learn the hard way. But Israelis have forgotten how to execute a decisive victory, see Lebanon and Gaza. You can not fight Barbarians with noblesse and the rules of a Geneva Convention. You have to defeat them decisively like the Allies did against the Nazis and the Americans against the Japanese. Now in the upcoming war against Iran it should be remembered not just to win a battle but the war.
19. Fissal material is another term for
Red Temple ,   White Mtns.   (03.02.09)
an unemployment rate becoming a national threat, labour riots, rampant drug addiction, and a crane waiting outside of the presidents window.
20. To: Red Temple at No. 19
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (03.02.09)
Very nicely put. Entirely accurate, too. Those crazy mullahs apparently believe their own rhetoric, and seem to think that they can survive a first strike. They can't.
21. What else is new?
(03.02.09)
The media have been telling the world this for a few years now. "Iran to have nukes in a few months" What else is new?
22. Weapons of Mass Destruction
Chocko ,   NY, USA   (03.02.09)
The US has stated that the Iranians could have weapons of mass destruction.... How do they know this? Ahhh. They looked at the receipts. Only people who DEFINATELY have WMD's are the US, Israel, China, Russia, UK, France, India, Pakistan, North Korea.... Well Hot Damn.... Im sleeping a lot better in my bed at night.
23. Expert: Iranian bomb possible in a few months
Brian ,   Istanbul, Turkey   (03.02.09)
This smacks very much of "Iraq has WMD" which was a lie. An excuse for another bloodthirsty attack by good ole Uncle Sam ? or maybe Israel will do the dirty work? Definitely. This is just the build up, soften the public and get away with another 21st century war crime.
24. To: Brian at No. 23
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (03.02.09)
You are wrong, sir. Iraq did have weapons of mass destruction. The nuclear pile and centrifuges which went over the border into Syria. And please do not forget the chemical weapons that we KNOW Iraq had, because we saw what happened to Iraq's Kurds and to Iranian soldiers before Iran turned the tide of battle. Mustard gas was -- and remains -- a terrible weapon. Biological weapons may also well have been part of the Iraqi arsenal, too.
25. yeah
pepe argemto ,   dembouland   (03.03.09)
OH YEAH OH THULSA DOOM!!!!
26. To: Sarah 24
Joe ,   California   (03.03.09)
Sarah! Did you forget to say who gave WMD to Iraq to use it against Iranians? Those were same countries that they are now concerned that Iran gets its hands on nukes. Well maybe a nuclear iran brings more peace when there is balance of power.
