1. Quit wallowing and wreak havoc on Hamas
Steve   (03.19.09)
This is the heartbreaking story of a nation which insists upon reducing a soldier and a man to the level of a boy. This is a heart breaking story about a nation who has allowed their spirit to be contaminated by the whining of the left. This is the heart breaking story of a soldier who's abduction has eclipsed the thousands of brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives for Israel. This is a heart breaking story of a family who is going through hell expecting an act of humanity from a group of sub humans. This is the heartbreaking story of a nation who has lost their way and is dancing on strings pulled by a group of thugs who by all rights should be little more than stains on a wall. This is the story of modern day Israel, touchy, feely, and weakened beyond all recognition.
2.  We shall press Benjamin Netanyahu ????
daniel   (03.19.09)
It's not the Likud who is holding Shalit! If you want to put pressure on Netanyahu, tell him not to sacrifice to much for one dead body.
3. u have 1 breaking heart story but we have 11,000
Jalal ,   Gaza   (03.19.09)
4. We have the strength
Ami ,   Rehovot Israel   (03.19.09)
What we need to have is the strength to conduct ourselves with dignity and not to sully the cause for which Gilad Shalit fought. What we have to learn from our enemies is how to do what we used to do so well - to keep "kor ruach" and "summud" - steadfastness, and not to panic and tear our hair out like caricatures of Jews.
5. # Every word a pearl of wisdom
Sagi ,   Israel   (03.19.09)
My greatest hope is that when the new "rightist " Government is formed, within minutes all border crossings are closed and all supplies stopped and cut off immediately, including "humanitarian" aid.
6. NR 1 STEVE SO TRUE
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (03.19.09)
Thx Steve right to the point, you are so right , unfortunally most off these people are to far gone to pay attention. I would not even call them lefties, but Hellenists who have no connection nor upbring to their roots. They have become the lost and confused ones, thinking that these savages relate to their naive ways off conduct. Expecting mercy from these devils is a total waste of time, but our Hellenists lack the vision and the courage to treat the cruel without mercy.
7. jalal
newyorkone   (03.19.09)
Jalal, they are all heart-breaking stories. The answer is simple-stop shooting! None of those eleven thousand prisoners would be in prison today if there had been no terrorist war against Israel. Stop shooting! Watch how quickly Israel does the same, and then the politicians can settle the issues, and the prisoners can all go home. Just stop shooting!
8. only an extreme right wing governement will get Gilad back
chaim schonbrun ,   brooklyn ny   (03.19.09)
as long as israel is being led by criminaly insane traitorous leftist enemy colaborators, israeli soldiers will be kidnapped and will never be returned, only a proud and fierce zionistic loyal government will get him back [and Bibi is not that government] believe me,if this traitorous gangster regime realy would have wanted to free Gilad they could have done it,JUST TURN OFF THE ELECTRICITY IN GAZA,and Gilad is home within 48 hours but of course this gangster regime will not do it,because they care only about the enemy, and not the citizens of israel who voted for them
9. Heartbreaking story
John Williams ,   Ogden Utah   (03.20.09)
What a heartbreaking story, I hope Ynet does more stories like this, I'm sure one of the 300+ Palestinian children who are locked up in Israeli prisons with the adult population would make a good story.
10. shalit
sas ,   israel   (03.20.09)
my heart goes out for the entire family. I have one question. TO GET BACK DEAD BODIES - GOLDWASSER ETC. WE RETURNED PRISONERS. WHY DO WE NOT DO THE SAME FOR A LIVE SOLDIER? I simply do not understand our government. I know that Ohlmert is ONLY interested in $$$$$ in his pockets but he has exagerated now. He really is disgusting. I do not trust a word from his mouth.
11. Yesterday was good and so will tommorow
roli ,   miami beach, fl   (03.20.09)
timeless lyrics by Shlomo Artzi. I believe Gilad is smarter than his captors, and I hope that at least one person who watches over him will see the light of g-d and tell us where to send 13. Prisoners, money, and real estate will not satisfy them. Even if we build an island right in front of gaza and call it Gilad they would not trade him for it.
12. Israel intentionally lost two wars in succession
Filemino   (03.21.09)
If Israel really cared about its young people it would put all its force into WINNING wars, not LOSING them. Since 50% of the voters again returned to vote for the deliberate losers, the conclusion to be drawn is half of Israel (mostly the secular half) DOES NOT CARE. All the rest is just journo bla bla bla.
13. No different than thousands of Israeli kidnapings
KYOT ,   Salina, Kansas, US   (03.23.09)
When Israel crosses borders to kidnap legally elected politicians, there is no outcry. While I feel sorry for Gilad, my sorrow is no less for the "bargaining chips" that Israel has kidnapped. When Israel comes to terms with the fact that it's policy of endless delay, and refusal to accept that Hamas was legally elected, and therefore must be negotiated with, peace will be possible. Unfortunately, the situation that brings bibi, "the father of the lie", to power is unlikely to do that, except for the fact that it will, as it did last time he was PM, force the US to turn against Israel. And the whole world will continue to suffer... I wonder how many Israelis would like to change their vote, as they suffer the scorn of the entire world because of this obscenity that is the "bibi coalition" It is certainly unlikely to bring poor Gilad home, as he begins his second thousand days of captivity!
14. Stop The Whinning
Dan ,   USA   (03.25.09)
Why is Shalit's kidnapping so much more devistating than the death of any other Israeli soldier during battle ? Could it be that those who died in combat are considered heroes, while Shalit was captured without a fight and therefore his plight is actually an embarrasment to Israel that won't be quelled until he is returned. Stop whinning about Shalit and actually go to war to win, keep fighting until you have won and then you will get Shalit back. Until that time Hamas is using you.
