Wisconsin Marshall ,   USA   (03.22.09)
you will not reach full peace with Israel until the very moment when Israel has ceased to exist.
3. Talk is cheap, Israel OWNS Golan, NO return.

4. Even if we appeased, wouldn't those be the end results?
Aaron ,   SF, USA   (03.22.09)
Why even negotiate if all the land is given back? What exactly would we be negotiating, our right to exist even once land, WON DURING WAR TIME, was given back? Sorry Foreign minister...we're enjoying the Golan Heights too much and we fear you terrorists would poison it. How about you Syrians suck up your losses and help out your brothers and cousins by letting them settle in your country? Oh...and the Turkish being in charge of the talks...LOL. we know how ethical they are.

Who said Israel will talk to an enemy yjat has been attacked by that enemy.Syria lives in a dream world of LA LA .They want conditions ISRAEL WANTS CONDITIONS. !Syria must first apologise for attacking Israel 2 Syria must pay financially for the loss caused by Syria in attacking Israel. 3 Syria must refrain from voting against Israel in the UN 4 Syria must come to Jerusalem.accept Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel and renouse claims that Jerusalem belongs to arabs.
6. The Golan should remain Israeli.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (03.22.09)
If Syria wants peace with Israel, it should offer in exchange the Golan. There is no doubt that for Syria the benefit of peace will be tremendous. The Golan represent for Israel more security than “peace” with Syria. As “peace” with Syria will not happen, there is no reason for Israel to be generous with the Mafia regime of Assad. The Assad family has established a hereditary dynasty shored up by repression within, and confrontation and terror abroad. The rule of the Assads is not aimed at improving the lot of their people or forwarding a particular ideology. They changed ideology from secular Arabism to a seemingly impossible confection of pan-Arabism and Islamist extremism. It is pointless to “engage” Syria in dialogue except insofar as it is possible to confront them with their violations and insist that they mend their ways. 7. Advice for Syria
Brod ,   USA   (03.22.09)
If you want to make peace, don't make preconditions. Don't insist on land for peace. Such crap is NOT peace. The Golan is Israel's liberated biblical and historic homeland. Why should Israel give away any part of its GOD-given and GOD-restored homeland?

as long as we give them everything they want! Thankfully, olmert is history or their versionof 'negotiations' would be agreed to by the 1%ers
12. "no negotiations until all our demands are met"
Translating Arabic ,   Mecca   (03.22.09)
What it means: "We, the arabs, are not interested in peace. Only the demise and destruction of the Zionist entity. However, we are willing to discuss the possibility of perhaps discussing the eventuality of having a meeting as to why we should discuss the option of ................................."
13. Ok, so we're 'still at war' with Syria. Big whoop.
David ,   Hartford USA   (03.22.09)
Syria has neither brains nor the balls to start anything themselves. The Assad dynasty is too preoccupied with keeping power to themselves and their cronies. A real war would topple Assad in a matter of days and he knows this to be the truth. The real truth is that the status quo is just fine between Israel and Syria. So, dear Mr. FM, pardon us if Israel doesn't fall all over itself agreeing to your 'preconditions' for its demise. You clown 'diplomats' think that if you state something stupid enough times, someone is bound to listen to you. Well, that doesn't work! Duh! Wake up and know that the entire Golan is Israel's, as it was 2,000 years ago and as it will be 2,000 years from now. And whatever Assad is in power then will still get the same answer: no way! Get over it. Once you accept that the Golan will never be part of Syria, then negotiations can begin. Mr. FM, you are not part of the solution, you are the problem.
14. Syria FM formally declares war against Israel.
Daniel Evans ,   Los Angeles, USA   (03.22.09)
There was hope that Syria would seek peace with Israel now that Obama has replaced Bush as U.S. president. Instead, Syria has chosen to remain at-war with Israel in alliance with Russia and Iran. Israel would be correct in immediately annexing Golan Heights.
15. if Syria attacked Israel today it would be a 6 hour war
zionist forever   (03.22.09)
The state of war has worked fine since 1973. The Golan has been the most peacefull of all Israels borders and aproxomatly 30,000 jews live peacefully with their druze naighbors. Militarily Syria has some aging MIGS T55, T62 tanks which are from the 1967 era and some T72s all of which are at least 2 generations behind the latest merkava,. They have a couple of old destroyers and their entire submarine fleet was retired because the subs were floating death traps. Assad does have the largest stockpile of chemical weapons in the region and some short - medium range scuds non of which are any match for Israels air defenses. Assad himself is not stupid enough to use WMDS. He has plans to move 500,000 - 1 million Syrians onto the Golan as soon as he gets his hands on it and create a potential Gaza in the north with plausable deniability if terror attacks are carried out which they will be because he cannot be seen as betraying the terrorists or he will end up the same way as Sadat after he made peace. He will also be rewarded with the Golan and his army will be modenised with the standard peace process US military aid package and money, Even now the Syrians are saying that even if we give them the Golan we can't have a real peace unless we also satisfy Lebanon & give the palestinians everything they want including the right of return ( something important to Assad ) he has approxomatly 500,000 palestinians living in refugee camps in Syria he wants to get rid of them and the best way which will also make him look like a hero is to dump them on Israel. The palestinians in Judea & Samaria you can argue they live already in the borders of the state they want, the ones on Syria have come from northern Israel so its harder to say the palestinian state is where you must move to because they don't live there right now but once their grandparents lived in whats now Israel and Assad s going to push very hard for right of return for refugees in Syria because he doesn't want them. Time to stop playing games with our very weak Syrian naighbors who have no real interest in peace just the Golan and Assad is a Jekyl & Hide one minute he is the diplomat only interested in the Golan next minute he is nont offering peace unless all the other arabs get what they want as well. Sometimes a state of war is better than having a peace treat. They are bonuses not always the best solution.

Since you seem to be such a sycophant where Syria is concerned, presumably, you also congratulated the government of Hafez al-Assad when he murdered more than 20,000 of his own citizens in Hama. Or are you only a fan of this terrorist regime when they're spewing their usual BS at Israel?
