1. no entry to the bloody pope

2. question onstrict security
(03.29.09)
I carry a weapon legally on my body at all times. If I were to come to the old city, would I be refused entry with it?
3. What does a Pope have to do at the Wall?
Shoshi ,   Galilee Israel   (03.29.09)
The Catholic Church has been a constant source of anti-semitism through out its history (any body read history anymore?) and it is known that many Jewish treasures had been stolen by the Vatican and are kept in its vaults. The Temple Wall is a symbol for us Jews--that the Temple willl be rebuilt. The doctrine of the Catholic Church is that they have replaced us --and that the Temple will not be rebuilt G-d Forbid! So it makes no sense to me that a Pope, whose office goes back to Pauline Christianity --has any reason to come to the Western Wall of the Second Temple in the first place. If he hopes to impress us by showing up at the Western Wall, he's very mistaken.
4. Muslims pray to a stone wall too..wazzit all about

9. The Slaps and the Clergy...
ben ,   singapore   (03.29.09)
I was SLAPPED THREE times, for asking a valid question in the school.( those days ) On one occasion I asked the clergy, now why must the catholics be so excited about going to the Kotel when keep teaching that the CURTAIN Was TORN from top to bottom when Mr. J died on the cross. Phews the Slaps landed so spontaneously. He ehe ehee e ( catholic missionary slaps ): -) Right have said that , we call the walls as Kotel, kosel, the muslim call it al buraq, what do the catholic call the wall. What about the protestants ? what do they call the wall, do they have any names ? Sorry boy we took the kotel on Yom Kippur, odnt ry it again. Pope, dont create a vatican Pubilc Relation drama there, my people there are WORRIED THAT THEY COULD BE EXPEL ON THE DAY YOU VISIT ! Sorry Pope, it is Pesah. er passover, you know ? :-)
10. What's that stupig looking headgear all about
Zohan ,   Tel Aviv   (03.29.09)
Is he wanting to be God, pretending to be God or trying to fool us that he is God.
11. Catholic Saint Malachi (different from Prophet in Bible)
Rivkah   (03.29.09)
foretold that this Pope would be the second to last Pope. But Nostradamus predicted this is the third to last Pope. His quatrains Centurie IV, Quatrain 86 and Centurie II, Quatrain 57, and Centurie VIII, Quatrain 46 predict sad ends for the last three Popes. He said that when a Frenchman is elected Pope, that will be the last Pope.
12. huh ? St Malachi ?
ben ,   singapore   (03.29.09)
Prophet Malachi is our boy... he recorded hashem loved Jacob but hated Esau :0 .That is how the whole story starts ; -)
13. to #7
ghostq   (03.29.09)
I'm not sure what you ment, but zohan is right, in every religon there r pagan rituals, such as wearing certain symbols and all, it doesn't matter if it's a statue or a rock or a stone wall without a face, it still the same, in prehistoric times people used to pray to stone column, the column called manhir.
14.  How is that Benedict XVI
ben ,   singapore   (03.29.09)
(a Bavarian) is said to be the "Glory of the Olives" ? What is meant by the "Glory of Olives " ( Gloria olivae ) ? In conflict with Nostradamus, as he said when a french man is elected pope ( this one is Bavarian ) :0 you see we jew know everything ? he heehe eeee :-))))))
15. trust me
ed   (03.29.09)
many more than the residents of the Rova will be on hand to stop this gov't foolishnish of preventing our going to the Kotel. Masses (no pun intended) of Jews will be on hand to pray as we always do. NU! Obama came and they didn't try to keep people away.
16. I feel a riot coming on
Avi ,   Rannana   (03.29.09)
ummm sounds like the making of another religious riot ! Must admit these religious fanatics are an endless source of amusement.
17. 14 Ben: The olive branch is a symbol of peace.
Rivkah   (03.29.09)
Pope Benedict XVI is hopeful of peace. John Hogue has some insights on what the Glory of the Olives refers to if you read his studies on Saint Malachi's descriptions of Popes which concludes with the one who is "Peter of Rome", the next Pope who Saint Malachi said would be the last one. But Nostradamus thinks there will be two more Popes.
18. Ban him from Israel
(03.29.09)
19. #3 Shoshi, do some reading
Jacob ,   Beer Sheva   (03.29.09)
Your opinion is kind of outdated, read the last statements of the Catholic Church on Judaism, especially the opinion of the last two Popes (incl. the present one who is a genuine friend of the Jews). But even if this is too much for you - what do you think, why would a Pope come to pray at the Kotel (acc. to your post, he wouldn't look at it even). Do you know what it means to millions of Catholics worldwide if they see the Pope pray at the Kotel? Maybe you don't care but then don't complain that Israel has no friends...
20. he's no planning to look at that wall all day, does he?
(03.29.09)
21. The Pope - Heir to the Romans and the Piso Clan
Meir ,   Beit Shemesh   (03.29.09)
The romans destroyed our Beit HaMikdash, but could not destroy the Kotel. Is it the Pope's intention to once again try to destroy our remnant? What does the Pope have with the Kotel? Is it a Christian site?Let him go pray in Gethsemane, In Bethlehem, in Golgotha, in Capernaum, in any Christian site that may have meaning to him, but leave us in peace. If he believes that his Jesus walked on the Temple Mount let him go there where we are forbidden. Let him go pray in Al Aqsa, in the Church of the Nativity, but let him leave us in peace and not disrupt our Divine Service. We can flatter him from today till tomorrow but he will still remain the same anti-semite he will still hate us and still urge us to commit national suicide and give our Holy Land to the Arabs and like so many lemmings plunge into the sea!
22. Rivkah :-)
ben ,   singapore   (03.29.09)
he like to listen to Abba, also shostakovich's 7th symp- lenningrad symp....ok something common to me also, is he a Ukaranian Jew ? I can guess : -) dear Rivkah, thanks, i go to the book store soon...I'll let you know .
23. #21 Meir - how do you know
Jacob ,   Beer Sheva   (03.29.09)
That the Pope is anti-semite? Did you talk to him, did you read his books/articles on Judaism? Did you ever hear of lashon harah? Is that not valid when talking about Christians? Nobody disputes the sad history of Jewish-Christian relations, but everyone has the right to do tshuva.
24. Previous Pope
Joseph ,   London England   (03.29.09)
What happened when Pope John Paul II visited the Kosel? That must set the precedent.
25. My House
Isaiah ,   London England   (03.29.09)
Why the hostility and acrimony? Christians also read the Old Testament / Tanach and also look to Jerusalem as a holy place. They fought for centuries to 'liberate' the Holy Land from the 'Infidels'. Welcome him. and remember 'My House shall be called a House of Prayer for ALL peoples.'
26.  AGAINST TH E WALL?

Zohan ,   Tel Aviv   (03.29.09)
28. #21 Meir, Why do you accept the Christian storyline,
JMK ,   NYC   (03.29.09)
the only place where Jesus is known is from the New Testament and the Christian understanding of the Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible distinguishedly called the Old Testament. The New Testament is fiction totally so, using any sort of criticism and analysis, it is a forgery. So why as a Jew do you accept as historical fact the Christian story outline. If you mention that it is mentioned in the Talmud, you or such Rabbis in the Talmud are clearly delusional and incompetent to discuss something only known as myth and fiction.
29. If not a matter of religion, then justice
Arie ,   BaGolan   (03.29.09)
As a secular Jew, I do understand the emotional need for all Jews to pray at the Kotel, not TO the Kotel. It is not the Kotel they are praying to but AT the remnant of the Temple. That said, the vatican, when it controlled Jerusalem, prevented upon pain of immediate death, the access of any Jews to the Kotel. To allow the pope to cause that to happen again, especially now that the area is part of the Jewish State, is not only ludicrous but an abomination. The pope serves no purpose by being there, other than some self-engrossed photo op. For an alleged security need to supersede the needs of Jews that pray there is allowing a takeover again, albeit temporary, by the vatican and head crusader. If he truly wishes to make amends to Jews and make a symbolic visit anywhere, he should go to Yad Vashem and perhaps explain the complicity between hitler's pope and the Shoah. Outside of that, the Kotel should never be kept from the Jews again because of the vatican. If the pope or his security team cannot understand that, then they should postpone their visit until they review history and take a reality check!
30. Liberate the holy land???
Ben ,   Monroe USA   (03.29.09)
Ah yes Isaiah, liberate the holy land at the expense of how many Jewish lives? The crusades were a precursor to the variety of Christian murders of Jews. Let's not dress the pope up in the robes of an angel or a Christian saint. His actions and words certainly paint him otherwise. Hostility and acrimony? You betcha. The Kotel has been abused before and needs no further abuse. While I see no reason for any harm to come to the pope while he is a guest in Israel, I see no reason why those who wish to pray at the Kotel be denied. From 1948 to 1967 we were denied. Never again.
