Livnat urged to cancel cheerleaders at games     Ynet
31. Sexual objects?
No! do you see where they are putting their fingers?; in the air.
(04.01.09)
32. Women's rights
My guess is the complaint was lodged by a bunch of fat ugly busy-bodies whose husbands have long stopped looking at them. The cheerleaders are women who have rights too - did anyone from this miserable bunch ask their opinion or do they just wish to impose their prehistoric morals at will ?

33. Confused
if this was the religious groups trying to ban it you would see some heated responses here
Yosef ,   Jerusalem   (04.01.09)
34. She IS RITE
Stop the parade of women. This has proven to increase physical abuse, domestic violence and sexual predetors.

35. # 26
Soon our religious will demand no more females; period. All they are waiting for now is for men to have the babies the Torah asks for. Then Israel will have an all male nation with no females to be stoned because they are immodest, defined as bare foreams. The religious will then go back to work; serve in the IDF and merely need foreign females to raise their children, males only just like China. The "modesty patrols" will be extinct; there will be no females praying out loud at the Kotel nor will anything be needed in the synagoges to separate the ladies from so sensitive gentlemen. There will be no need for seoarate buses either since females are no longer part and parcel of Judaism. So you see that can go much further than merely banning female cheerleaders.

36. # 34 She is.....
And stop a woman's right to choose? I don't see anyone holding a gun to these ladies heads. And your reasoning on how this has been proven to increase crimes against women is a real stretch of the imagination. People who commit crimes against others are no good scum that are going to do it no matter what silly rules or ideas bleeding heart liberals put forth. The same women complaining about women taking part as cheerleaders would demand that women take part if there were only male cheerleaders. I do think it is stupid though to make it a rule that there has to be cheerleaders.

37. Jewish cheerleaders?
Is this an oxymoron!?!?!?
IRAN#1   (04.02.09)
38. What if it was Orthodox Jews asking
Imagine if this were Orthodox Jews petitioning an Orthodox minister. Boy the tone of this article would be about stupid Rabbis who don't like to look at pretty girls
Mordechai   (04.02.09)
39. cheerleader
I agree it must be stop
Amos ,   nyc   (04.02.09)
40. stop objectifying MEN!!!
i have a problem with the way feminists objectify all men as leering lecherus human beings with only sex sex sex on thier minds all day. and as for the cheerleadrs themselves, i thought woman have the right to choose what they do with their body....
izzy d   (04.02.09)
41. to #40 the reason us

42.  To all Women's rights organizations
I am so sorry and sad to be the one who has to break this news to you. Women to men are exactly that, sex objects, this is human nature, nothing more and nothing less. It is not my intention here to be crass, but rather to just state the facts. I am not a young man and have been married for almost 50 years with the motto,"one life, one wife. I have great respect for women but I have yet to meet the man who does not "undress" a beautiful woman with his eyes. Nothing will ever change this so I suggest you stop trying. Believe me you do not know to what bounds my respect for women goes, so please do not attack me on this account. One more thing, there is nothing more pleasing to the eye of a normal male than to behold the sight of a beautiful female. Does this not please you, would you want it otherwise ?
Sagi ,   Israel   (04.03.09)
43. It's a moot point since all the teams will choose to have
cheerleaders...undoubtedly. Also, the fact is that many women love this sort of attention. I am a woman btw. The reality is there is sexuality in life. People can choose not to look. As for these women representing all women and getting men hyped up to commit abuse--I'd have to say that if Israeli laws actually did something about sexual assaults and sexual intimidation by Israeli men, then that would be a better deterrent and far more realistic. Invoking this law is sort of like complaining to the weather man about the recent rain.

44. Such Problems
Another tempest in a teapot being bruited about as if it really meant anything. Yes, women love to be admired and men love to admire them. There will always be the hypocrites who love to complain simply due to their need for attention. Complain ladies, it's good for your egos.
Ben ,   Monroe USA   (04.03.09)
45. sexism and government involvement
Cheerleading, per se, isn't sexist. It's when cheerleaders are all women and wearing skimpy, suggestive outfits that it seems to cross a line. However, shouldn't the government butt out? The idea of government dictating whether there is or isn't cheerleading seems to pose an even bigger problem. It seems downright Obama-ish to have the government meddling in this issue. Let the free market decide.

46. To #5
Do I sense a bitter, yet inflated, male ego here?
Joan ,   Haifa   (04.04.09)
47. Creating jobs
Since the requirement creates jobs in these difficult times, and since a heck of a lot of money is floating around professional sports, I say keep the requirements, but add quotas in which 50% of the cheerleaders must be men.
