Support for Israel is overwhelming, I'm yet to meet a guy in Delhi who is not pro Israel...

India and Israel today are natural partners not just because of the present danger in the form of the common enemy of Jihadi terrorism, but because of various historical reasons. And that is the threat to their way of living and thought from Islam right from the days of the advent of Islam. India as a country and its people have been open to religious thoughts, and Jews for over 2000 yrs have lived in India without any discrimination or persecution. Today Israel's defence industry complements indian defence needs and some of the high-tech equipment is available to India without the strings attached as in the case with US or Europeans. India similarly complements Israeli Space needs in launch area which is critical to Israel. Innovative solutions from Israel in agriculture are useful to India. Trade is another area where a lot of cooperation exists ans can flourish.Some of these over the years since 1992 have created positive environment about Israel in India. I would categorize Indians in 3 categories viz a viz Israel: 1) People who like Israel(which is in majority and increasing), 2) People who do not have an opinion(this I think was a vast majority some 20 yrs back but now a minority and decreasing) 3) People who hate Israel(this minority is more dangerous than arabs/iranian muslims in my opinion). Media exposure over the years has played its part. One thing Indians like in Israel that they expect from Indian government leaders is the courage and political will shown by Israeli leaders in tacking ani national forces within or outside. Israeli leaders(read political here) have shown far more courage since its inception then its Indian counterparts. Indians yearn for it and see Israelis as kind of iconic there.

Jews have been persecuted everywhere else. India is the only country where they have lived peacefully for more than 2000 years. That is something every Indian should feel proud about. I sincerely hope that every Indian and Israeli view the relationship in this context, rather than just "anti-Islamic terroristic, enemy of an enemy is a friend" view.

As a Canadian of Indian origin that grew up in Bangalore, India I can relate very well to why most Indians love Israel. Most Indians, going back to the mythical times have love and passion for science, technology and intelligence. Admiration for Israel as a nation which has thrived despite having little resources is well recognized. Also well known is the general Arab hubris. As Indian economic revival takes solid root, Iraeli and Indian colloboration can only get stronger. Green technology, solar energy, renewable energy - there are endless areas of cooperation between these two great democracies.

one more thing is common between israel and india and that is very important. it s we both never attacked first on any country but yea we did finish the war.

I think for Kashmiri Hindu like me, we should take formal training from Israeli's to negate the cancerous effect of other aggressive religions.

What India can really learn from Israel is how to fight against terrorism. We Indian love the Israel for not only the common value we share but we love them for their braveness and the way they give answers to their enemies. We are being taught here about "How to fight against the terrorism: The way Israel does".Though being such a small country, The way Israel keeps the Muslim countries around scared and away is amazing.

As an Indian, I totally love Israel. I admire their intelligence, courage and resilience with which they face their enemy. There is a lot for Hindus to learn from Israelis. Historically we have a lot in common, we both have faced years of persecution at the hands of europeans and Muslims. Both have intelligent and hardworking population. Both are world leaders in innovation, science and technology (although India has a lot of catching up to do). Both are ancient culture that survived the ravages of time. Its time to unite India and Israel into a powerful military alliance to put a full blooded punch in the face of Muslims and the raise the Brits the middle finger salute. For a country whose prime minister comes begging to Delhi for more investment, I dont take the Brits too seriously.

"A total of 5,215 people took part in the study." and you figured all this with 5,000 people. As someone who had business in India and visited the country dozens of times, I can tell you fur sure that %58 of Indians probably don't know what or where Israel is.

It's nothing new or surprising, when I was a kid in Kerala, India, one of the most repeated and favourite incidents in media and word of mouth was the successful Entebbe raid, other heroic exploits too. I have never seen anyone who didn't love Israel, and most Indians are so proud there were no jews who ever faced persecution or Anti-Semitism in India. People just love Israel, just like they love India, and proud of it, even when India was part of the Non-Aligned League.

As someone do business in India, you've no idea what India is or Indians are, no wonder a vile comment like that from some one with a German name...

The jews majority of them are the most noble people in the world.Judaism and vedanta share common source.May these two oldest religions help mankind. Long live israel and India. Start of david is used as a symbol in India also and the land of Havilah(India) and river ophir(Ganges) are mentioned in Old testament.Our lovely relations go back many many years back .KIng solomon used gold from India in the second temple.Lots of love to jews worldwide and to israel.

Israelis and Indians should always support each others coz both countries are genuinely suffering from same Jihadi mentality countries which is next to their borders.

I must confess I was over joyed to read this article. This is because I am a great fan/admirer of the state of Israel. My Master's thesis was on Indo-Israeli realtions. I am genuinely fond of Israel and the people of Israel. One day I will come and visit this great country of my dreams!!!!! I would very much like to make freinds and aquaintances with the Israeli people. You are a great, strong resiliant and intelligent people!!!!! Your history, religion, culture, intellectual, military, technological brilliance is the envy of the world!!!! If there is one country I would like to be a citizen of it would be the state of Israel!!!!!! What most of us admire is the guts and courage of the people of Israel!!!!! The "alliance" between Israel and the U.S. is a fraud. The United States uses its allies and then trashes them. India and Israel, however, are basically equal partners. However, while the Indian people are pro-Israel, the government of India is only interested in profiting from Israeli technology and has no problem with screwing Israel over in the U.N. and with regard to Iran.
