Maybe Russia is afraid of the attack on Iran exposing its complicity in nuclearizing and arming the Islamic regime to the teeth. The US is legitimately concerned about Iran developing nukes and missiles to carry them. Russia has a long history of arming proxies to fight its wars. Do I hear Cuba, Vietnam? Russia is quite aware it is not necessary for a rogue regime to have an ICBM to carry a nuke to that a short range Iranian (or North Korean or Venezuelan) missile mounted with a nuke launched from a barge off the coast of either the US or Israel and exploded in the atmosphere above would create an electromagnetic burst that would cripple all electronic devices below, effectively disabling the entire nation's infrastructure. Russia wouldn't have to lift a finger and could argue plausible deniability of any involvement in such an attack.

If Iran being a threat to the U.S. is a myth, then so is Russia being a friend to the U.S. But that's a myth anyway. Of course old Sergei does'nt want that missle shield to go up. By Obama.In order to achieve maximum pressure on Iran,Obama is playing the dual game of making it look as though the Iranian threat is real whilst on the other hand,coaxing Russia to make sure it supports USA in its policy towards Iran.I reckon both these policy will NOT work.

Other than supporting some organizations trying to help the palestinians. Iran looks pretty benign to me. They're not involved in any foreign wars, other than those right on they're border, which anyone would do. They have no foreign bases or troop deployments, unlike the US, which has been on a global rampage and killing spree for decades. And unlike Israel they're a signitory to the NPT.
