1. "This is what we want America to do."
Jewish Refugee ,   U.S.A.   (04.12.09)
Syria dictates terms to America, America dictates terms to Israel, Israel YES OR NO? Visit my blog and tell me I am dreaming or United States is selling Israel off as it did with Japan and will do with others very soon. http://israelactnow.blogspot.com/ Under Your Thoughts!
2. Matter of perspective.
cas reader   (04.12.09)
Sometimes to be candid means giving away your intentions. A Diplomat should never reveal his/her real intentions unless there is an interest to do so.
3. The Arabs ONLY Respect Strength, They DETEST Weakness
Adina Kutnicki ,   Israel,new olah   (04.12.09)
The Syrian diplo has chutzpah to spare. While his terror henchmen have been thumbing their noses at US demands for years, he still ! has the audacity to state that Israel must obey US dictates. Although you really have to admire the Arabs for their brazen behavior.
4. US has an obligation to mind it's own business, not tell
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (04.13.09)
Israel how to manage it's terrorist neighbors.
5. Same old story. Strength is respected in Arab/Muslim world
Jae ,   Lynn US   (04.13.09)
whereas diplomatic cream puffs (olmert, barak, livni, Moshe dayan, et al) who want to hold Arabs hands and sing Kumbaya around the campfire are not seen as trustworthy. Arabs cant relate to them because they are seen as weak, and in arab culture a man that is weak is- sorry to say to western ears- a woman. Very macho REALITY. Sad. But true. ...and Israel at 8 miles wide (what meretz and moderate arabs want with abandonement of Judea and samaria) is I-DI-OTIC. JORDAN is occupied Palestine. You cant argue with History, Maps, and legal works Of British Mandate....
6. preference
colin   (04.13.09)
Finally the truth becomes lord. The syrian ambassador prefers Lieberman who talks straight without the diplomatic twisted lies. The world media with the biased anti Israel press are unable to change the lies they tried against Lieberman. BIBI and the true speaking Foreign Minister will make Israel a proud nation again.
7. Mustafa
Jennie ,   NYC   (04.13.09)
This Mustafa guy, is trying to be a smartass, suddenly changing his views on the new PM....Seeing, that the new Israeli Government has no problem expressing exactly how Israel is planning to secure and defend their countries interests and why. It has been demonstrated, that the Obama Government is no friend of Israel and of course Obama and hillary have already started the sell out process...The only hope is, that Natanyahu will understand, that no matter what he does- either gives in to American demands, dictated by arabs or not, Israel will be betrayed anyway...Even if Israel will give in to all the demands of the palis and pali state would be established-it would not stop the terrorism or bring peace. Israel should only rely on their own immense power and hold on to the land they control now and win the war, declared by G.Bush of US-namely the Worldwide War on Terror...
8. Syrian envoy
Brod ,   USA   (04.13.09)
He must be a nut case. In his Islmaist-Jihadist mind, Hamas could attack Israel but Israel should not defend itself. Israel should be wary with these kind of nut cases that seem to permeate the mentality of Islamist-Jihadists in the region. Their 'peace' crap is nothing but a piece of Taqiyya to fool Israel and the world. Any talk about peace that is conditional is NOT peace at all! Israel should say NO, NO, NO to their conditional 'peace' crap.
9. I believe the Ambassador has a good point there!

10. This is a good development
Potash Katiftof ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (04.13.09)
This is very positive news. Rather than exchange accusations and very hostile words, they are saying they like each other and stating their position in a very civilized fashion. Obviously there are disagreements, but this is how you resolve them.

12. Assad supports Bashir in Sudan, who's killed 2 million
Eric Johnson   (04.13.09)
Assad supports Bashir in Sudan, who's killed 2.5 million Black Christians. When will the worst stand up against Arab racism. http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/262147,extra-syrias-assad-urges-arabs-to-reject-icc-warrant-for-al-bashir.html Mar 30 2009 DPA Syria's President Bashar al-Assadon Monday called on Arab leaders meeting in Doha to take a stance and reject the international warrant issued for Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir. "What is known as international legitimacy is not above the national legitimacy in any country," al-Assad told the 21st regular summit of the Arab Leaguethat began in the Qatari capital Doha on Monday. Al-Bashir, who is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Courtin the Hague on March 4 for his alleged role in atrocities in Sudan's western Darfur region, was in attendance at the summit. The Syrian president said developments around Sudan was another attempt to "weaken Arabs" and "divide Sudan," adding that if Arabs failed to help Sudan in this situation, history would hold them accountable
13. Maybe he forgets, Assad Sr killed 20,000 Syrians in 82
Ken Jurist   (04.13.09)
The ambassador should condem Syrian fascism instead of trying to blame Israel for everything. http://www.kurdmedia.com/article.aspx?id=15139 Campaign for the international recognition of human rights of half a million Kurds “Buried Alive” in Syria 10/13/08 http://www.kurdmedia.com/article.aspx?id=15566 Open letter to Joseph Biden, Vice President about Syria Sherkoh Abbas 3/26/09
14. Do I hear the sound of the anti-Lieberman's eating umble pie
redbourn ,   tel aviv   (04.13.09)
Lieberman was needlessly and senselessly attacked over the last few weeks, by people who knew next to nothing about him. People continually posted about how Lieberman would destroy Israel's foreign image, and how it would not be possible for him to talk to Arab countries. Where are the posts from these people now saying, "oops maybe I jumped to fast?". Mike http://tiny.cc/noracist http://tiny.cc/notfascist
15. #2 - that is why your kind of diplomats never
redbourn ,   tel aviv   (04.13.09)
achieve anything. Look all over the world and see which diplomats achieve and which don't. How do you expect two people that won't say what they want, to reach a deal? How did Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin reach a peace accord? It is now possible to watch Europe self destruct, because of its quiet diplomacy and political correctness. Mike
16. American-Israeli relations.
Robert Bernier ,   Tel Aviv   (04.13.09)
As Hamas gained political ascendancy in Gaza, Iran exports Islamic radicalism throughout the Middle-East, Lebanon faces the possibility of a Syrian-backed Iranian-funded Hizbullah revolution and Iraq explodes into sectarian violence, the least we can say is that American hegemonyin the Middle-East is shaky. A s a result of this reality, the Obama Administration has made a calculated, tactical foreign policy shift back to supporting “moderate” dictators and despots as well as “aggressive” Islamic dictators who represented a greater threat to American interest. In so doing, it has chosen what it considers best to American interest. Non of this will work in Israel favor as noticed at : http://xrl.us/bj5qh
17. I think he just hates the idea of dealing with a woman
zionist forever   (04.13.09)
Women having the sort of rights they do in Israel is a foreign concept to the arabs. If he really thinks Liberman is better than Livni they the man needs to get out of politics. Livni was doing more than just talking. Assad himself goes on about how close to an agreement things were and that they were ready for Assad & Olmert holding face - face talks. Livni was involved in all that ... given another 6 months at best and between them Olmert & Livni would have handed the Golan to Assad on a silver platter. Liberman I don't trust one minute he is the tough talker next minute he is the peace maker but he at least isn't going to make things as easy as Livni was especially if the public make alot of noise objecting to giving away the Golan. Livni just tried be right in the middle of the action but keep a low profile so if there is a problem Olmert can take all the blame but if things go well she can proudly announce her part. She had the Olmert scapegoat on her siide which allowed her to make many more cocessions than would be possible for Liberman doesn't have Olmert to use as a scapegoat. He knows if he does something the public don't like it will affect on him directly. At the end of the day though NOBODY has the right to give away the Golan.
18. Syria paused talks during gaza mission
harry lavoe ,   orange county usa   (04.13.09)
Typical lying muslim jihadist politician trying to change the facts as he sees fit. Tzipi Livni and her colleagues were talking all the time about their desire to make peace, while committing the atrocity in Gaza." the talks were on hold during the operation. LIAR!!!
19. To #15 Just Smart Thinking
cas reader   (04.13.09)
Obviously you don't know anything about the art of diplomacy and political strategies.
20. Le Moustique forgot to mention is Iran is Syria's patron
Jake   (04.13.09)
in a much bigger way than America is Israel's patron. Therefore, if Iran does not push Syria to make painful compromises for the sake of peace with Israel, than America should not push Israel to do the same. Since Iran does exactly the opposite and Syria has announced its alliance with Iran will continue, American pressure on Israel to give Syria prizes for bad behavior is unwarranted.
