Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (04.23.09)
There's no way I'm gonna turn off my lights!!
2. #1 Stop moaning - use battery powered emergency lights
Talula ,   Israel   (04.23.09)
Get into the spirit of it Chaya dear and stop rebelling.
3. Earth Hour is a silly exercise. Do something serious.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (04.23.09)
Think about it. The candles some will use emit more C0-2 than the bulb you'll be turning off. Talula's suggestion to use battery powered emergency lights simply shifts the environmental impact to the chemicals in the battery that will - in Israel at least - likely be thrown away. If it's consciousness raising you want, Israel should do something more relevant. Here are a few alternatives: - Walk the Waters. Teams will be assigned to walk the lengths of Israel's waterways to clean them of trash and, with trained spotters in tow, note those dumping into those waters - Israel Prize for environmental innovation. An annual competition sponsored by schools and municipalities, with winners earning "seed money" by the Office of Chief Scientist to develop their ideas - Announce a "days not dumping" project. Like the Days without Accidents at construction sites, announce how many days the country goes without its sewage authorities dumping raw discharge into Israel's beaches. Actions mean more than symbols. I'm sure others can come up with even better suggestions.
4. Jews started Shabbat thousands of years ago
Zion   (04.23.09)
A whole day without electricity, not 60 minutes. Why is Israel copying these secular idiotic holidays, when theres already ones standing.
5. Joining Fellow Nations???
Canada   (04.23.09)
Earth Hour in the rest of the world was March 28th. Last year Israel honoured it the same day, why is it a month late this year? Too bad the journalists at Ynet are not up to date on that.
6. The earth is cooling down and is about to go into an ice age
Rivkah   (04.25.09)
but fools ignore the 31,000+ scientists around the world who warn that global warming is a hoax. The perpetrators of this hoax want to get a world tax and a one world government and a one world religion and a one world economic system. Just like the Tower of Babel that the E.U.'s headquarters are designed to look like: the unfinished Tower of Babel. The Lord stopped the world from Nimrod and his one world government scheme and the Lord will stop this global warming and earth day carbon footprint nonsense. The world will not end. Jack Van Impe on tv says the world will burn and be renewed, as will the heavens, not re-created. Mistranslations abound from original holy books on that subject. But 123 verses in the Bible cannot be wrong when they say the world will not end. Genesis says as long as man is on the earth, there will be seedtime and harvest and the seasons.
