As a side note, I recall very well how at the start of NATO bombing of Yugoslavia in 1999, all the self-righteous media talking heads proclaimed the similarities between Albanians, being taken by trains out of Kosovo, and Jews being taken to concentration camps. Use of trains in both cases was where the similarities ended: Albanians were seated in passenger trains, not stuffed into cattle cars, and were being evacuated to UN and Yugoslav refugee camps, where they received food, shelter, care, and medical attention, not to be slaughtered in concentration camps. In fact, Albanians, along with Serbs and other minorities, were being evacuated to escape NATO bombs. Yet, these "nuances" never entered the public debate, and everyone were patting themselves on the back for being the good guys, as US and Luftwaffe (!!!) planes were cluster bombing Yugoslavia into oblivion. Just for the record. 1. Hamas tactics both before and after the Gaza war earlier this year are to attack and destroy civilian targets, most usually with morters and rockets. This is intended to maximize civilian casualties. 2. Israeli tactics are to minimize civilian casualties by targeting military targets, mostly rocket launchers, and, in the case of this last war, unprecedented by any other country, to warn civilians to evacuate targets minutes before a counter attack is launched. The confusion arises from the fact that Hamas have developed sophisticated means to locate their rocket launchers next to their own civilian residents and to maximize the wounding of their own population during the war.

It's about time someone said something in the academic world to get some attention to the subject - especially in the US where as soon as you say anything along the lines of what the professor said, you have a slew of Jewish people knocking at your inbox to accuse you of being anti-semitic. Every day we read negative information (criticism) of various groups of people, why not about Israel? Why should one group of people be above the law?
