and they ment to be broken, In cast lead the USA didn't do much, and the first think USA did is to meet with abu mazen and not with Israel. USA only care for her intrest not Israel.
2. Beware the court Jew!
Rafael ,   Yerushalayim, Israel   (05.04.09)
3. For a supposedly smart guy, Rahm sounds pretty stupid
JPS ,   Efrat   (05.04.09)
Did Rahm really say "the ability to confront Iran depended on the ability to make progress on the Palestinian front"???? Wow, how stupid can you get? This means that the White House is doomed to failure from the beginning and we may as well write off Obama now as a naive dupe, who surrounded himself with what, neo-liberal morons trying to outdo the neo-cons? The "moment of truth"??? Crikey, Rahm actually thinks that after 60+ years of conflict it all comes down to the next 4 under Obama's watch? Just who in the Palestinian camp is Rahm going to strongarm into submission? Which Hamas leader is going to agree to any U.S. terms? And for genius conclusions, did he really say "If Israel fails to make peace with its neighbors there will be those who will favor violence, he stated." Duh! In case he hadn't noticed, the current elected Palestinian government has been favoring violence even before it was elected. Sadly, it looks like the Americans continue their ability to think that they can dictate international policy from Washington, while the reality in the world passes them by. With Rahm's kind of thinking, both Israelis and Palestinians should be worried.
4. This may be true but WHAT IS OBAMA TELLING THE PALESTINIANS?
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (05.04.09)
Since Israel has been signing peace accords with Palestinians and Palestinians constantly breachin ALL the agreements the moment they leave the room, I think that "progress" should be linked to a suitable pressure on Hamas and PA. Talking with Hamas, Iran, Syria and Hezbollah achieves exactly the opposite. Even in the unlikely case that the Palestinians want peace, this "quartet" will never allow that to happen. So we're in a deadlock here, Mr. Hussein Obama. What I suggest, is WAIT for Iran to be REALLY close to a Nuclear Bomb and be ready to strike it a a moment's notice. When Obama realizes that a Nuclear Iran is a threat to EVERYBODY, nt only Israel, he may want to act immediately, regardless of any genocidal peace he may want to impose on the Jewish scapegoat. Tell Obama to REALLY pressure Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and Hamas and you will see how quickly we will have peace in the ME. If not, we can wait.
5. What has one got to do with it
Oren ,   Raanana   (05.04.09)
The Palestinians have a state, hamastan and look what they did to it. What has Hamastan got to do with the threat Iran places on world peace
6. Son of a Jew
Colby ,   USA   (05.04.09)
I don't trust Rahm Emanuel..nor the president Obama concerning Israel. Regardless, Israel knows much more what would be good and bad for them, not the USA. That said, on a side note I think it would make more sense to instead of saying, "If Israel fails to make peace with its neighbors" to say "If the Arabs fail to make peace with Israel" ... but then again it would be a miracle for the sentence to occur: "The Arabs make peace with Israel" !!
7. PEACE HAS NOTHING WITH IRAN, HIZB, HAMAS, SYRIA IN ME.
and obama knows that ,   atilla karagözoğlu   (05.04.09)
8. What fools these mortals be ....
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (05.04.09)
Actually, they are idiots. They seem to think that getting Israel to capitulate on a two-state solution will shut down Iran's nuclear ambitions. Well, guess what? It won't. Israel understands this. The United States, alas and alack, does not. Israel sets the terms and conditions. Not the United States. The United States is safely ensconced in North America. Israel is not-so-safely ensconced in the Middle East. Stay strong, Israel. Stay firm, Israel. See the course. The United States has an incompetent, uncomprehending administration. But Barack is a one-term wonder. I assure you.

12. Rahm's Confused
norman G. ,   USA   (05.04.09)
Old Rahmy's got it back asswards when he says- "Solving the conflict will make it possible to advance the handling of the main threat posed by Iran". You don't feed a rabid dog your leg and then figure out how your going to to deal with it. You put it down NOW!!!
13. Really? Open Apology to Israel & all sane people
G ,   Tacoma, USA   (05.04.09)
I just wanted to apologize to everyone who is sane around the world. The current administration in the USA sadly doesn't understand the way that the world works. It is all nice and dandy to talk to the Iranians, because hey...they'll reciprocate, and so will Hugo Chavez and Daniel Ortega. Except, that's not the way the world works, and sadly the current administration doesn't understand this. For all the people in Israel, and that count on the USA to do what has to be done, and make the tough decisions...I'm sorry, but the next 4 years aren't going to contain many moments of that, I'd like to say that everything will be peaches and cream, but it won't, and for this I apologize. Hinging Iran on the Palestinians...it is one of the most absurd things I've ever heard of, if only because the Palestinians demand the impossible, and capitulating to them will do nothing to help with the problem in Iran. I'd just like to apologize again, on behalf of my nation, and hopefully, Obama will have wised up about the way the world actually works in the years to come, because hey, we can always pray... Am Yisrael Chai
14. Is Israel a vassal of the U.S.A.?
Dave Ronen ,   Haifa   (05.04.09)
Most everyone assumes that, because the American people support small Israel, therefore, the State Department, the influential oil companies who make decisions for both State, the Oval Office, the Pentagon and other Intelligence units - also support Israel. These forces have different interests and different loyalties due to the Saudis and Egypt, with some connected to Syria and Iran. Israel is ‘used’ as a convenience that can be counted on - when needed - and dismissed when the decision for action lies between the Muslim Arab States and the Jewish State of Israel. 15. Ram wouldn't know Truth if it hit him in the face.
Ken Quinn ,   Amsterdam   (05.04.09)
It's another scam, "the ability to confront Iran depends on ability to make progress." Israel has been promised a lot for what it has given and has gotten duped every time. Even tourists can see through this "turkey." This has got to be an attempt to activate the diversion of "the bigger lie the better."
16. Hey Sarah!
Jonathan Spengler ,   USA   (05.04.09)
If all you say is true, then let Isreal foot its own bill for its war mongers, and why dont you move there. while your at it. It is sasy to talk tough across the ocean.
17. IDIOTS AND FOOLS !!!.
ORAO STRANKA. ,   TSARIGRAD u SRBIA.   (05.04.09)
Emanuel: This is Israel's moment of truth NO THIS IS THE MOMENT OF TRUTH FOR THE US. On eve of Peres-Obama meeting and two weeks before Netanyahu's arrival, White House chief of staff tells AIPAC donors ability to confront Iran depends on ability to make progress on Palestinian front . SO THE PALESTINIANS IS THE AUTHORITY OVER USs ABILITY REGARDING IRAN. Solving the conflict will make it possible to advance the handling of the main threat posed by Iran, he said. WHAT A FOOL AND IDIOT !!!. This president is going to act firmly and decisively to achieve durable peace, he said, adding that this was the moment of truth in the process. This is Israel's moment of truth and the Palestinians' moment of truth and the moment of truth of all the region's nations, he said. WHAT JERKS THEY ARE, TO THINK ONE CAN FORCE UNWILLING PEOPLE TO PEACE. The White House chief of staff clarified that the foundation for an agreement between the two sides must be security for Israel and a sovereign state for the Palestinians. The US is committed to the two-state process, he said, adding that this was the only solutions. THE LAND BELONGS TO JEHOVAH AND IS PROMISED ABRAHAM AND HIS DECENDANTS THROUGH ISAK AND JAKOB, AS AN ETERNAL POSESSION. ISRAEL CAN NOT GIVE IT TO THE ENEMIES OF JEHOVAH, JEHOVAH FORBID, AND THE US WILL FACE HELL FOR TRYING TO DO IT. Emanuel explained Obama's determination to pressure the sides to reach a peace agreement When there is no peace, he said, it benefits those who are against Israel. If Israel fails to make peace with its neighbors there will be those who will favor violence, he stated. SO WHAT ISRAEL IS NOT THE AGRESSOR AND HAS NEVER BEEN. According to Emanuel, the US expects Hamas to accept the international Quartet's principles – recognizing Israel and past agreements and renouncing terror. If Hamas fails to do so, he said, it will have no seat beside the negotiating table. RIGHT AND THER WILL BE NO PEACE - Solving the conflict will make it possible to advance the handling of the main threat posed by Iran, he said. AND IN THE THREATHS REGARDING IRAN THE US WILL FAIL. GO TO HELL FOOLS AND IDIOTS !!!. Orao.
18.  `O Come, Emmanuel, save us, for you are our God'

19. The Court Jester
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (05.04.09)
Imagine what a Jew has to do or rather become to be in a pro-Arabic, anti-democratic Obama government, attempting to regain the title 'leader of the free world'. There has never been a Jew at this level of the US government that has clarity on Israel. Israeli or not he is a danger to the Jewish community.
20. Rahm "Ransom pays" Emanuel (one 'm')
Ben Temalion ,   Shiloh, MO USA   (05.04.09)
The missing 'm' is for mosser. Proud ballet artist and choreographer of shaking of bloody paws between Arafat and Rabin (Rabin killed Jews long before Arafat). Now his next self-professed greatest achievement is paying the ransom to mass-murdering extortionists. He denies the Jewish blood he has already participated in letting and only wants more. Oren even thinks this guy is beautiful.
21. Iran depends on ability to make progress on Palestinian fron
rebecca ,   modiin   (05.04.09)
No it doesn't. And if you say it, Iran will make the most of it dope. Separate the two. Or Irans bombs will be pointed at you long before Israel folds. Foolish statement
22. Shackling peace
Ron Paley ,   Kibbutz Merom Golan   (05.04.09)
The corollary of this article is that even if Israel and the Palestinians make tremendous advancements towards peace, it is now even more in Iran's interests to sabotage this process directly or through its proxy Hamas or Hizbullah. The great new big LIE is that middle east peace depends on the Palestinians having a just solution. The exact opposite is true. When Iran, and others, stop meddling will the Palestinians, then and only then will all of their factions have incentive to cease the conflict.
23. Whose business?
Steve ,   USA   (05.04.09)
The US really needs to mind their own business. They didn't seek Israel's input when they went to war on terror, neither should Israel have to seek US's ok to do the same.
24. Anyone surprised at this line out of the Obama regime?
Cameron ,   USA   (05.04.09)
As is typical with Liberals, there will be an immense amount of screwing around based upon unrealistic expectations, resulting in dubious, failed scenarios. Definitely keep your own counsel for the next few years, Israel. If anyone has a rather good grasp of Arab/Persian behavior & intentions, you do.
25. #16 Jonathan
oren ,   Raanana   (05.04.09)
You are right Israel is fighting war mongers. And the US has started to support terror. Remember that they promised 900 million of your dollars to Hamastan. But remember Jonathan, Israel cannot support you forever
26. amateur hour commences
Ilan ,   Ariel   (05.04.09)
If Iran is a threat then it has nothing at all to do with the Israeli-Arab conflict. It is a transparent attempt to get create a false pressure on Israel in order for totalitarian regimes to 'con' their people into forgetting who is oppressing them. A Fatah/Hamas militarized state 20 minutes from all our population centers is a much bigger threat than an Iranian bomb, while the existence of a terror state will not reign in Iranian ambitions.
27. DISCONNECTED DOTS
steve ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (05.04.09)
To actually believe that 'solving' the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will remove the Iranian nuclear threat indicates just how out in left field proponents of this absurdity are. Or weak and desperate. And what is more frightening is that the majority of American Jews are eating all this up, at Israel's expense. God bless all our Christian friends who understand this twisted reality and truly support Israel, knowing the Palestinians will NEVER agree to Israel's security. At least the Palestinians are open and honest about it, as are the Iranians.
28. Malarky!
Steve   (05.04.09)
This is the Jewish traitor conservative radio talk show host, Michael Savage, calls the "Israeli." Rahm Emanuel was born in Chicago. There have been plenty of court Jews and other Jewish traitors willing to sell out their people while serving U.S. presidents. Emanuel is another in the long line of these traitors. Emanuel's bit about solving the 'Arab war against the Jews' in order to confront Iran is malarky.
29. truth
colin   (05.04.09)
THE MOMENT OF TRUTH Wonderful words. And when Lieberman spoke the truth the Americans and arabs jumped and said he is changing policy. Emanual is trying to use an excuse that Israel will decide on IRAN Is America scared????? Find another story.
30. To: Jonathan at No. 16
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (05.04.09)
I get so tired of saying this. I live in Israel six months of the year; in the United States for the balance. I have dual citizenship. As to the other remark; Israel does foot its own bill, you fool. Get an education; get a life. Particularly an education: Israel is spelled the way I have just written it; not the way you wrote it. Got that? Good. Now work on the rest.
