Through their insigment over the centuries millions and millions of jews have dies. SInce before Saint Ambrose untill now. They should not only apologize but take resposability.

36. What are they getting their knickers in a twist about?
(05.07.09)
There are thousands of dunams of land in Israel that are owned by the Greek Orthodox Church and leased back to the State of Israel. Don't believe me? For example, go have a look at the land registry (TABU) for almost all of the land in the Baka neighborhood of Jerusalem...it's registered owner is the Greek Orthodox Church! If that's not enough go have a look at who owns the land upon which Begin Expressway is built on! Yep The Greek Orthodox Church There are thousands of dunams of land in Israel that are owned outright by the Greek Orthodox Church and have been sold to private developers! Don't believe me? Go look at the land registry (TABU) for the lands in and around Jaffa. Still don't believe me go look at the various court cases related to what the Greek Orthodox church views as faulty sales deals signed off on by the ailing Greek Orthodox Patriarch in the past 15 years! Then of course there is all of the land owned by the Roman Catholic Church outright. Most of that land is leased back to Israel too! What are we getting all excited about? A few hundred dunams upon which Catholic churches are built on? Really ladies and gentlemen go research properly before getting yourselves all excited about nothing!
37. Give them Bethleham and see how they deal with "palestinians
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (05.07.09)
I don't think there would be much love there after the first half hour. Hmmm, maybe if they controlled Bethlehem, they would come up with a peace proposal, like sending all the "pals" to Jordan.

CATHOLIC FOREVER ,   CHRISTIAN JERUSALEM   (05.07.09)
you have the perfect information yes thousands and thousands of dunams are owned by the Christians in the Holy Land. The Christian world that fully supports Israel politically and in other many ways expect a goodwill gesture from Israel in returning our Holy Sites to us or BE CAREFUL NOT TO FACE THE CHRISTIAN ANGER.
39. BUNNIE IT AINT FUNNY
johnny ,   Los Angeles   (05.07.09)
all church property in Bethlehem and other parts of the PA are under Christian control. So what exactly are you trying to say or just trying to through your racist venom as you have been doing for the last decades go ride a buffalo and get a life.
40. To Raymond #26. Good Question.
Maansingh ,   The Netherlands   (05.07.09)
Quote :”.. if these are "Christian" sites, who says they belong to the Church of Rome?” Good question, Raymond. The Rabbinate's Holy Sites Commission should NOT hand over ANY property to ANY government or the Vatican. This turning over of holy sites to governments or the Vatican should STOP. Why should foreign governments be owners of holy sites in the Land of Israel, which includes Judea & Samaria ??? This nonsense MUST stop !!!
41. sounds like a threat
Nati ,   Rehovot   (05.07.09)
35 and 38 used the same wording "Be Careful of Christian Anger" What is this, Islam: Jihad. Christian: Crusade. Give me your land or die!! You religious wackos make me throw up in my mouth.
42. #38 please do remember...
#36   (05.07.09)
that all the holy sites irrelevant of religion are protected under Israeli law and free passage is allowed to all who wish to visit these places. So with all Jewish kindness please do allow me to suggest to you that you untwist your knickers and do yourself the great favor of remembering exactly what your access WASN'T to your Holy Sites during the years that the Jordanians and Syrians held them. In other words my dear Catholic friend without history and without historical knowledge irrelevant of religious belief one can appear exceedingly stupid and offense to others!
43. to #38 amen to that.

44. #42 no nane no nothing
CATHOLIC FOREVER ,   CHRISTIAN JERUSALEM   (05.07.09)
Under Jordan Christians had and still have in present day Jordan hundred percent access to Holy Places and no one can deny it. When were the Syrians controlling the Holy Land ?do not appear like an idiot and check your history books. On the other hand just before few days on April 18th Israel police limited the access of Christian pilgrims Greek Russians and others to the Holy Sepulcher during Light Saturday religious ceremonies. if you dare to answer do mention your name and country.
45. Way to piss off our allies
Alex ,   Miami, FL USA   (05.07.09)
To the Jewish leaders in Israeli, Vatican DOES NOT EQUAL Christian. The Catholic Church has been unfriendly to Israeli and the Jewish people AT BEST. We have plenty of Christian allies in the Evangelical movement... and some of our most loyal friends there consider the Vatican Apostacy. Why are we picking and choosing Christian winners... that's INSANE. Keep sovereignty and title, allow Christians full access, but turning it over to the Vatican gives an unfriendly Pontiff a HUGE win and pisses off our Christian allies... WHAT A STUPID MOVE.
46. Holy Land Assets Cannot Be Turned Over To Vatican
Offenbach ,   St. Petersburg, USA   (05.07.09)
Is the 6 million figure for the holocaust a real or a kabbalistic number? In a recent book, Prof. Shlomo Sand has revealed that there is a greater chance that the Palestinians are descendants of the Jewish people of 2000 years ago than those of any modern day exodus. Maybe the Christian holy sites should be given to them?
47. Christian anger
Ben ,   Monroe USA   (05.07.09)
Threats once more from our Christian "friends". The more things change, the more they remain the same. It's tough you can't have your way isn't it. But then you can always go to the Moslems and ask them not to kick you out of your churches just before they reconstitute them into mosques.
48. What about the sanctity of the proprietary rights?``
Miki ,   NY, NY USA   (05.07.09)
And how about the Jewish claims about Holocaust property all over the world, except Israel? In Israel the property of churches, organizations, people, even holocaust victims was grabbed by state of Israel without any intend to repay. There are some communist practices. What about the sanctity of the proprietary rights? Why no Israeli bank was unfreeze assets of even one holocaust victim? Why Israeli State hasn’t returned the premises seized from the Jewish owners, murdered in Holocaust? If USA and Israel have the common values then the State of Israel must respect the international laws about the property.
49. Why did you omit the most important words of the rabbis?
DS ,   KA   (05.07.09)
Why did you omit in English a very important statement of the rabbis: הרבנים קראו לסיעת האיחוד הלאומי, הנשמעת לפסקיו, להחרים כל אירוע שיש בו "נתינת כבוד או הערכה לאפיפיור או לנצרות בכלל".The rabbis asked the National Union to stay away from any event that shows honor or appreciation to the pope., Please tell the truth and do not censure the rabbis to be politically correct, you are causing a lot of harm this way.
50. #48
highim ,   Minneapolis   (05.08.09)
The property claimed was originally stolen as mentioned by other talk backers along with the entire state for that matter. Analogy would be the property taken by communists after the revolution. Same thing here - Jews were "evicted' to say the least and their land was used. Anything built after the exile and until the return should not be considered legitimate. What about all the property that was stolen from Jews over the past 2000 years? I would not doubt that in the catholic lands of Italy, Spain, etc. there are numerous buildings that could be claimed as Jewish property. Should Rabbi's ask for all of it back? And what would those, and any other concessions bring Israel??? Why should Israel have to appease anyone?
51. LET THE VATICAN RETURN ALL PROPERTIES STOLEN FROM JEWS FIRST
Jorge ,   Tegucigalpa   (05.08.09)
Including sinagogues and cementeries, schools and residences, monies and jewlery, because the most imortant ones cant be returned, the millions of lives lost to their preaching and practices over the centuries,
52. #34 and all other Catholics
William ,   Israel   (05.08.09)
It really isn't yours, is it? Infact, several other forms of Christianity existed before your current Catholicism, and the population is larger. Giving these sites to the Vatican, even if they are holy to Christians, would be a kick in the teeth to Greek Orthodox, Armenia Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, Coptics, Protestants, and Ethiopian Christians - which collectively outnumber Catholics. What you're asking is for Israel to do your dirty work - the usurping of Christians sites to Catholic control. A true crime!
53. Let's remind the Christians of Jewish protection
William ,   Israel   (05.08.09)
Unlike Muslim lands, Christians have never had access denied to them or been blocked from worshiping, within the Land of Israel. Infact, one incident where Israel fought for Christians was the Church of the Annunciation where Christians in Nazareth planned to build a Plaza but area Muslims wanted to claim it for themselves and began an effort to change facts on the ground there with bulldozers citing it as the tomb of some obscure sheik. Netanyahu stepped in, blocked it, and returned it to the Christians, and providing security until the plaza was built. The issue of the "tomb of Sheik xxx" is a well-known excuse for land grab, which is why priests took efforts to remove dead terrorists from the Church of the Nativity in th standoff lest Muslims claim it later. Just one of many incidents where Israel protected Christians in the land...and they should be reminded periodically.
54. Catholic Christian - live in Bethlehem
Hinda ,   SF Bay Area   (05.08.09)
Why is it that Jews cannot have their own land according to you? Our holy sites are OURS not yours. You have sites in Jordan?! Go claim all rights to it - have the Islamics pay hommage to them. Why are our holy sites destroyed by your friends and family members (figure of speech). Joseph's tomb was set afire by the "Palestinians" and Christians. The cave of the matriarchs are defecated on by the same people - and the people you kiss their tushes defecated in your churches but it's ok -- it's the bad Jews. You know -- Jesus may have been a regular human being with feelings - yet you welcomed the romans etc.
55. Vatican treachery
Myra Valcourt ,   Alberta, Canada   (05.08.09)
Personally, I have a BIG problem with the pope's visit to Israel!! Have the Israelis forgotten how treacherous the Vatican is?? Do NOT believe for one second that the Vatican has become a religion tolerant of Judaism, it would be a serious mistake. Not one iota of the land should be given over to any foreign authority whether religious or political. The Vatican has a religious/political agenda that at it's heart is deeply anti-Semitic.
56. There's no Agreement with Crisendom
Ezra ,   san diego   (05.08.09)
The pope is nothing more than a figure head for a belief system which claims to prove it's legitimacy from the Jewish scriptures. Interestingly enough, there is no mention, or reference to JC in the Jewish scriptures. Enough said. The land belongs to the Jews.
57. Ynet editor I don't understand why you didn't print my
#36   (05.08.09)
response to number 38's and 42's TB It would be very nice if you explained what was wrong with bringing up the Crimean War and the terrorism perpetrated on the Church of the Nativity! It would be even better if you let #38 and #42 know that the rest of Christianity isn't really keen on allowing the Roman Catholics to usurp control of Xtian sites!
58. holy land
leah dyanne ,   ft worth usa   (05.09.09)
I am not Jewish nor Israeli. However, I am a Christian and, though I doubt that our presense will stop visits to the Wall, nor harm Jews, I can honestly say I do not like this one bit. What gives the Vatican the right to own these properties? Catholics are not the only Christians in the world who consider these places holy.
59. Bible and 10 commandments
Former Catholic ,   Poland   (05.09.09)
Vatican utilises ancient Jewish traditions, rules, believes and literature to make quite profitable business. Maybe it’s time Vatican start paying royalties for that )))
60. The spirit of Rome
rina   (05.10.09)
is an idolatrous spirit. It has no place in the Promised Land. The prayer of the heart is the people of Israel will not permit the handing over of Land to the Vatican. Chazak chazak ve nitchazek!
