After a week of Obama telling Jordan that UN flags should fly over Jerusalem holy sites and the PA should control the Temple Mount, and Gen'l Jim Jones, Rahmbo and Biden threatening Israel to commit national suicide in exchange for US cooperation on Iran, and treating Israel like an enemy (snubbing Netanyahu, criticizing Israel's nuclear program)...Obama had to think of SOMETHING to calm down those of his Democrat Jewish supporters who, like blind sheep being led to a cliff, don't understand what's happening. Obama thinks this announced visit to Buchenwald (and other little tricks like having a seder at the White House) will be music to Jews' ears.

buchenwald was not a extermination camp as auschwitz was . It was more a camp for political prisoners , inmates died from the harsh work conditions . More than 8000 Russian POW's were shot , "medical" experiments occured . Jews were also inmates there of course .

I can understand that people may be nervous about Obama and his relationship to Israel & the Jews. However, I can't understand the nasty comments about his visit to Buchenwald. Obama's great uncle was there and helped to liberate this camp. Seems quite reasonable for him to want to visit the place. I had 4 uncles in WW2 that saw some interesting action in certain places. If I had the money & time I'd visit places I associate with my uncles. I bet many people would like to do the same thing.

He is easy to read. Obama's going to Buchenwald - he'll look somber, make a comment on feeling for the Jews plight, "never again" , bla bla bla. Then he'll come back and make a comparison of the Shoa and what is happening to balistinians and state "I know the Jews don't want a legacy that has haunted the Germans for the past 60 years." Obama is in his 40s. There has been nothing to prevent him from visiting until now. The reason he has chosen his presidency to visit is that it provides cover for hostile policy to Israel. Note that later in the same day he'll be delivering a speech in Egypt!!! The reaction to the content of a hostile speech, in Israel (and the Jewish world) will be damped by a picture at a death camp (which he associates himself as a liberator of -however tenuous that connection) Your assertions that visiting Buchenwald isn't policital is false.
