1. More "spies"
Joe ,   USA   (05.08.09)
Again? That's funny, At this rate half of Lebanon will soon be under arrest for "spying" for Israel.
2. No surprise we have whole Lahd army in Israel
George ,   Lebanon   (05.08.09)
Every couple days we hear news about an Israeli spy cell is discovered. In the mean time probably more other cells are in the process of formation to replace it. Lebanese are easy to recruit. They never have been loyal to their own country. From ministers down to ordinary citizen, traitors can be found. They do it for ideological reason, business and money or just to badly hurt other political, religious group or sect.

as a lebanes muslim, i only wish one person to be hurt. nasralla! he is holding our country captive to iran and syria nad our country and economy are going down the drain. we are an occupied nation, don't you comprehend this???? not by israel, but by nasrallah and iran/syria. vivienne, beirut, lebanon
4. It has turned into a new craze in Lebanon.
(05.08.09)
Of course, with the help and the blessing of Iran and its lap dog hezbollah.
5. I doubt the majority of them being real spies
Aaron ,   SF, USA   (05.08.09)
So maybe 3 out of the 20 are legitimate spies. I have a feeling the rest of them may just be pro-Israel and posses information actually accessible to anybody. I would categorize them more as political prisoners.
6. By the number of arrests, think most Lebanese side w. Israel
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (05.08.09)
or that Lebanese are liars to say that they catch so many spies in such a short time, and do it for elections campaign on behalf of Hizbullah
7. Tens of thousands of Iranian and Syrian spies in Lebanon
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (05.08.09)
where even a child knows where they reside and not one is caught. One million Syrian laborers roaming up and down that sheety Phoenician country unhindered and all go back to to Syria and report everything they see.
8. Lebanon could be our best neighbour
Eric ,   tel aviv   (05.08.09)
I agree with #5, and #3 most Lebanese cannot say what they think about politics or religion. it is the norm of accusing their "Zionist entity" of all bad things happening from the weather to your carbreakdown, but deep inside they know it's because of themselves or the "friendly" muslims neighbours... Israel and Lebanon would be the best partnership in the region given the chance, after 30 years of "peace with Egypt, there is barely exchanges. Lebanon would be beneficial to Israel in many ways and Israel would be even more beneficial to Lebanon and the region THROUGH Lebanon...
9. Lebanon arrests....
Tania   (05.08.09)
All these spies....... supposedly falling like a house of cards.... Could some of them, have simply stated that they don't like the Syrian invasion and control? Or the Iranians making Hesbollah a terrorist entity that ruins Lebanon? The ones who are spies, and are in fact occupying Lebanon are Iran and Syria. Syria the one that has murdered leaders and journalists with impunity and Iran, guilty of making Lebanon a puppet by arming , ordering and controlling Hesbollah that has become the most powerful force in the country. Lebanon , at some time, had a mayority of Christians, but no more.
10. Eric in Tel Aviv
Nadine ,   Beirut, LB   (05.08.09)
Eric, I agree with you. We could be good friends and probably have a lot in common. There are plenty of Shia, Sunni, Maronites, Druze what have you that all agree. But between Hizbullah and your little excursion in 2006, Israel just joined the list of those who screwed us over. We don't even trust each other, we kill each other, we don't trust Syria, Iran, etc. and after Israel bombed the shit out of us, many of us don't see Israel as any better. It's too bad, I'd like to see peace in my lifetime and I know many of you do too.

i am also lebanese muslim and i wrote number three talkback. i sympathize with your comment. however, think, please think. israel didn't bomb just to bomb. israel answered the constant missiles from hizbullah into northern israeli towns and finally when hizbullah entered israel proper and kidnapped theee soldiers, crossing international borders for an ac t of terrorism. for every action, there is a reaction. yes, civilians died, but i saw with my own eyes how hizbullah used these civilians and ambulances to carry bombs and rockets. they are a terrorist organization that ruined our country. vivienne, beirut, lebanon ps. i don't think that you can ever find a better, more democratic, more civilized and advanced nation to be your friend as the nation of the jews across the border. israel saved the christians during the islamists reign of terror against them in the south. they rescued christians, treated them in the israeli hospitals and provided them with safety. show me one arab nation that came to our rescue when the islamists/palestinians created violence and death in our southern regions and in beirut (arafat). pelase open your eyes. israel is a beacon of light in a region that is violent, extremist, death wishing, etc... and hizbullah encompases all these traits together with syria who milks our economy dry by flooding our country not only with spies, but with poor migrant workers, one million of them, that give all the lebanese moneies to the assad regime. and iran who will create terror in our country via hizbullah and take over our government for good. we will face certain death and the democracy and tolerrance that you saw in lebanon many years ago will be dead. it is dying as we speak, but we are all holding our heads in the sand. we will soon have shari'a law in what once used to be the pearl of the mediterranian. shameful! you still blame israel witgh all the above problems??? i don;t think israel has anything to do with the wrotten situation in lebanon today. it is our fault only! our weak army and fuad saniora who poops in his pants when nasrullah calls him on the phone to give him iranian and syrian orders. are we an independent country or a province of syria and iran? wake up! vivienne, beirut, lebanon
12. To the smart babies #3 and 10
Michelle Haddad ,   Lebanon   (05.09.09)
Only delusional and unconsciously minded individuals, like you, can say such thinks. Look what the Israeli did and continue doing to your country till today. So many distractions, invasions, massacres killing of civilian, stepping up on the sovereignty buy blocking sea and flying in the sky routinely, occupying land, organizing all these spy cells for future war and target assassinations and, they still good for you!? What a rubbish individuals you represent. You are, as many other Lebanese victims of the crooked political system you have, when the hatred to other Lebanese, blinded the mind and the heart to such extend, they stop thinks and judges correctly the surrounding situation I think the Israeli themselves consider you just another morons and they will treat you like they are treating Antoin Lahad and his looser army in Israel now as unwelcome welfare refugees. Israeli are smart and never respect and trust who wasn’t loyal to his own country first even if he was their servant agent. So don’t rush to appease the Israeli and ask their friendship, you are just not that level. They just respect their level people, even if they are dealing with their bitter enemy.
13. Nadine, accepting your premise, why there was no Peace
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (05.09.09)
with Lebanon before 2006, and why did Hizboullah pelt Israel with rockets for years before that, kidnapped and executed in cold blood 2 Israeli soldiers and killed others, all done inside Israel's borders? Why didn't the other residents of Lebanon, if indeed they wanted Peace with Israel as you say, protest vehemently and violently against Hizboullah for committing such acts on Israel prior to 2006? As all Arbs you never find any fault with yourself, you never contribute to inflaming conflicts, or stop others from doing so. Yours is a typical arrogant reply, and because of that will never make Peace with Israel or within your own ranks. External and internal conflict is the lifeblood of Arb societies and conflict in the Arb world is not seen as a problem that requires a solution. Open your eyes and think about it

i read your post and am utterly convinced that intelligence and knowledge IS NOT YOUR STRONG ASSET. saying this, i am also convinced that should you open not only your eyes, but a history book for a change, you would be amazed at your ignorance and stupidity. i am arab muslim living in beirut. i have a phd which i obtained in a western country who doesn't happen to close its eyes and sees reality for what it is in the arab world. it is not easy for me to criticise my own peole. but when i see to what low levels the arab world descended, i am appaled. sorry to disappoint you and your set beliefs. they are just down right wrong. until we arabs learn to look in the mirror and take responsibility for our internal and international actions, the arab world would be doomed because right now, there is not much to speak of in the arab world. listen to muhammad el baradei, the nuclear head, look his speech up on youtube.com about our situation today and tell me again, what should we as arabs be proud of???? NOTHING! except conflict, backwardsness, wars and aggressions against everyone and also against ourselves. it is us who cannot live peacefully with the world. it is not the other way around, to my greatest disappointment, believe me!!! vivienne, beirut, lebanon
15. To Miss P crap D!!!
Michelle Haddad ,   Lebanon   (05.09.09)
An Arab muslim named Vivenne with PhD in Arab backwardness and aggression and talk about history that for sure you nothing about it. Unbelievable! Leave me alone from all Arabs, I am not their attorney, but saying such crup about my country is the ultimate of backwardness, Miss PhD. You really embarrassed me in Israeli eyes. Why you come back from your western civilization to our medieval society, go back.
16. Ms. Haddad, Vivienne is right and you cannot refute anything
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (05.10.09)
she says or I will say below, this is why you resort to character assassination, such a typical Arb reaction you have. Arb societies are dysfunctional and have immersed themselves in a culture of denial. They emphasize struggle, quash competition and reject alternate approaches to Peace or ways of thinking. Arbs live in a state of internal fear that avoids investigating their own self made failures or acquainting themselves with or opening their societies to the cultures of others. As a result, their societies cannot hand down positive achievements to future generations unless they overcome their secretiveness, their isolation, and especially their compulsive need to blame others for their own failings. For all the oil revenues that have flowed into the wealthier Arb countries, the overall state of the Arb world is appalling. It does not produce one single manufactured product of sufficient quality to sell on world markets. Arb productivity is the lowest in the world. Nowhere in the Arb world is there a single world-class university. Science has degenerated into a few research programs in the fields of chemical and biological warfare. There is not one true democracy in the Arb world. No Arb State genuinely respects human rights. No Arab state hosts a responsible media. No Arb society fully respects the rights of women or minorities, and no Arb government has ever accepted public responsibility for its own shortcomings. The Arb Middle East is the world's first entirely parasitic culture because it imitates poorly, consumes voraciously, spits hatred, exports death, and creates nothing. Blame has become the opium of the Arbs, and the greatest blame for their failures is that directed at the United States and, of course, Israel. It is their power, not its uses, that enrages the Arbs who are trapped in their own self-made weakness. Try denying any of this with no insults.
