It's increasingly clear that Obama may well do far more damage than many of us feared. He is not, as some suggested, a pragmatist, nor is he governing from the center. His wisdom and understanding are not likely to put a damper on his more radical, utopian urges. One can only hope that reality and common sense will come to the fore. His desire to close Guantanimo and resettle some of the interned combatants in the US, for example, has been soundly rejected in the Senate. But if, under his watch, the Taliban or Iran get hold of nuclear weapons, wrecking the US economy won't be the only sorry legacy he leaves behind.
