I agree with World citizen on this one. israel cannot fight a classic war, and for several reasons. 1) the country is way too small , there is not enough depth to absorb an enemy force thats large enough such as Syria, remember that even as late 1973 war Syrian Tanks were in Israel in under 3 hours. 2) The Money supply is simply not there anymore , the US is Flat Broke, only surviving on nthe T bonds that the Chinese wishes to Purchase. 3) Only a fool fights the way the enemy is expecting you to fight. 4) This is not 1967 or 1973 any more , Technology has changed, as Hizzbullah in the summer of 2006 points the way to any future wars in the mideast. 5) Combat never goes the way you planned it , everything changes with the first shot. 6) Israel has never fought any classic wars lasting more than 6 days so they really have no experience to draw upon. In any case peceful resolutions are always superior to armed conflict.

Hezbollah, Syria, Iran have the latest from Russia which in most cases is at least 10 yrs ahead of anything the west has. Secondly, Israel conducted a relatively careful campaign, because terrorists hide among civilians. Don't count on that happening again. The recent Gaza operation -- also carefully conducted -- taught Israel that she is damned if she does; damned if she doesn't. About 1100 dead, 980 of them Hamas terrorists, and Israel gets accused of "war crimes." About five million innocent civilians have died in the Congo -- not a word. Same thing with Dharfur, except the death toll is about 300,000. Do you know how many innocent East Timorese civilians perished when Oz shelled the Indonesian army?
