3. the Torah way is the only way
No place in the Torah is it mentioned that a women can be a Posek, so if women want to try changing what out Torah reaches us, it will only prove to be counterproductive.
In Jewish history a Rabbi has always been a man, if a rabbi is a women we all know that is's a big JOKE

5. Joel #3
Let's begin from the bascis:
Show me there Torah verses stating such titles as 'poseq' or 'rabbi'.
What does D'vorah Hanevi'ah represent to you? Or Hulda?
I'd ask advice of these ladies rather than from you.

In fact, "poseks" are never mentioned in the Torah AT ALL. "Judges" are, and we all know Devorah was a judge.

10. Women
Hey number 3, according to your logic, the Torah does not say you can fly a kite or watch TV on Wednesdays. Therefore these activiyies must be strictly forbidden to Jews who follow the mitzvot. C'mon, what are you afraid of? Maybe you can send them off in a women-only bus.

11. #3 Tell me Joel, are you perhaps not familiar with Bruria?
She is quoted as being one of the sages of Talmudic times, so yes - women Poskim existed long before today. They were rare women, exceptional, but the were there.
And perhaps you should read some more of Rashi's daughters as well.
These women change nothing other than force of habit, Joel.

12. Joel # 3
Humans are a primitive species who desire dominance and power above all else. There will always be at least one group in society that must be deemed "lesser," to be kicked down so that another group can stand over them and feel bigger. This happens not only with gender, but also with race, financial status, etc. So long as this defect continues in the human race, wars will never end. This constant fight for dominance, to feel superior and reap the benefits of such (slavery of other races, sertitude from submissive women), will eventually destroy humankind - unless humankind evolves past this "ego" driven primitive nature. Many men are evolving, but those who still need to knock women down so that they, themselves, can feel superior are just as bad as any racist group who has done, and is doing the same to other races. Women are the ones who carry life inside them, who suffer to bring life into this world and who nurture that life once in this world. In order to make up for that, "some" men need to establish for themselves an honour that women are not entitled to, in fact, are forbidden from, thus making themselves feel special, needed and important. The problem comes when this act is so degrading that it degrades a human beings quality of life. All the wars you see, the acts of cruelty - none of these things will end until humans evolve. It all comes from the same place, that same "seed" that grows and grows - a good seed won't bare bad fruit, a bad seed will bare rottin fruit. If this trait is in you, it will grow - and you will harm many.

13. confusion
Women have a place of choice in Judaism and certainly, they have won their place in Orthodoxy. Traditionally, Jewish women have been great counselors, judges, great wives, great mothers, and what not.... But they always also know their place.
The Conservative and Reformed institutions are brandishing this banner in order to in order to bring out the so-called discriminatory character of haardi-religious people. This is part of their campaign. The orthodox know the place of women and appreciate them not only for the above mentioned capabilities but also for their quality of modesty and self-containment in a world where these qualities have almost disappered.
In the Bible, remember Deborah and Ruth and Esther and Zipporah....There were judges and many biblical ladies are cited for their intelligence and yes, their capacity to be know when to be quiet qnd when to be proactive.
The issue here is the fact that the Conservative and Reformed movement has INSTITUTIONALIZED a self-modeled, new version of Judaism Caught in that net, the reformed woman could but follow suit! Understandably, they cannot switch to the Orthodox camp since they are brought up and married within the institution. I wish and hope that, perhaps due to their innate intelligence, some will truly seek the Truth within the Torah and have the courage and humility to admit that no human being is entitled to change a iota in the G-d given Torah.

I agree concerning the Torah. Nevertheless I completely disagree concerning the man-made rulings that have been added by (male!) poskim and rabbanim during the centuries. They are not G-d, their words (often so human and contrasting) are not G-d's word.
Therefore I choose to follow liberal Judaism.

16. Bruria and Dvora - Sorry Guys
Neither Bruria or Dvora were rabbis, or members of the Sanhedrin. Both were scholars, yes. Both were respected, yes. But they weren't among the halachic decisors. Being a counselor and a decisor are two very different things. Further, its says Dvora was a Shofet, not a Sayan. They, too, are different things. The shoftim were in a position of public leadership equitable to a pan-tribal chief. They were not necessarily halachic decisors. Dvora was married to the leader of his generation and head of the sanhedrin. She didn't hold the job herself. You can be a prophet and counselor on halachic matters without ever being a dayan.
