1. Slippery and Coy Obama
Pioneer   (06.02.09)
wanted to trust him, cannot do it.
2. "spin" and interference in internal affairs
tom ,   toronto, canada   (06.02.09)
a president doesn't just "drop in" on a 4-hour meeting by accident. his schedule and appointments are probably booked months in advance. portraying this as "a chance conversation at the water cooler" is just lame. but neither can he openly engage in negotiations with the defense minister (and ex-prime minister) of another country. that is a breach of protocol. his obvious intention of signalling that there are other israeli leaders, besides the prime minister, whom he can negotiate with, is interference in israeli internal affairs and politics. and something the americans, or any other "friends", shouldn't do. the democratically elected government of israel, and its elected prime minister, should set israeli foreign policy. undermining this, to further america's agenda, is wrong!
3. what obama said...
eli   (06.02.09)
obama told Barak hey look you and i can get along. lets make deal..you drop bibi. and ill take a bunch of pictures with you. hows that? and alll you have to do is cut israel to pices. then ill let you visit me in the white house whenever you want. and barak said to obama. "okay my man"
4. Tom from Toronto
Bill ,   New York   (06.02.09)
I agree that Obama did not just "drop in". If he intended to imply that the U.S. can skirt Netanyahu, I would guess he ran into a brick wall. Barak may be slippery in his own way, but he is no traitor. If I had to guess as to the outcome, Barak is probably giving Netanyahu advance warning about what Obama is up to and will give sincere advice about how to fend it off.

6. Obama just wanted to show how friendly he is and say Hi.....
Asher ,   NY,USA   (06.02.09)
7. Now and again
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim,   (06.02.09)
B"H Why is it that Jews always have to give something they have for "peace"? Why is it that there are always so called Jews ready to jump in and personally benefit from their mediation between the goyishe extractors and the Jews? Barak, don't send riot squads to tear down our homes in your efforts to please Hussein Obama!
8. "Unexpected"? Hardly. this is White House Theater.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (06.02.09)
That Obama "dropped in" may have been unexpected by Barak, because his presence wasn't included on the agenda. But the US participants decided to put on this bit of theater so Obama could crank up the pressure on "settlements". I do find it ironic that Obama would make it clear that "regime change" is not US policy where the non-democratic Islamic Republic of Iran is concerned. Yet the White House drops hints that it wouldn't mind "regime change" in democratic, long time ally Israel. It was only days ago that Hillary Clinton, shilling for the President, stated that Israel shouldn't even be building in the JEWISH QUARTER of the Old City. Bibi is right to reject such nonsense.
9. Why he droppped in!
IRAN#1   (06.03.09)
He wanted personally to tell Barak " don't even think about an attack on Iran or else". Yes sir!
10. All I can say is Barack and Barak
(06.03.09)
11. Why he dropped in #9..
Borat Kazahstan#1   (06.03.09)
He wanted to personally deliver maps of nuke sites in Iran - so Israeli Air Force doesn't miss a single target! What a president!!!!!
12. since when has israel ever listened!!!!
ROBERT ,   usa   (06.03.09)
If Israel wants to bomb iran Israel will bomb Iran , If israel wants to kill more hamas terrorist Israel will , if israel wants more land israel will take it , Obama can drop in a hundred times , but when it comes down to it Israel is going to give Obama the finger.....Israel is in a fight for it's survival leave Israel alone, america needs to stop telling israel what to do and start worring about its own problems.MAY THE LORD FOREVER BLESS THE STATE OF ISRAEL.!!!!!!!!!!!
13. #2 Are you Sure About That?
Torrance ,   THE UNITED STATES   (06.03.09)
Good stuff maybe you can explain why Israeli FM Avigdor Lieberman has yet to "openly engage in negotiations" EHH? Is his schedule too tightly budgeted with criminal interrogations that he could not make the trip? Prime Minister Netanyahu is smarter than you give him credit? Think about this does Israeli really want Lieberman's mug spread out on the front pages right now with all the additional negative reaction that it could bring? The majority of Americans have no idea what Avigdor Lieberman is really all about and his chronic condition of "Thinking Out Loud" will not help the people of Israel if he says what he means in front of a camera. Loose cannons need to be secured right now. P.O.T.U.S understands the Ehud Barak will do anything that benefits his own personal political gain (Labor Party debacle) so why not use him as a pawn?
14. #2, just like Clinton
Danny   (06.03.09)
signaling that he'd "prefer" Barak to Bibi.
15. Israel should take care of business
Brod ,   USA   (06.03.09)
pertaining to Iran without further delay, distractions and Obama crap. Israel does not need to let anyone especially Obama to know as to when and how she defends herself against Iran that has threatened to annihilate her.
16. We are in big trouble
IRAN=LAST   (06.03.09)
Yobama dropped in to warn Israeli Defense Minister against attacking Iran because the American forces are preparing to attack Iran and Yomama doesn't want anyone interfering with their huge Operation against Iran
17. Iran
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (06.03.09)
Iran # 1 ! Obama to Barak : Don't pay attention to what we say in public,Do what you have to do.
18. obama ambush
david ,   new york   (06.03.09)
obama's trying all he can to divide and conquer. if he can split off barak, then maybe he can bring down netanyahu and put someone in power who is more willing to give away land to the palestinian arabs. i'm not so sure he will succede. although barak has done very foolish things and is a liberal, even barak is put off by obama going back on everything america already agreed on. how can barak convince himself (and israelis) that when america promises israel security in exchange for israel giving away jerusalem etc. to the palestinains they won't just change their minds the next day? fact is, obama is looking a little untrustworthy and a little scary to barak.
19. Obama's behavior betrays immaturity and inexperience
Samuel Prime ,   Canada   (06.03.09)
Obama appears to be seeking popularity among Muslim nations in the Middle East at the expense of alienating Israel in the process. But Israel can teach him a lesson or two that it won't be bullied around.
20. Obama is doing his best to...
truth   (06.03.09)
undermine Bibi...DON"T LET IT WORK. Bill Clinton brought us down the same road with Ehud Barack and we all know what a disaster that was.
21. I hope that makes up for the snub of General Ashkenazi in
Rivkah   (06.03.09)
Washington, D.C. There will be a war with Iran and it will be defeated by the notable horn of Daniel chapter 8. If the notable horn is the USA which I believe it is, there will be a sudden collapse after that from economic problems or invasion or civil war. I don't envy whoever is President in such troubling times. But Israel will still have Michael the Archangel as its guardian angel, come what may to the USA.
22.  How sweet
Betty ,   US   (06.03.09)
of the Pres casually just "drop in" to see DM Barak, when, in a few days, he cannot visit Israel after going to Mecca & Cairo. Quelle surprise ! LOL
23. #2 Obama is trying to pump up support for the left
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (06.03.09)
He is sending a message to the Israelis that they should swing the government over to the left to get US support. Israelis know that they have a lot of support in congress and the president cant push to hard or he gets left out in the cold. THE ISRAELI GOVT COULDNT EVEN RELOCATE 5000 EVACUEES. TO PURSUE OBAMA'S POLICY WOULD BE TO PL.AN TO EVICT OVER 100000 JEWS FROM JUDEA. This would be political suicide for any israeli leader.
24. Clearly, Obama attempts to have a say in Israel's internal..
Ada ,   Jerusalem   (06.03.09)
...politics. This is going to back-fire...!!!
25. A strong Israel is a vital asset to the free world and ...
Dave Ronen ,   Haifa   (06.03.09)
A strong Israel is a vital asset to the free world and America. The Israelis were put on a ‘short leash’ by Washington and the "Shadow Government" who sets policy. Yes, Israel was given special grants for F-16s and the like but, then they were told couldn’t really attack the Terrorists who were safely hidden, using the general populace as their "human shields". Each time the Terrorists attacked, Israel was warned to "restrain herself". In order to understand what realy happens : http://xrl.us/bj5qh
26. Time To Reign in Israel
TD ,   Montreal   (06.03.09)
Time to reign in Israel. Their constant threats and compulsive land theft are a threat to wordl peace.
27. Israel is preparing to strike Iran, everything shows this!
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (06.03.09)
Both this event, Obama's participation in meeting and Israeli FM's futile attempt in Russia and some more indications shows Israel is preparing to Strike and that is very soon. Gold keeps on rising and Zionist Financial media conceal the reals reason under a false claim:USD losing its base against other currencies and they run to to gold! It is not true and Many zionist financial centers started to buy gold...

mark ,   petach tikva   (06.03.09)
of the 21st century......sans the umbrella.
30. Contrivance
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (06.03.09)
As Tom in Toronto has pointed out, the President's schedule is arranged months in advance, and almost never deviates because of the security concerns. Even the president of the United States must defer to the Secret Service on matters of security, and the Secret Service maps out everything in advance. I am angry that Ehud Barak did not immediately get up and leave the meeting. If I were Barak, I would be far more concerned with avoiding a slight to Prime Minister Netanyahu than I would with a slight to the president of the United States. The Defense Minister of Israel answers to the Israeli Prime Minister, not the president of the United States.
