33. It's obvious these pictures reflect anger and fear
The only thing that hasn't left Obama's lips yet is the "or else" that might follow his current demands of Israel. But give it time; it's coming.
On the one hand, those demands pretty much parallel those of Abu Mazen, who is getting money, arms and support - not to mention the promise of a state on a platter - without a comparable quid pro quo. So putting Obama under a kaffiyah is not so out of line.
But "Jew-hating anti-Semite" is out of line. He certainly enjoys the company of secular, liberal Jews as are found in his administration. What he can't deal with are Israelis whose interests conflict with his grand design.
And to that obvious bigot (#2), these posters are tame compared to those the US left-wing put out depicting Bush, or those the Arabs and Muslims put out portraying Israel and the Jews on a daily basis.

The picture may be doctored, but it is right on.

35. Right message, wrong idea
As a right wing American Jew with homes both in Israel and the US I do not think this is the correct approach to take. There is no doubt in my mind that the US is butting into Israeli politics and attempting to cause the eventual elimination of Israel. There is no doubt in my mind that Obama is pro-Moslem and could care less about Jews. That being said, putting him in a Kaffiyah will only serve to infuriate those who are leaning towards supporting Israel but not 100% there. Israelis need to pressure the Israeli governemnt to stay strong and not care about the US. You can't on one hand say that the US can't tell Israel what to do and on the other plea to the US to leave Israel alone. Acknowledge and support Israel as a proud independent country who doesn't need or want the approval of the US.

37. watering down antisemitism
These nuts act as if anyone who doesn't believe in the settlements is an antisemite. It's ridiculous. Most Jews don't believe in the greater Israel. Stop using the term antisemite for everyone who disagrees with you. It was bad enough wearing the yellow stars when leaving Gaza. It's a sickness.

38. 'The Guardian' showed Bush as a chimp for 8 years
and Tony Blair as his pet dog in every one of their political cartoons.
So what's the big deal if a handful of fed-up Jews decided to depict Obama wearing a Keffiyeh? At least he is shown as a member of Homo Sapiens.
|
|
39. Sarah #24 RE Arafat's keffiyeh
"I, personally, always felt it is a ridiculous looking way to wear a keffiyeh. But that little peaked dunce cap is highly appropriate"
The keffiyeh thing is actually a neat party trick straight out of 'Nation Building for Dummies', using the critically acclaimed field manual 'Terrorist Origami' as a reference.
It works like this. Arafat took a standard keffiyeh that Arabs wear, and had it folded into the shape of the map of "Palestine", walked in with that and his pistol into the UN, and Presto! A new nation of people was born out of thin air. After that, it doesn't matter how many planes you hijack and civilians you kill. As long as you remember to say "The Jews occupied my land and dispossessed my people", you are the master of the Jedi Mind Trick. Works every time.

40. True enough, Raymond
There is a level of unease & anger in this country with the Obama crew that I have never witnessed before, and I've waded through my share of administrations.
Don't need to peer into a crystal ball, or consult with an oracle, to see that affairs are going to get much, much uglier, both internally and in the wider world, the next few years.
As you noted, these posters are a joke compared to the efforts & games the Left played during the Bush years.
The Left spent 8 years screaming like a young girl if Bush even left the door open leaving a room.
They set the bar for this kind of behavior, and now the shoe is on the other foot.
Ye reaps what ye sew, progressives.

41. Brinksmanship
From the Stratfor Intelligencer:
"Israeli Interior Minister Eli Yishai said that Israel will respond to Obama’s outreach to the Muslim world by expanding settlements in the West Bank, The Jerusalem Post reported June 3. Yishai said in a meeting with the Council of Jewish Communities in Judea and Samaria that he will not allow the removal of a single settlement, and that Obama’s visit to the region highlights the need to consolidate Israeli society."
Israel's policies are made in Jerusalem. Not Washington D.C. And Israel is not afraid of the United States. What NERVE Obama has, saying that Israel has to adhere to a four-week (or was it month?) timeline on the settlements.
Where's the timeline with respect to Iran's nuclear program?
Quid pro quo, Obama. Quid pro quo.

42. Small minded children
How is calling our President names going to help you? He has a 65% approval rating and I doubt alienating 65% of our country is in your best interests. What's next? Will you cry, hold your breath until you are blue, or maybe try kicking your feet? As far as the US interfering in your politics you need to realize that for years we have tolerated Israeli PAC's bribing our politicians to do your bidding, but those days are over. We are allies and will remain so if the Israeli people deal truthfully with this peace process. The status quo will no longer do.

43. The far right are very special (not in a good way)
Obama is anti-semitic? really? Im sure these remarks have nothing to do with the fact that he is black. or has a middle name "hussein". It just shows how retarded the Israeli right is. They don't understand that Israel will not last in the long run without a peaceful solution, and Jordan is not an option. They just don't get it.

44. COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE POSTERS SERVE ONLY TO INVALIDATE MESSAGE!
Don't be foolish, nasty cartoons and derogatory art are the tactics of our enemies, this behavior is completely malicious and will only hurt the 'IMPORTANCE' of our message! I don't like that Israeli suburbs are being ridiculed and slandered, but I'm not about PRINT SLANDEROUS CARTOONS as a means to refute my disagreement. Ask yourselves, when in the past has this practice been effective, in what cases have uses of these negative measures backfired, and on whom?

45. cant have it both ways
How come Israelis are perfectly happy to be seen almost as the 51st State of the US when there is a government like GW in power, but the moment there is some opposition or even questioning, they want to be totally independent? And when will they allow for Palestinian "natural growth"? And I think the comments on the keffiyeh are racist and insulting, how would you feel if somone called your cultural dress codes silly?

50. #42 thundercloud65, Obama has 55-60 percent approval
The last time he had 65 percent approval was in February.
The number of Americans who disapprove of Obama's job performance increased 13 points since January.

52. #25 don't listen to talkbackers, many are not American
but Israelis who are very suspicious of Obama and his pragmatic agenda. They see it as a threat to their sovereignty.
As for your comment about support for Israel declining in this country, may I inquire as to whom you think we should support in the Middle East? Rogue regimes like Iran and Syria? Repressive regimes like Saudi Arabia? Chaotic and unstable regimes like Lebanon and Iraq? Take your pick, buddy, but I think we're better off sticking with Israel.

56. Why not do away with Israel democracy altogether
It doesn't matter if your government is democraticaly elected or not, you have no respect from Washington or from any other western democracy. Israel is even less than on equal moral footing with their enemies as far as the West is concerned. Obama (USA) respects the Soudi King a heck of a lot more than he does an Israeli PM and that's a fact. Ultimately when democracy will fail in Israel it will fail everywhere, that's the danger that Obama brings to the table.
|
|
57. THIS IS CALLED NATIONAL PRIDE.
Does anybody in america still know what national pride is? It is definately not pushing a small democratic state and a newly elected government to the brink. It's a shame. Obama is a tyrant in the making and Americans will know this soon enough.

58. doctored photo
Marcel #27, you have it right, they serve a different god than that of Israel. This administration is so out of control - no direction, wisdom, or forethought. Praise Yah that there is HIS prophecies to come bringing better things for Israel and the world. Like another talkback stated, "I wonder how long obama will last?" It's like he is a loose cannon, and now bin laden has sufaced again making terrorist warnings against US? What's up now?
