Carter: Mideast peace not possible without Hamas    Associated Press
1. Carter -the sickness of the West
No peace with Carter. Unfortunately he epidomises the West, weak and willing to do anything for peace except fight for it
DT ,   TA Israel   (06.11.09)
2. HEY PEANUT BRAIN... MIDEAST PEACE NOT POSSIBLE WITH HAMAS..
or for that matter of fact, hizbullah, iran, alkaida, and so on and so forth... and thank you peanut brain for having made this world so much more dangerous by forcing the shah out of iran to be replaced by the lunatics now running the iran asylum.
stude ham   (06.11.09)
3. Stating the obvious
And since Israel provided Hamas with seed money in the late 70s and early 80s, I would think they would be eager to have the group included.
Giora Me'ir ,   USA   (06.11.09)
4. Jimmy
Why can't this poor soul accept the fact that he hasn't been relevant for decades, just go home and hunt for those killer rabbits?
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (06.11.09)
5. Oh, shut up
You are a FORMER president (and a LOUSY former president at that). Stop pontificating on matters about which you are clueless. Not to mention biased. Go monitor an election in Far Goofystan. Better still, go plow the lower forty. Just please exit the world stage -- you ought to be embarrassed about how little you know and humiliated about how little you understand.
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (06.11.09)
6. Shut up, Carter!!
I've said it before and I'll say it again...
J K ,   NYC, USA   (06.11.09)
7. Absolutely right, Carter
You can't negotiate with a government that neither the people voted for, nor want to represent them. Hamas was democratically elected, and regardless of what Israelis think about Hamas, they must negotiate with it. The Palestinians share more of the approaches with Hamas than with soon-to-disappear fatah. No negotiations = no peace. Pick your fate, Israelis. We all have seen that youre rejection of peace caused nothing but more fear and violence.
Noor ,   Palestine   (06.11.09)
8. Carter et al.Suck up to Pals.Maybe they will change mind.
The position of people like Carter amounts to sucking up to the Palestinians in the hope that they will come around and accept a Jewish majority Israel. What the Palestinians do is take advantage of that position to get the benefits (money, concessions) while offering nothing. This has no effect on far left grovelling.
Sam ,   Canada   (06.11.09)
9. CARTER = OBAMA = TERROR SUPPORTERS
(06.11.09)
10. Why print what this idiot says?
freejay3333 ,   Israel   (06.11.09)
11. When the U.S. makes
peace with Al qaeda, then we will talk to Hamas!
Ilana   (06.11.09)
12. Carter the most disingenuous human being.
Carter the most disingenuous human being with a most thinly veiled agenda less than honest, far from moral. Carter the most disingenuous human being is no friend to Israel. Carter can take his sanctimonious high minded thinly veiled agenda and shove it. This man should be shunned!
Lior ,   Israel   (06.11.09)
13. Even Americans Know He Is Senile
When Hamas adheres to the Oslo Accords and agreements that have been negotiated and signed between the Palestinian Arab leadership and Israel, then we might listen. When they adhere to the request of the entire international community, including the UN, EU, US and Russia to: Accept in principle Israel's right to exist, honor the signed agreements and cease all forms of terror and violence, then we can discuss what they have to say. Until then, they remain a group of terrorist outcasts.
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville, USA   (06.11.09)
14. take it from carter (and ignore hamas' own words)
ignore hamas' consistent words and actions and listen to what jimmy says! he wrote a book so he knows.
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (06.11.09)
15. Dhimmi Carter has long since become irrelevant.
This senile dhimmi should stop making a colossal fool of himself and finally retire and do what he does best: grow peanuts.
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (06.11.09)
16. mmm him and mr. Peres should be
in nursing home drinking tea and exchanging stories, it is so alarming to see so many politicians suffering from dementia.
ghostq   (06.11.09)
17. No. 3 Giora Me'ir
According to your standards, since America provided aid to the Taliban when they fought the Soviets, we ought to be eager to negotiate with al Qaeda now.
NYC Girl   (06.11.09)
18. Carter is SPOT ON........
without HAMAS there can never be peace in the region. So Jews/zionists get used to the idea of talking to Hamas if you want peace and if you want Shalit released. Get yourself a reality check and get yourselves out of the fantasy that israel can defeat Hamas.....
Eric ,   JHB SA   (06.11.09)
19. Carter is an embarrassment to America
If the Obama administration were smart, they would have banned Carter from traveling to the region and making a fool of himself. It makes America looks like an idiot to allow Carter to crusade for an Islamist-Jihadist Terrorist organization called Hamas!
Brod ,   USA   (06.11.09)
20. CARTER:MIDEAST PEACE
THE PLAN IS FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA TO GET THE NOBEL PEACE PRICE AND WORRY FOR THE US ECONOMY IN A SECOND TERM OR PERHAPS NEVER
HENRYK ,   RAMAT GAN/ISRAEL   (06.11.09)
21. Noor #7
Hey Noor, when Hamas was elected, did that give them the right to throw Fatah supporters off Gaza rooftops? We all await your answer, you big phony. (and gues what? Allah knows that you are a phony. Now submit to the will of Allah, not to your own will!)
Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte, USA   (06.11.09)
22.  To Mr carter
We are not blined, The problem is Israel, Israel does not want peace. Israel is an opstacle to peace. Time is not on the Israeli side. If the Israeli are not going to get out from Arab lands. Lebanon And Syria, They will lose every thing they took.We are not going to defend the Israeli.
Mike Van Harris ,   Antwerp Belgium   (06.11.09)
23. Carter is Antisemitic #1
On top of this he has a smile of an Idiot. He should spend his time at his Peanut farm not on Idiotic comments.
AlbertoGA ,   St. George, USA   (06.11.09)
24. To: Noor at No. 7
Stupid, that's like saying that South Korea has to negotiate with North Korea. Neither one recognizes the other as a legitimate state. Israel does not have to negotiate with any group -- note I say GROUP, as distinct from STATE -- which refuses to recognize Israel. Gaza is not a state, and I don't care how "democratically" (LOL) Hamas may have been "elected" (killing all of your opponents does not a democratic election make) -- Israel is under no constraints to "negotiate" with a terrorist rabble whose (often) stated purpose is the destruction of the "Zionist entity" and the extermination of the Jewish people. A good faith gesture from Hamas might help things along: the release of Gilad Shalit or the repatriation of his remains. Gotta warn you though: if it's repatriation of remains, Cast Lead will be a drizzle compared to what's coming next. Hell, it might happen anyway. We'd be fools not to.
Sarah ,   New York City, USA   (06.11.09)
25. Who pulled this Crackpot's string? Go away.
Ken Quinn ,   Amsterdam   (06.11.09)
26. Sorry, Jimmy. I switched to Macadamia nuts years ago
I got fed up with your whining, invectives and nonsense about Peanuts, not Apartheid. I just can't stand peanuts any more. I prefer the Aloha spirit.
Jake   (06.11.09)
27. Mike #22
So, Mike, you say Israel is the obstacle to peace. Now, I heard Hamas repeatedly say that they will never recognize Israel under any circumstances. That does not seem to be an obstacle to peace to you. Why, Mike? Also, Mike, while we are on the subject, how much detailed studying of the Arab-Israeli conflict have you conducted? Finally, Mike, people have been saying the Israel cannot survive for 60 years. Let me tell you something: Israel and the Jewish people will be surviving and thriving when you are becoming worm food in the grave!
Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte, USA   (06.11.09)
