1. Salam Fayyad, we are behind you 100%
Nour ,   Palestine   (06.22.09)
We laud your crystal clear and systematic march towards our freedom and independence!
2. Sorry... Not Gonna Happen
Rich ,   Canada   (06.22.09)
Maybe set goals that are actually attainable like lifting road blocks, improving your economy and just generally improving your quality of living. Having a "Palistinian State" is not really that important in the big picture.
3. I acually met and for a short period
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (06.22.09)
of time dated a Arab girl who originally came from Ramalla. 18 years ago, she said many of the same things Fayyad said. I'm still waiting to see it happen and with the Pali leadership we'll still be waiting in another 18 years for it. I still am friends with Rita she and the rest of the Pali's deserve better than the get from their so called leaders
4. God willing!
T.I ,   Israel   (06.22.09)
5. pali PM Articulation
Mark Kleiman ,   Florida USA   (06.22.09)
Well, well leave it to the Israel's enemies to elucidate Netanyahu's speech... and to reveal more of their own intentions... ignore all peace overtures and incite war =(
6. Past agreements are irrelevant
Brod ,   USA   (06.22.09)
since they do not ensure Israel's national security interests. Or, is Fayyad thinking of creating another Hamastan enclave so that it can continue to attack Israel? Does he want another war to spark?
7. Why not today? Because Palis can't govern themselves.
Cynic ,   USA   (06.22.09)
8. Another arab pipe dream!
Wise Saba ,   Netivot   (06.22.09)
They already have a Palestinian state called Jordan.
9. #1 - Nour - For you, I hope
William ,   Israel   (06.22.09)
But usually when the Pals are forced to agree to their own agreements from the past, that;s when the whole deal falls apart. Change education, stop vilifying Jews (a racist act), transparency of funds, open government, etc. - all promises written on ice, as Pals leaders broker for who can wield the most power and get the most money before the next fight. An Arab saga continues. For us in Israel, removing the outer-lying Arab neighborhoods from J'lem proper would be a good thing. Under Pal leadership - you and them will feel isolated no more...until you attack civilians, again.
10. Fayyad could have made history, but...
Amihai ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.22.09)
Mr. Fayyad could have stated clearly and directly that Israel has the right to exist and to do so as the nation-state of the Jewish people, and that based on UN General Assembly Resolution 181 of 29 Nov 1947, but he didn't. If he had done so he would have made history and broken much ice necessary to advance towards an accommodation of peaceful coexistence between Israel and its Arab neighbors. But he opted not to recognize Israel's right to be, or in other words, no to coexistence. No wonder, Abba Eban words continue to echo in these parts: "The Arabs have never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity" towards peace. Fayyad's speech was one such miss. Thus, it is difficult to see yet another Arab state being established in the now disputed territories of Judea and Samaria, in addition to the Palestinian Arab state already in existence in the Gaza Strip.
11. I can't comment .......
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.22.09)
Too hard to type when I'm laughing so hard.
12. Actually, this is quite possible
Arab ,   London   (06.22.09)
Based on Netaniahu speech, Arab's biggest problem is that "they will not have guns if Zionist attempt to reconquer their state". That can be solved with 2 instant military treaties: 1) Future State Palestine is made instant protective state of NATO, without requirements that are made for these states (i.e. yearly fee etc) 2) FSP can make several protective deals with various Arab states based on mutual help in event of attack. In this case, if any armed conflict would arise, Israel and FSP will have no choice but to investigate. In case that is government driven, like, Israel really will aim for reconquest, then wrath of NATO AND Arab states will be on it. I am waiting now for traditional "ad hominem" attacks, type: "Be in your Eurabia, this is our country given to us by the Jaakov, Abraham, Izack" etc.
13. Laudable ideals:
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (06.22.09)
As an Israeli non-appeasement oriented Jew, I actually hope that the Palestinian population is successful in establishing a state of their own, one which does not threaten Israel and, perhaps, even cooperates with us in terms of economic development. We, both Israelis and Palestinians, suffer as a result of the continued hostilities. While we Israelis remain very skeptical as a result of our past experiences, we know from prior examples (Irish Protestants and Catholics) that even the most volatile situations can be significantly reduced when both parties become sufficiently uncomfortable with the current status of affairs.
14. The disgusting "al-Quids" university where he spoke
Antonio ,   Haifa   (06.22.09)
ought to be shut down pronto. Relocate it to Fakestinian territories. That should be part of any PA state-establishing agreements--no PA institutions of any sort anywhere in Israel.
15. Leave it to the pals, ie Fayyad to tell us all about circumv
jared ,   orlando   (06.22.09)
enting peace, a topic of which they have enormous experience. Put up or shut up Fayyad, lets see what tangible offer you have to make in light of the offer on the table Given the history of the region , Netanyahus requests are entirely in line
16. to Arab, London, your premice is entirely faulty
jared   (06.22.09)
history does not and will not support israeli aggression against arab states, on the contrary it has been quite the opposite, on numerous attempts, to wipe israel from the map
17. Fayyad, kiss my ass
(06.22.09)
18. CAN YOU SAY "Israel is the Jewish State" ?
GZLives   (06.22.09)
Speak up .... I can't hear you
19. sure..when you stop firing rockets and
eve ,   Israel   (06.22.09)
give up your ridiculous illusion that Jerusalem is yours...
20. please watch tis

21. Give up the Hashish
SS ,   USA   (06.22.09)
i am not sure who is more stoned, leaders of the PA or Hamas because both of them are too waxked out to realize what is happening. And its simple. A palestinian state will never be set up without Palestinians recognizing Israel as the eternal home of the Jews and giving up violance, neither of which they appear to be doing. Historically that was no big deal, then we got Bibi's speech and by acknowledging a possible 2 state solution, he has forced your hand. Now you need to give something that shows goo faith. But as we all know you guys talk alot but give nothing, which is why the peace process goes nowhere. So here's my suggestion, give up the hashish and get real, because the only state you guys are in is the state of confusion. Bibi, MIT grad that he is, set you up, either you deliver some affirmation that you want peace or keep waiting. Just don't hold your breath thinking anyone is going to be able to force the Israelis to pull back to the 67 boarders and give up Jerusalem. Never ever going to happen especially with hamas hanging around. Fayyad and Abbas are just too stoned to realize it.
22. Arab propaganda!
Larry G. ,   Hamilton, Canada   (06.23.09)
I'd rather you--the readers research East Jerusalem under Jordanian control than me feeding you a bunch of website links. However, once you research this subject on your own, you'll realize that this Arab East Jerusalem crap is all propaganda! The Jordanians' threw out all the Jews, destroyed over 50 synagogues, knocked down all Jewish grave stones and used them for paving stones! And that's just for starters, the Jordanians are the ones that military divided Jerusalem and also prevented Israeli Jews from entering occupied Jerusalem to visit the Western Wall! There never was an Arab East Jerusalem, this too belonged to and housed a Jewish population! To throw out Jews and then say this land belongs to you is akin to throwing out the Jews and renaming the land Syria-Palaestina, oh right that was once done before! And to complain about the "Judaization of Jerusalem" is a joke; the city was established by King David, an Israelite. The entire city of Jerusalem was Jewish for thousands of years before invaders from foreign lands entered the picture, including Muslim marauders!
23. Video recommended by #20:
Robert Haymond ,   Ashdod, Israel   (06.23.09)
I watched and listened to one of the videos as recommended by Talkbacker #20. The video series included the title words "Peace" and "Propaganda". It described the sufferings and hardships of the Palestinian population. There was no effort to place it in historical, social or geographical context. For instance, it noted how there was a paucity of work (after 1967) without noting that pre-1967, before Israel was forced into with another war with its Arab neighbours, the Palestinian population was in much better economic straits. Such stalwarts as Noam Chomsky, that overated professor of linguistics, Jew basher and noted Jewish self-loather, was profiled. And no one including Chomsky gave a perspective other than an anti-Israeli one. None of those profiled mentioned that checkpoints prevented the distribution of weapons and afforded the opportunity to stop would-be suicide bombers. Of course Chomsky&Partners live in relative tranquillity and have never had to confront the kind of danger Israelis are used to on a daily basis. The "victims" shown in this video were always the poor "dispossed" Arabs while never mentioning the socio-historical context of Israel's fight for independence. Noam Chomsky called it (Israel) amongst the most brutal of regimes but his statement can easily be proved to be the hyperbole of a man not versed in history with a bone to pick. The videos are such blatant propaganda that I wonder what the real agenda of those who produced it is.
