32. More Arab threats to kill us.... nothing ever changes.
"We will take revenge for the honor of our daughters and sisters against France..." Typical Arab claptrap. They want to kill the people who want to liberate Arab women and on the other hand they kill their women if they act too liberated. Arabs simply don't want to lose absolute power over their property; easier to kill everyone involved on either end!

33. #13 Marcel
Marcel, I have been reading your talkbacks for a couple of years now. I have never heard you say one thing in support of the State of Israel, the government of Israel or the people of Israel. Always the insults. Always the bluster and name calling.
Do you think you will get away with this? Not a chance! Read Obadiah 15.

34. #25 William
Thats strange William. I have been studying Torah for 40 years. Not just reading, but "drash." I have never once found kippah or strimels mentioned even once!
You must mean that stuff the pharisees write. Excuse me, I mean rabbis.

35. #25: Idon't think Moshe wore a streimel :-)
As far as I'm concerned I believe that all muslims (men and women) should wear the burka. Then we would see that France does not have 5 million but closer to 8 or 9 or 10 million already on its soil.

36. wo?men

38. You go SarkozY!!!
Finally a leader that has guts....he is absolutely right. Religion should be practised at home or in your church, mosq or synagogue, now lets see if other European countries have the guts like Sarkozy....

39. A valid point, Bunnie
None too impressed with what I saw on the streets of London & Munich.

43. Vardina #7:
you are a typical uneducated hating person...for your info, there are churches in muslim countries, there are european women dressing the way they wish in muslim countries similar to what they dress in there own countries...stop hating, get educated then debate, otherwise you will make an idiot out of yourself like what you just did!

44. to #41 but muslems don't respect local customs
they change local customs. and by that abuse others.

45. #12 Torah Jew
you have a point- BUT: Europeans for one are used to your way of dressing- you stand out- if you don't mind getting strange looks- fine. This kind of dressing has been around in Europe for years. Besides Europeans feel too guilty about arguing with jews anyway- so don't worry, you'll be safe.
The question here is not the Burqa in itself- it is what it represents.
In Europe and civilised western countries, men and women are equal- this is a human rights issue. If Muslim men let the women decide- I am talking 100% free decision, no pressure, the veiling might be accepted. It is not... Muslim women in Europe in general are isolated from the world- totally dependent on their husbands and the mullahs.
THIS is the issue. Knowing extremists stubborness and weird thinking they will not give in- all in the name of religion.
Here in Spain the government is teaching the muslim women in special classes about child rearing, health, learning the new language, cooking lessons- It gets the women out of the house, they are with other women, they learn local customs, language, how to apply for permits- they are taught to integrate. It does not mean they lose their heritage- but they learn to live in a Western country- which they wanted in the first place...so far it seems to be working- much better than in France.

46. #18 William?
hey, great idea- we have too many unemployed workers in Europe- we could send them to Israel?
Do you think Sarkozy would cry if many of them left? What was your point?
|
|
47. #26 nothing!
the French president and most world leader do NOT care what you do - this is your decision- .
Has Sarkoszy said anything about the haredi riots? Does he comment on segregated buses in Jerusalem?
The burqa is a sign of male domination, it is a security thread (as you well know yourself when women hide bombs)- there is NO religious significance- it is just plain male chauvinism of the worst kind- brain washing of women.
They came to Europe, they brought their baggage with them- bad move.
leave it- or lump it.
|
|
48. #35 eytan from Miami
nobody is asking you thought, LOL.
There are perfectly normal Muslims that are well integrated, just as there are perfectly normal Americans in Europe that are integrated and love it- they do not walk around in a cowboy hat and a gun either.
Most Muslim women do NOT wear a burqa in case you are interested- it is a small extremist group from the Maghreb only.
A Burqa is a security threat- a safety concern in traffic- to name just two reasons for banning it.
If nothing else- security should ring a bell with you Americans.

49. #42 Brian- kippah
Brian, Steve was being sarcastic- the Muslims demand to wear their sign of religion (well not really true, but what do extremist know anyway)-
so, if we Christians and Jews demand the same, we should be able to visit Arab countries without getting into trouble- you know it does not work that way.
As for wearing religious garb in public: I think Christians would also not wear huge Crosses around their necks- anywhere- in today's world anything that makes you different from the crowd has the potential of making you a target even in a free and progressive country. If you wear a kippah- you also stand out in a crowd- and therefore ..... fill in the blanks...you know there is always a certain percentage of radical idiots in every crowd-

Oh, really?
the exeption is hardly the rule.
How about women walking in haredi neighborhood without a scarf, in a short skirt? Do you really think a Western woman would dare wearing a regular western outfit in a religious section of any town,be it in Israel , an Arab section in a French city, or the Arab section in Barcelona..and not risk being molested?.. this would also apply to Jewish people wearing kippah or schtriemels in Arab neighborhoods. in Europe..you don't go around provoking religious fanatics of any religion. I would call this common sense.
re European women dressing..... in Arab countries: yes when they are on holidays- and at the resorts- not when they go shopping in the bazaars or visiting a mosque. There are more liberated Arab countries, but even there the foreign women are told to 'cool it'.
