1. Long jail sentences are needed
I can only hope for the sake of freedom , justice and democray that these religous freeloading holigans are given long jail sentences. Let them riot in prison where they belong. These people are not only a danger to the public but they are destroying freedom and democracy .
Time to get tough and give them long jail sentences where they can join their pal Benizri. Im assured the meals are kosher.

3. Five minors.....
A minor with a police indictment…………for rioting in our Holy City…….......on Shabbat. They must be SO proud.
I think they can safely be put onto society's no-hoper list of Losers.
They clearly do not aspire to anything. No hopes, no dreams, no nothing.
And the seculars pay the price.

4. Forgotten enlightenment
It is so refreshing to hear resonable voices speaking out against relgious zeal. In America, the only western country that has become more religious, the forum and diaolgue is largley dictated by some religious overtone. Most notabley issues concerning abortion and gay rights. Its encouraging the see resistence to non rational relgious thinking from a traditionally religiously based society from progressive and secular thinkers.

7. Make them join the Army
It is not fair that the majority of Israelis serve their country in the IDF, while Haredim are not required to.
Those who don't serve are protected daily by people who put their lives on the line to keep Israel safe.
All Haredim should be conscripted into the military, and nobody should be able to be exempt because they are doing Yeshiva study.
Now that the IDF has introduced programs like the Netzah Yehuda, Haredim cannot use the excuse that army service is incompatible with their lifestyle.
Perhaps if these rioters had been forced to serve, they would have learnt some respect, and had enough sense not to start a riot.

8. #2 I've read it, and my original comment wasn't posted.
As far as I'm concerned, if they are guilty of the charges against them - *particularly* on the matter of assaulting police officers, they should be tried and punished. These sorts of actions are unacceptable, and I am also left to wonder what precisely they had in mind if they lifted items to throw at policemen during the Shabbat - that very action *in itself* is a desecration of the Shabbat, and the throwing goes against the very basics of Judaism.
For once I hope the police arrested the right people! Though I can't help but wonder why they didn't file indictments for the others as well, if they were also guilty of such behavior... I suspect the others will only be accused of illegal assembly, and maybe disturbing public peace.
The problem I have with that is that you can apply that to *every single protester* whose protest was not approved beforehand. Every single one, in the entire country. I'm going to wait and see how this progresses, to be sure.

9. #5 + #7
No, no, and again no!!!!
The United States, has had a lot of trouble, to put it mildly, from thugs who were allowed to join the army in lieu of prison time.
Last thing we need.
Try them as adults and give them a maximum sentence.
