that Germany of today is not the Germany of the 30's, brain washing that germans r evile is wrong and shouldn't be tought, the contant of the cariculum should be nutral. polish, und other countries also slaughterd jews during the 30's befor the final solution and there r not much publication on them, I think if students will get the big pic they will find out that reality is not as they thought.

3. Tony Judt on Holocaust
observer   (07.07.09)
Tony Judt, a prominent Jewish scholar who lives and works in New York, wrote : “Students today do not need to be reminded of the genocide of the Jews, the historical consequences of anti-Semitism, or the problem of evil. They know all about these – in ways our parents never did. And that is as it should be. But I have been struck lately by the frequency with which new questions are surfacing: `Why do we focus so much on the Holocaust?’ `Why is it illegal [in certain countries] to deny the Holocaust but not other genocides?’ `Is the threat of anti-Semitism not exaggerated?’ And, increasingly, `Doesn’t Israel use the Holocaust as an excuse?’ I do not recall hearing those questions in the past.”

6. Maybe the vacation to Europe has something to do with this?
bobby ,   usa   (07.08.09)
A chance to get away from the parents and go wild in Poland. I can understand the high numbers! What would be even more educational would be a school junket to one of the Shoah denier conferences, to learn how the enemy thinks!
7. to #6 have you visited there? I suggest you will
ghostq   (07.08.09)
having a so call vacation neer a mount of human skulls is really fun. or maybe is the big amount of tomb stone and memorial brother graves that decorate the scenery that can make you calm and easy. get real, noone is getting fun there.
8. #6 + #7
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (07.12.09)
I am totally against the business of visiting Poland. All the people who made Aliya managed to learn about the Holocaust without putting moneyi Polish coffers.
9. Again the same, to Dorothy Friend
April ,   Malbourne   (07.13.09)
Dorothy, you are still saying the same crap. When are you going to undersand that all the visits to Auschwitz (Oswiecim)do not enreach any "Polish coffers". This is another myth that many people in Israel share, but it is simply not true. A few thousands Jewish tourists do not make any difference to local economy. Entry money do support the museum, but it is a small proportion of what is realy required. By what I read in a few articles (to be also found here), Israeli students are not the best tourists in Poland (mostly rude, destroying hotel rooms etc) and most of the operators would be finely do without them given the number of tourists coming every year to Poland. If you are in favour of boycoting trips to Poland, pls check with Israeli statistics who many tourists come every year from Poland to Israel. Quote: Poland is a particularly important source market for the Israeli tourism industry. The number of Polish tourists coming to visit Israel has been continuously rising over the few last years. Actually, there has been a 104 per cent increase in the number of Poles visiting the country in 2007 compared to 2006. Approximately 86,000 Poles traveled to Israel in 2007. In January 2008 there were 8347 tourists from Poland, which is a 169 per cent increase over the number of visitors in January 2007. This makes Poland the fifth most important European source market for the Israeli tourism industry. Tourism-Review.com As you could see, Poles are not as biased, anti-semitic as one may think and coming in big numbers to Israel. Many of them probably o not know how hostile Israelis are towards them. Otherwise maybe would think twice about putting money in Jewish, anti-polish coffers
10. More lessons on Holocaust ????
Marco ,   Spain   (07.14.09)
I suggest you take those students on a pilgramage to Kana in South Lebanon. They would get to see what Holocaust means upclose and personal.
11. #9 - The Poles were pogromchicks before the Nazis came
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.15.09)
...and they staged the Keltz pogroms a year after the war. So spare me your arguments of how fine they are vis a vis the Jewish people.
