1. and i was just thinking of moving to israel ..TO BE EVICTED?
....DACON9   (07.07.09)
2. Mitchell Can't Be Fooled
Arik Silverman ,   Milwaukee USA   (07.07.09)
Don't forget that he studied the issue in depth before the "Road Map" was issued. He sees what "progress" has been made, i.e, less than none. George Bush let Israel slide and evade, but Obama appears to be different. Personally, I'm waiting for the US Congress and Israel Lobby to get to Obama, but I don't know if they will. I've detected signs that he has already softened his pronouncements on a number of issues. Can Netanyahu stall long enough for that to happen?
3. You mean the lies didn't work this time?
Mkesailor ,   Miami, FL   (07.07.09)
Oh, no. The US envoy refused to buy our line of BS. He must be anti-semitic. How dare he not give something in exchange for us removing settlement outposts which even the Israelis admit are illegal. Oh woe is me, woe is me.. The world is against us.
4. Barak
David ,   Asheville NC   (07.07.09)
Barak is continuing olmert and Livni's policies Netanyahu has no longer control of the government.
5. Get rid of Ehud Barak
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.07.09)
It's time to send the retreat and surrender General into retirement. It's time to punish Netanyahu for selling out his supporters by keeping this fool in a position of power. Send BoBo to the number 33 spot on the Likud list.
6. Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing
Sidney ,   USA   (07.07.09)
They will publish this same story six months from now. There will be no peace until the Arabs give up their goal of destroying Israel. After that it will be easy.
7. Barak is a total flop
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (07.07.09)
We need to have somebody with a backbone. Why isn't Benny Begin doing the talking?
8. Only squatters get evicted.
Israel Ben Dover ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.07.09)
9. despair
eitan ,   usa   (07.07.09)
once again the wishes of the israeli voter have been thwarted. every time the right wins elections, we end up with a prime minister (be it sharon then or netayahu now) who is a leftist in rightist clothing. netanyahu stalled the forming of his new government to bring ehud barak on board, and now he's sending barak and not lieberman to to submit to the wishes of a foreign hostile government that is the usa. for how much longer can israel afford to have a leaders who are bringing the country ever closer to destruction. when will we have a leader who doesn't subscribe to the philosophy of submitting to the axe to curry greater favor with the executioner.
10. Barak
Harold ,   Liverpool, USA   (07.07.09)
Barak is just a member of Natanyahu' cabinet and does not represent the government of Israel. Obama, Hillary and Mitchell want the government of Israel headed by Natanyahu to stop illegal settlements on occupied lands. We will finds the results next week or so.
11. #3: Who are the Israelis that admit that settlements are....
!   (07.07.09)
illegal? "How dare he not give something in exchange for us removing settlement outposts which even the Israelis admit are illegal." DONT BELIEVE WHAT YOU READ.....THE ISRAELI MEDIA ARE NOT THE ISRAELI STREET! SOON ALL YOUR ARAB TERRORIST FRIENDS WILL BE DEPORTED!
12. Of course the talks flopped
Nour ,   Palestine   (07.07.09)
There's nothing to talk about. The racist wing regime continues to defy the entire world by imposing the illegal colonies as a fait-accompli, a growing one, to put icing on the cake. The world knows better. The world has had enough of this digusting, apartheid-inspired expansionism. GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WEST BANK !!!!
13. Barak (pick any one you want ) Is No Friend...
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (07.07.09)
of Jewish inhabitation of the Land of Israel. Neither are in favor of promoting Jewish sovereignty in our ancient homeland.
14. Since when is this the Defense Minister's job?
D   (07.07.09)
Isn't this the Foreign Minister's job?? To handle foreign affairs?? What the is wrong with Israel? No wonder no one takes us serious!!! Or at least do like the US, sideline Clinton and name a foreign envoy, but not the Minister of Defense!
15. THIEF WANTS REWARD FOR RETUNING STOLEN GOODS? THE CHUTZPAH!
David ,   Los Angeles   (07.07.09)
Unbelievable!
16. The West bank is the JEWISH people's 4000 YEAR OLD HOMELAND;
Jae ,   Judea   (07.07.09)
JUDEA (where the term "Jew" comes from) & SAMARIA. This is King Davids King Solomons Isaiah's Jesus's and the rest of the Jewish peoples eternal God given home. You can appreciate that o Muslim since you believe the Koran, except the part where it testifies to the land of israel belonging to the children of israel in the Book of Sura. If you dont like it go to your 25 arab countries that cover over 1,000,000 square miles and leave Israel and its 10,000 square miles alone. Move back to Arabia Syria Egypt and Iraq where 90% of palestinains recent ancestors came from in hopes of finding a job (when tens of thousands of Jews returned to the existing Jewish community in the 1800's).
17. Hmmm...
Ypip ,   Canada   (07.07.09)
18. #3 loooooooooool , I love you :)
(07.07.09)
19. "...in exchange for nothing...."
usa   (07.07.09)
Uhhhh, since when does upholding the rule of law have to involve bartering for political leverage? Either Israel stands by its laws or it doesn't. Doing the right thing will show that Israel is serious about being fair to its citizens by not allowing some crackpot zealots to intimidate the process.
20. #16 - would you stop this crap please.
(07.07.09)
what a BS !!
21. #1 - Liar. Either move or don't move..."thinking about" ...
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (07.07.09)
is just plain bullshit. And there are plenty of places aside from an outpost to which you could move. That is if you were going to do more than "think about" making aliya.
22. On the other hand Arieh Zilbermann #2 attempts fooling us
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (07.07.09)
all the time, into thinking that she is a caring Jew and not an undercover Jihadi, wanting to dismatle the only State Jews have and create on its ruins the 58th Muslim majority State, becoming the largest terrorism camp in the world.
23. Illegal? What is the Law?
Yonatan ,   Yerushalayim, Israel   (07.08.09)
Until 2 years ago, even the PLO (PA) never said anything about any towns or cities in Yesha being "illegal". Only once Olmert tried to give them 97% of Yesha did they start saying, and then screaming that they were all illegal. The Oslo accords don't call them "illegal", neither does the US roadmap. The pals scream loud and repeat themselves often and every Anti-Semite in the world, including the self-loathing Jews both in Israel and out, follow the lead of their Arab masters. But that doesn't make a "Law" nor does it make an action or situation "illegal". The term "illegal" has a legal definition. It requires that a law be passed to make something "illegal". According to Obuma and Clinton an agreement or 'piece of paper" signed by a nation's chief executive is not binding and certainly not "Law". In the US that means it has to be ratified by both Houses of Congress and, according to Title 5 (USC 5, The US Administrative Code), must be accompanied by an Implementing Regulation that meets all the requirements in Title 5. In Israel that means it has to be introduced in the Knesset, go to the appropriate committee, pass several readings in the Knesset, then be passed by a majority in accordance with the Knesset rules (I don't know if I got it perfect, but you get the picture). Could somebody please tell me the exact Laws passed by the Knesset which render the cities and towns in Yesha "illegal", which render all construction in these areas "illegal", and which define all construction of new towns and cities in Yesha "illegal". I have been unable to find them on any English web search and I don't read Hebrew. Please tell me the specifics of these Laws including the number, date of passage, by how many votes, and the date the Laws went into effect. I expect that those who do not respect the Law when it disagrees with their propaganda will take offense to this. Peace Now first said "Migron was built on land owned by Arabs who were displaced". But now that the community has brought proof in court that the land was undeveloped, uncultivated and vacant without ownership, Peace Now says that doesn't matter because since the PA "claims' the area as part of their "future state' the Jews should be removed anyway. The Law doesn't matter to Arabs or leftists and neither does the truth if they can't twist it to their benefit.
24. Sure, no surprise. Both Barak & Mitchell are huge flops
Dan   (07.08.09)
25. Stop talking about the F-35 for one thing
Steve from Raleigh   (07.08.09)
Israel should pull out of the F-35 program immediately. Let the US find their own customers for a $120 million airplane no one wants. Next Israel should unilaterally propose a planned build down of all US aid to Israel in a fixed timeline in as few as 3 years. In 3 years don't take a dime from the US. In the meantime develop a credible ABM system based on PAC-3 and close down the American Radar installation in the Negev. Israel also needs to state that they will stop sharing all intelligence with the US as of a fixed date. There's enough credible evidence to suggest that Lebanon got help from the US in rolling up Mossad agents in Lebanon. When all is said and done the US is not Israel's ally. It's something less than that. Not exactly an enemy but something more akin to the US relationship with Taiwan. Leave it at that.
26. Illegality?
Gary Glaser ,   Hutchinson, MN, USA   (07.08.09)
My previous reply was probably a little hot to be printed, but #23 made my point about illegality better than I could have done. I wholeheartedly support his view.
27. #16 - your myths are passe
P ,   Philadelphia   (07.08.09)
Your myths, just as those of the muslims about mohammad, are irrelevant ties that perpetuate the cycle of violence. Homelands, whatever their form, are among the most stupid ideas humanity has ever created. Unless you want to look like the British National Party, and swept aside just as they have been, you will have to evolve your views and work for peace and coexistence. The Arabs who were injured by the seizure of Ottoman/Arab/British lands will have to get over claiming everything for themselves too.
28. Barak has to go
ALAN ,   Texas   (07.08.09)
Netanyahu should fire barak and replace him with Feiglin!
29. illegal?
David ,   USA, exile   (07.08.09)
What is illegal is the UN or the US or any other entity telling a sovereign nation what to do within its own borders. Another thing that is illegal is for a man to assume the office of the President of the United States, with or without the consent of the governed without proving that he is in fact a natural born citizen.
30. To no. 1
Varda Silver ,   Haifa   (07.08.09)
If you move to Israel, you will not be evicted. If you move to Palestine (the sp-called "Judea and Samaria" than yes, you WILL be evicted in short order. Don't go there!
