A well organized information war against Israel is in the offing, and Israel is getting shredded. The Internet is a cesspool for a myriad of anti-Israel, anti-Zionist, and anti-Jewish slanders and lies. The vast majority of the Israeli public would love for this disinformation to be countered by Israel's side of the story, but most people do not want to get involved. For Israel's government to encourage or even pay talkbackers to fight the good fight in the information war should appear as a great Mitzvah to all - all except for those who wish Israel harm.

That's why Israelis decided at the election booths to place the Left on the chopping block. Netanyahu's government policies, unlike Rona's, are well within the mainstream of the Israeli public opinion. However, Israelis, unlike Pallywood, have always been apathetic and aloof about presenting their side of the story to the world. Also, Israel does not have the numbers. The Islamic/Arab/Palestinian crowd and their Leftist allies, as well as the traditional haters of Jews, are orders of magnitude greater in number than the Israeli/Jewish crowd, and therefore are more effective in flooding the Internet with their disinformation. That is why this initiative is being launched.

Now that Israel has again run out of excuses for its -sh*t- behavior it now has to lie and pay to try and worm its way out of a tarnished global image. Good luck. And by -sh*t- behavior, I mean killing all those people with military and chemical weapons. After all your populations have been through historically - you have emulated your former oppressors. We can all see what you are doing now, and know that you have learned -nothing- from history. You are NOT special - despite your own beliefs to the contrary. Rona Kuperboim makes some good points in this article. I wonder if some of the people attacking the writer are the paid liars/bulls**t artists that the article refers to? On another note, the fact that Israel has to pay people to write favorably about it speaks volumes about the situation that Israel's numerous crimes have put it in. So, how many of the people who have responded here were paid to do so? When you think about that don't you tend to discount them more? I don't. I look at the logic of what they say and judge them on that basis. It doesn't matter whether they're sincere or whether it's just a job for them. What matters is the actual ideas they present. And on that basis there just is not much here at all.

Well the hasbara, blackmail and (even government!) censorship has been in full swing in Canada for well over a year, maybe more. At least one human-rights NGO has been taken over by right-wing, fundamentalist pseudo-Christian millenarist "Harperbots" because that NGO denounced Hardened Lead. The president of the NGO died of a heart attack over the harassment he received for months. I could tell you litterally hundreds of hasbara and harassment interventions I am aware of. It is clear it is an organised campaign. They also tried to have an exhibition of pictures from Gaza closed this spring in Montreal by blackmailing the cinema in whose lobby the exhibition was held.
