33. Israel: We are keeping the entire Golan forever...here's why
To all Syrians: when you declare your aim is to annihalate the Jewish State and all the Jews there, when you lose three times in bloody wars which you initiated in pursuit of that evil plan, when you torture and poke the eyes out and behead the brave Israeli soldiers on the Golan who were there to defend Israel, when you shelter and fund terrorist killers and offer safe haven to WWII Nazi murderers... when you do all these evil things and more, for over sixty years... YOU HAVE LOST ALL CLAIMS TO THE GOLAN. THE GOLAN BELONGS TO ISRAEL FOREVER.

34. Peace for Peace, no more and no less!!!
Syria used the Golan three times, 1948, 1967 and 1973, to launch a war on Israel, aiming to wipe Israel off the face of earth, having done so as part of coalition of several Muslim-Arab countries.
Syria used the Golan between 1949 and 1967 to attack Jewish fishermen at work in the inneret and farmers at work on their land of collective and cooperative villages of the Hula Valley.
Syria is presently part of a coalition that by creed and deed is involved in advancing the idea of wiping Israel off the face of earth, i.e. Iran-Hizballa-Islamic Jihad-Hamas-Syria.
Syria has never accepted UN General Assembly Resolution 181 calling for the establishment of Israel, and never accepted out right UN Security Council Resolution 242 designed to resolve the Arab Israeli conflict in 1967, the Six-Day War.
With this record, Syria is not interested in peace and never has. Thus, if it does, it will receive peace from Israel in return, that is it.

35. Jagger: "You can't... always get... what you wa'ant"
As Mick Jagger of the Stones sang back in '69, "You can't... always get... what you wa'ant. But if you try sometime, you might find, you get what you need."
Syria has no legal claim on the Golan Heights. It belonged to ancient Judea, then known as Bashan, and was granted to the Jews under the League of Nations Mandate of 1922. The Brits *illegally* ceded it to the French Mandate in return for British rights over Iraq. It became part of Syria, but Syria lost any rights it might have had by engaging in aggression against Israel in '67 and '73. Under the established laws of war, Israel can now claim sovereign rights over the land.
Syria can bellyache all it wants. Israel must NEVER cede that land to Syria or anyone else. Peace for peace.

36. NO Golan for Syria
Peace or no peace there will be no Golan for Syria. The Golan is Israel's historic land since ancient time which Israel liberated in the 20th century. The strategic value of the Golan far outstrips any Islamist-Jihadist peace crap.

38. #35 Raymond, another line from that song comes to mind
with regards to Syria and its intentions:
"I saw her today at the reception;
In her glass was a bleeding man.
She was practiced at the art of deception;
Well, I could tell by her blood-stained hands".

39. jabba the hut is back and making little sense
Let see, give Syria back the Golan for free ... while they support Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran and all the other nazi loving terrorists in the middle east who only want to hurt innocent Israelis ... seems reasonalbe if you take drugs. For the rest of the sane world, which may not include obama, the syrians are dreaming. Their phony annoucements of wanting peace are betrayed by their actions ... like trying to build a nuke factory ... this is why there is no peace in the middle east, the arabs are all too busy deluding themsleves.

41. Adam - statistics lie.
What were the numbers in 1948, 67 etc etc. By statistics Israel should not have survived 1 day after being attacked in 1948. And the same in every other war. But with G-d help, not statistics, we have. Which is why they are turning to terrorism and politics to try kill off tiny Israel. Please G-d he should remain on our side there too, and yet again, surprisingly the Arabs will be defeated time and time again.

42. Assad has learned how to pull Obamas strings
First we had this interview on SKY news where he officially invited Obama to come to Damascuss to talk peace.
Now he has his foreign minister saying
HIS COUNTRY'S SUPPORT FOR ACHIEVING A FAIR AND GLOBAL PEACE IN THE REGION IN A DEAL IN LINE WITH THE PRINCIPLE OF LAND FOR PEACE
He knows that talk like that is irrisistable to Obama and bound to make him come along and agree with Syrias demands.
The American president has allowed himself to become a puppet and the arabs pull his strings.
Obama is like a gun and the arabs are holding the gun and shooting it at Israel.
Everytime he gets back from an arab state he returns with even stricter demands from Israel and more support for arab policies.

43. Eli Cohen
I suppose one could suggest to the Syrians that if they would agree to repatriate the remains of Eli Cohen, z.l., Israel just might be sufficiently mollified so as not to advance beyond Quneitra.
Otherwise .... the sky's the limit, Syria. No pun intended (although I do remember that fine day when 82 Syrian MIGs were shot down in the span of about an hour and a half --- with no Israeli losses.
Syria REALLY needs a reality check. Israel can destroy Syria after breakfast and be home comfortably in time for lunch.
The Golan Heights are definitely not on the table. But I think Israel should ask for repatriation of the remains of Eli Cohen z.l. --- and in return, Israel could promise not to destroy Syria.
Worthy of consideration, at any rate.

44. Moallem & Assad should democratize first...
modernize second...
free dissidents thirds...
create an economy fourth...
stop interfering in Lebanese and Palestinian affairs fifth...
THEN make any international demand, when you are clearly the laughing stock of the Arab world. Not a single shot fired at Israel since those Zionists took what's not theirs, yet you have the nerve to preach about principals?
No question The Golan will soon return to Syrians, its rightful and historical owners, however it won't be on the hands of Assad and the Moallem fatso.

45. Syria used the Golan only to attack Israel, several times.
Israel, in purely defensive wars, repelled the Syrians away from the launching pad. Why should Israel take additional risks when the Syrians refuse to recognize Israel's right to be, to exist?!

47. return of the golan
the golan will return to syria, by way of peace or treaty or force eventually. save yourselfs some time and give it up already. as egypt and jordan before it, once syria receives their land, they will end their state of hostilities. syria has not attacked israel in decades, yet you keep using them as an excuse to steal land. we're tired of these lies of israel turning barren land into a garden, bullcrap, the negev is just as barren now as it was then. thats why you steal palestinian land. end this farce already. no one is out to get the jews, its all in your head.

49. 3 genocidal wars & they want to go back to square one
Syria was involved in 3 wars of annihilation against the Jews, 48, 67 & 73. They lost all 3 but everyone must remember these are genocidal wars. NO JEW WAS TO BE ALLOWED TO SURVIVE. This is documented by all sides & has not been disputed. SO they lost 3 wars & now want to get back what they claim (the claim is also disputed) they lost. OK lets give Germany back all of its land in Eastern Europe, the Greeks back part of whats now Turkey need I go on.

54. #44, Look at the pot calling the kettle black.
Syria needs to "democratize first" before Israel should return the Golan to Syria? LOL. Then what about "Palestine"? Get your head out of the sand, dear.
My advice to you and all the Arabs is, stop making prophecies that clearly do not materialize. Syria attacked Israel in 1948, 1967, 1973 with the stated objective of annihilating and exterminating Israel. Any tenuous right they may have had to the Golan has vanished into thin air, in the same way they lost their right to other historic parts of "natural Syria", Lebanon and Hatay-Iskenderun. This right will not come back to Syria even if they become a model Jeffersonian Democracy, just as the right to control former East Prussia, Konigsberg-Kaliningrad and other centuries-old parts of Germany will never return to the modern democratic Germany.

55. #47, "syria has not attacked israel in decades"
That is right. Syria has not attacked Israel in decades. You know why? Because after Syria's defeat in 1973, Israel was in spitting distance of Damascus, and had full control over the summits of the Hermon and the Eastern Golan. In 1974, Israel disengaged from these areas so that a demilitarized zone would be created between Israeli and Syrian forces. If the Syrian tanks enter those areas, Israel will know of an impending invasion well in advance, and be able to respond accordingly.
Why would Israel even consider changing the status quo?
|
|
56. What were the Syrians doing in Tel Dan & Shar Yashuv in '67?
and what were their planes and artillery doing over Tiberias and the Upper Galilee in 1967 at the beginning of the 6 Day War, before a single Israeli shot was fired at Syria.
Israel did not occupy the Golan Heights until the 5th day of the 6 Day War, bringing to an end a sustained Syrian artillery barrage at the civilian towns below.
