US: Construction in east Jerusalem will hurt peace process    Yitzhak Benhorin
1. Obama and arabs
What exactly has obama asked the arabs to do-Almost nothing. In any case, King fahd said no, he wasn't making any gestures. Now obama is a smart fellow, well-intended and is right on health care, the enviroment and getting out of iraq, the sooner the better as iraq is still embroiled in jihad. On Israel, obama knows the story of it being a reliable western ally. However, he is torn to the arabs for 3 reasons and strong reasons: 1) he was raised in an islamic school which he played down during the election and he is somewhat brainwashed. 2) His best friend is rashidi who he had regular dinners with and heard the arab tale-israel took arab land and kicked the arabs out. He did not hear that the UN established israel legally, 5 arab states attacked and many arabs left at the behest of the rulers of the arab countries at the time. He does not want to hear of ancient israel and its history and the arab aggression towards israel. 3) Finally, he feels that he can drive a wedge in the islamic world by selling off israel. The arabs will doublecross the US even if israel is destroyed which hamas to its credit honestly says. The others deny it but secretly wish it. Just as the russians are taking obama to the cleaners on the "liberal" medvedev, while putin calls the soviet shots of guns and oil, the arabs will screw obama in the end. Surprisingly. Kenya of all african countries knows israelis, trusts them and could tell obama of the arab slavery of the africans. Yet he is commanded by the mosque alloha akbar command to destroy israel. So he uses olmert's obcene concessions as a starting point. Fortunately Israel has men with guts-bibi, barak, lieberman, shoval, arad, ashkenazi to advance its position with strength and to permit no more chezoslovakia sudentenland deals of 1939. Olmert, beilin, livni, turgeman, turbowicz and yeheszkel ben ami, peres, marcus, verter and barnea have the blood of thousands of israeli victims of oslo and gaza on their hands. Sharon told bush that israel will not permit another munich sellout and he meant it. Instead, Olmert offered a binational palestine state and dismantling of israel. Israel has to go its own way and should stock up on reserves. Let the US takes arabs as allies and we wish them good luck. You can count the hours before the arabs screw the USA. Whatever peace is established, it has to based on the arabs becoming tired of war(like egypt), honoring deals with secure arrangements, and israel being able to defend itself. QAs 1956, and 1967 and 1973 proved, other than material supply,t he UN , the UK and the USA cannot gurantee any security arrangements. The balfour mandate needs to be reopened to discuss the jordanian part of palestine and insert it into the discussion.

2. no talks
The American says that construction will hurt talks, but there are no talks and there are no negotiations. The Obama administration has decided to stop all negotiations between the parties and impose as many Arab demands on Israel as possible.

4. J Street Collaborates with Obama to undermine Israel
J Street collaborates with Obama to undermine Israel's security and the right of Jewish people to pray at the temple mount. People in the US must realize that J Street is a threat to Israel's security and religious freedom.
David ,   Montpelier USA   (07.21.09)
5. Talks?
The only issue that hurts talks is the absence of Arab good faith.

6. Build E1
Building in Sheikh Jarrah isnt enough. Build in Sheikh Jarrah AND build Mevasseret Adumim. Bibi should build the 3000 units in E1 and tell Abbas to go to hell. That will work especially well since Obama's approval rating is plummeting and next year when unemployment goes over 10% he and all the democrats will lose the midterm elections. He might even lose the 2012 elections with the way things are shaping up. This administration cant even pass health care reform! now theyre gonna dictate construction in sheikh jarrah!!?? HA. yeah right. give me a break. just build the apartments and enough complaining already. if obama complains tell him to put a sock in it and shut up and keep running GM, that should keep him busy for a few years...

7. Hurt peace process?
What peace process? Hurt negotiations? What negotiations? We were also hurt enough....and.... enough is enough. Jerusalem belongs to Israel -always was and always will. All of it.

8. It doesn't matter....
It doesn't matter even if every country in the world didn’t recognize a united Jerusalem as the eternal capital city of the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. All that matters is that G-d recognizes a united Jerusalem as the capital city of Land of Israel and the Jewish people. The Land of Israel including JERUSALEM was given to the Jewish people as an eternal promise from G-d. Period! End of story! Finished!

9. Moslem Professor: Quran States that Holy Land is Jewish
Khaleel Mohammed, Assistant Professor at the Department of Religious Studies at San Diego State University, is the latest Moslem expert to say that the Quran - the holiest Moslem work - is actually Zionist. In an interview with Jamie Glazov of FrontPageMagazine.com three days ago (June 3, 2004), Mohammed quoted the Qur'an (5:20-21) as saying: "Moses said to his people: O my people! Remember the bounty of God upon you when He bestowed prophets upon you, and made you kings and gave you that which had not been given to anyone before you amongst the nations. O my people! Enter the Holy Land which God has written for you, and do not turn tail, otherwise you will be losers." Prof. Mohammed emphasized that the above phrase "God has written for you" is very significant: "In both Jewish and Islamic understandings of the term 'written,' there is the meaning of finality, decisiveness and immutability... So the simple fact is then, from a faith-based point of view: If God has 'written' Israel for the people of Moses, who can change this?" He also quoted two of Islam's most famous exegetes - Ibn Kathir and Muhammad al-Shawkani - as supporting this explanation. Imam Abdul Hadi Palazzi, secretary-general of the Italian Muslim Association, has long promoted that it is possible to be a Muslim scholar and leader and still support America, Israel and democracy. Citing pro-Jewish verses in the Quran, Sheikh Palazzi told a Jewish audience in Cleveland recently, "There are many good Muslims who value life on earth and the sanctity of their families. Israel should make every effort to support the growth of a pro-Israel movement among these Muslims... [but sadly, Muslims in Israel were emotionally and morally defeated by the Oslo Accords.] They felt that Israel was selling them out to Arafat. They need to be supported and encouraged to speak out in defense of Israel without fear of being assassinated by the PLO or Hamas... Oslo signaled to many of us that Israel was ready to accept peace at any price, and make incredible concessions to ruthless criminals." Arab-American Nonie Darwish has recently opened a website <"www.ArabsforIsrael.com">. The site states, inter alia, "We are Arabs and Moslems who believe we can support the State of Israel and the Jewish religion and still treasure our Arab and Islamic culture." Prof. Mohammed, in his interview with FrontPageMagazine, apportions at least partial blame for today's wars to the Muslims of the 7th century: "[W]hen the Muslims entered that land [the Holy Land] in the seventh century, they were well aware of its rightful owners [the Jews], and when they failed to act according to divine mandate (at least as perceived by followers of all Abrahamic faiths), they aided and abetted in a crime. And the present situation shows the fruits of that action - wherein innocent Palestinians and Israelis are being killed on a daily basis." "When the Muslims conquered Jerusalem," Prof. Mohammed continued, "it should have been left open for the rightful owners to return. It is possible that Jewish beliefs of the time only allowed such return under a Messiah - but that should not have influenced Muslim action... [The] Muslim occupation and building a mosque on the site of the Temple was something that was not sanctioned by The Quran. How honest is contemporary Islam with this? Given the situation in the Middle East, politicking, etc. stands in the way of honesty." http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/63552

10. Exile
Is Obama the King of Assyria or the emperor of Rome that he demands Jews be exiled from any part of Israel's capital ? He needs to review history and get it right, unlike his erroneous version given in Cairo. Has he demanded Russia leave Georgia ?
Matthew ,   Us   (07.21.09)
11. It is Israel's Land since Ancient Time
The State Dept should shut up and stop playing god on Israel. Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria belong to Israel since Ancient Time. The descendants of the Islamist-Jihadist marauders and terrorists who came from Arabia in the 7th century should stop usurping the Land of Israel from the Jews. The Land of Israel is GOD-given and GOD-restored to the Jews. Israel should continue to build and build in the Land of their forefathers-the Land of Israel. Israel should defend every inch of its liberated historic homeland. Never give in to the threats, pressures, manipulations, demands, and cries of the world of AntiSemites and Islamist-Jihadists led by Satan. The GOD of Israel will protect and defend Israel always from the assaults of Satan and his forces.

12. Obama's understanding of the issue is that of Rev. Right's
and Wright's friend, Louise Farakhan. There is no other way to understand this attitude of malice towards Jews and Judaism which is the civilization of nearly 4,000 years of age of the Jewish people.

15. The Big Lie about Jerusalem
When you tell a Big Lie and repeat it often, it achieves credibility and legs of its own. In Islam, telling a lie to infidels for the sake of defeating them is acceptable, even desirable. In fact, Muhammad died in 632 c.e. Jerusalem was subsequently captured from the Romans by caliph Omar, six years after Muhammad's death. Before 638 c.e.there were only churches in Jerusalem and a church stood on the Temple Mount, called the Church of Saint Mary of Justinian, as described at : http://xrl.us/bjheo

16. Oren - it's not about you darling
You're just a man, be a man, speak out against the Communists' take-over of the State Department and the White House, forget your own reputation, you don't matter whatsoever. Don't grovel before the goyim, don't disgust us like Clown Olmo and Clown Tsipo.

21. Hurt the peace process?
So much as one board put up in one outpost will totally make peace impossible. There is no peace process. There is a process of Israel saying it wants peace while it continually steals land.
Jerrold Cohen ,   Seal Beach, USA   (07.21.09)
22. PAROAH SAID---
Throw only the new born male jews into the sea. Obama is saying much worse. Throw all the Jews out of Israel into the sea. Obama, if this is what you want than give back all the land you stole from the American Native Indians whom you systematically butchered, tortured & killed in the 1800s

25. I agree with all of the TB's here
I think the US should stop interfering in Israels issues, I think my Country should stop trying to strong arm you into making decisions you dont want to make. I believe the US should stop trying to influence Israels foreign policy. I also believe the US should immediately stop all aid to Israel and withdraw all funding of ANY sort. I believe the US should withdraw the $3 Billion Dollars per year America gives to Israel and the free military aid in parts, technology, etc. Yes we would have to suffer, not having to listen to your whining on a daily basis will be hard at first, but we will have to get used to it, it might even take us out of the cross hairs of every religious nut with an agenda. But we will have to get used to that too. Now what could we possibly do with $3 Billion dollars that we save each year.... Hmmmm, Not sure yet, but Im sure we will find a way to spend it, maybe a little more wisely.
Chocko ,   NY, USA   (07.21.09)
26. #17, we went through this crap with Carter
It will pass, Obama won't get a second term and the US will get a president who is neither a coward nor a moron.

27. An open message to Secretary of State Clinton
B"H If a Jewish construction anywhere anytime "hurts talks", than it is better to hurt those talks.

28. The State Department Is Mistaken
It thinks that it is easier to push Israel into make concessions on construction than to convince the Arabs to drop this unreasonable demand. So they think. What they forget is that the Jews will not abandon their right to build in their Land of Israel, because it is their land. The US underestimates the will of the Israeli populace on this issue and is using the sad example of Gush Katif as a model for their pressuring. They are wrong. What Gush Katif proved, in fact, was that withdrawal from the Land and destruction of Jewish communities does nothing to bring peace closer to our region. It just brought missiles down on the heads of the innocent people of Sderot.

29. SETTLEMENTS
ANY NATION THAT THINKS SETTLEMENTS ARE OUT, CAN BEGIN DISMANTLING THEIRS IN THE AMERICAN CONTINENT, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND. ANY NATION THAT BUILDS ON LAND THAT WAS THEIRS FROM THE OUTSET, SJCH AS THE NATION OF ISREAL HAS GTHE RIGHT TO BUILD ON IT., ANYBODY WHO THINKS THAT ISRAEL WAS FOUNDED TO BE DEPENDENT ON ANY OTHER STATE, PLEASE COME FORWARD. ANYBODY WHO CLAIMS TO BE A FRIEND FO ISRAEL AND THEN PROPOSES SOLUTIONS THAT WILL ENDANGER IT, IS NO SUCH FRIEND. MAHIR ZARA

30. Not a smart move
I live three houses down the road from that site. The area is inhabited by mainly affluent Palestinians and Western consulates, a couple hospitals and few western expat families. It is a calm and peaceful neighborhood that Palestinians and Israelis pass through daily on their way to work and back. Many people going to Hadassah and Hebrew Uni or Sufat Beit Hanina depend on that road. I guess now it will all change, it will become hostile knowing that those who will inhabit the units will be right wing fanatics. What is funny is that I have been waiting 18 years for the Jerusalem Municipality to grant me a building permit on my land next to the site, now according to the law once the 20 unit plans are approved, mine will too as well as all the other Arab owners there. Hope our new neighbors will be nice people and I am sure the existing Sheppard Hotel building is a landmark building not to be demolished. It is an architectural preservation site.
