L., being a local, should have recommended a restaurant and even arrange reservations, etc.
The thing is that when you have guests and especially business guests, you can't just not show up. I eat kasher and I have regular business meetings but I will never say, no I can't come etc. This is considered to be rude. She should have suggested a kosher restaurant.
