1. Please remember that we were once refugees
Sammy Hann ,   NYC USA   (07.30.09)
Please remember that we were once refugees and have rachmunas. Hashem will reward us. Lets be a 'light unto the nations".
2. REFUGEES
artemis ,   LA USA   (07.30.09)
iN THE US ILLEGAL IMMIGRINTS BARE THEIR CHILREN IN THE US. GAIN CITIZENSHIP AND THE ARENTS BECOME DE FACTO CITIZENS. EDUCATION AND MEDICAL SYSTEM ARE COLLAPSING IN THE STATES WHERE THIS OCURRS, ONLY QUALIFIED IMMIGRINTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO ENTER ISRAEL WHO CAN IMMEDIATELY CONTRIBUTE. THE US FAILED POLICY OF ROTECTING CHILDREN HAS HARDLY PROVED SUCCESFUL AS THE SYSTEM IS EASILY MANIPULATED.....BE WATCHFUL OFHUMANISTIC MOTIVES THAT HAVE A POLITICAL AGENDA
3. where were these arguments when Gush Katif was rooted out?
Golan ,   SL   (07.30.09)
Oh stop using kids for political arguments. And stop feeling sorry for these kids. Yes they are cute. So are kittens. But the bottom line is they have no right to be here, they are hurting the economic stability and that hurts Israeli citizen's children who are just as cute and also remind me of kittens.
4. CONVERT TO JUDAISM OR LEAVE ISRAEL!
andy ,   orlando   (07.30.09)
5. human rights groups are prejudiced
bezalel ,   tel aviv   (07.30.09)
this is a very humane thing they are doing-to be concerned about deporting kids-but where were these same human rights groups when gush katif kids were thrown out of their homes?
6. Of cause you can present this issue from another perspective
(07.30.09)
the life of Israelis in Arad became unbearable because of the crime waive created by the parents of those adorable children. Somehow, after all I have read, I don't trust any 'human rights organization' to have the well- being of the Israelis in mind, unless they happen to be Arabs.
7. Full solidarity to these children
Avi-former Sruggie ,   Israel   (07.30.09)
A people who has been deported many times cannot deport helpless children. Israel, where is your soul???!!!
8. Stop the deportation !
Sharon ,   Yavne   (07.30.09)
I love Israel! However I hate what I read. Stop the children's deportation immediately !!! If you are good Israelis- don't do that! If you are good Jews- don't do that !!!
9. tough decision made harder
izzy d   (07.30.09)
the hutzpah of these right groups!! 1. A few hundred letters does not represent the "voice of the public" 2. using language indicating that the govt is "ignoring" that deporting these childrin will be hard for them. 3. I despise you people. who do not understand the basic and underlying results of illegal immigration. all you can focus on is feelings and yet again thinking rationally about anythig is beyond you. I support deporting illigal aliens. "inhuman" is subjecting the grownups that run your country and have to be practical and realistic and also deal with your immature behavior. get over your humanity, you do not deserve it.
10. Deporting them immoral
GHook93 - US Jew ,   Chicago   (07.30.09)
They were born in Israel and speak hebrew sending them to say Sudan or other African countries would be murder!
11. where were the humanitarians when Jewish kids were deported
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (07.30.09)
from Gaza by brutal force?
12. African immigrants easily bring their children to Europe,USA
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (07.30.09)
and Israel when they are under no duress to do so, seeking better employment opportunities what is wrong in taking these children somewhere else? Visualize that Israel is Africa and Africa is Israel and everything will be fine
13. Innocent people should not be arrested.
vered ,   israel   (07.30.09)
The Jewish State should not just be about "Purity" and degree of Jewishness; it should also be about what we believe the Jewish character has been for the past 2000 years in exile: mercy, kindness, tolerance and acceptance. These children are Israelis. They have committed no crime. Religion is not just about praying and observing the holidays. Love of God means love of human beings .
14. OUTRAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gabor Frankl ,   Budapest, Hungary   (07.30.09)
I think it should be a no-brainer to give die-hard enemies of Israel, and rest assured, there are "tons", millioms of them throughout the world today, additional reasons to brand Israel as a fascist state, which you all with good reason and total justification, reject. But it seems there are fleeting instances when this unfair claim can, SADLY, very sadly, stand on its feet! And emphatically NOT because of the general public, ut because of the political class, the Interior Ministry Shas establishments. You can censor my comment all you want I couldn't care less as a 500 per cent supporter of Israel, though you in Israel would be wise to keep this in mind! Fränkl Gábor, The grandson of Auschwitz-Birkenau now departed Hungarian Jewish grandparents, 3rd generation
15. Refugees' children
Linda ,   Israel   (07.30.09)
This is an unfortunate situation for these children, as their parents probably had them in hope of gaining Israeli citizenship. I wish our immigration system was different to not allow illegal workers and refugees in Israel in the first place then all this could have been avoided. We have way to much on our hands to be also dealing with this problem. Perhaps we should invest in a massive international advert campain to let those who plan to visit Israel and think they can just park of here and reproduce babies and expect to be just added to the population, think twice about coming here. Please don't misuse and abuse our poor immigration system, we will catch up sometime.
16. Those childern are not refugees, their parents are
AK   (07.30.09)
So do the do-gooders suggest deporting the parents but allowing the parentless children to stay? Or do the do-gooders suggest that Israelis have an obligation to keep criminal aliens only because they procreated in Israel? I wonder, how many Americans or Israelis actually know that if you are even a legal alien in the US, if you commit a felony, you'll be deported.
17. Gabor, the tiny Israel has no obligation to tolerated crime
AK   (07.30.09)
As lovely as it sounds, many of those refugees create problems for the local population and the problems are trivial -- it is crime and the destruction of the quality of life. I am certain that some refugees are grateful for their refuge, work and assimilate, but the locals see many milking limited local resources, committing violent crimes and not adopting to the local laws and custom. And please stop waiving your Holocaust credentials -- they are meaningless as we all have them, regardless of our positions in this matter.
18. Your welcome to take them to Chicago #10, and in your home
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (07.30.09)
this way they will not have to go back to Africa is that humanitarian enough for you, what do you say Jewboy?
19. AK, Tosefta and the other usual suspects
Gabor Frankl ,   Bp, H   (07.30.09)
OK. How do you explain the fact that in every single country just in Europe, even in Eastern Europe some places, but definitely in Western Europe - every one of them there are hundreds of thousands of refugees, immigrants call them what you will, who have been accepted, tolerated without the threat of deportation but with actual citizenship? Belgium, Germany, Holand, France, Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Spain etc. etc. etc. and the people there don't complain? Or those who do are in the "vast" MINORITY parrotting the same BS slogans about services deplation and the like? Why must you prove your greedy, YES GREEDY inner inclinations by mentioning them? Do you all think that a place/country with a well over 100 billion USD aggregate GDP can't handle 1 or 2.000 wretched Miserables? It could well treat fairly 50.000 of them if you ask me! Yes, 50.000! There is ONLY ONE answer to your rejection: don't make me utter the words. You know them very well yourselves - look in the mirror guys. Oh yeah and one more thing: don't call yourselves J.E.W.S. pleeease! Thank you! Please don't censor my reply to the posters!
20. Follow procedure or leave.
Josh   (07.30.09)
21. Biggest hypocrites on the face of the earth
Observer ,   Israel   (07.30.09)
These human rights organizations don't give a damn about children's right. Otherwise we would have heard their voices exactly four years ago. They are about whatever is the latest politically correct position.
22. Send them to the US or Europe.
(07.30.09)
23. We have a moral and ethical duty
Steve   (07.30.09)
The great sage Hillel the Elder once was asked to explain the Torah to a prospective convert while he stood on one foot. Hillel said to the man: "That which is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbour. That is the whole Torah; the rest is commentary. Now go and learn." The Jewish people were refugees for thousands of years; sometimes we were treated well and sometimes we were not. Sometimes we were accepted, but often we were persecuted. Millions of Jews were sent to the gas chambers because no country would offer them refuge from Nazism. We, the Jewish people, who have been persecuted for thousands of years, have a moral and ethical duty to help others who now are in need. From both a religious and a historical point of view, we have an obligation. Israel should help genuine refugees who reach our borders, and if we cannot, for whatever reason, settle them in Israel, our government must find a safe country that they can go to. Anything less would be morally reprehensible. Many of these refugees have escaped genocide in Darfur, and genocide is something that we unfortunately know of too well. People in such dire circumstances deserve our help and Israel should help them. However, there is the matter of people who are not refugees, who enter Israel illegally to work. These people have broken the law, and must be deported immediately. They are not refugees and we have no obligation to help them. We must do whats right, otherwise, what makes us different from the countries that refused to take Jews during the Holocaust?
24. nasty talkbacks
vered ,   israel   (07.30.09)
For all of you who are asking: where were these groups when Jews were forced out of Gush Katif . . . add: and given several million, maybe even billion, dollars to move elsewhere. America opened its doors to refugees from all over the world for most of its' existance. When many Americans hadn't even heard of Israel, America was giving millions of taxpayer dollars to Israel. We in Israel can't keep crying that we have been neglected and therefore the rest of the world can go to hell. How dare all of you be so righteous and indignant against these refugees! Some of you talk about being logical, and you can't even spell - who do you think you are. You are just sitting comfortably expecting someone to take care of you. Shame on all of you!
25. Gabor, get real and look at the map of Israel
AK   (07.30.09)
Israel happens to be a tiny young country, engaged in constant war for her survival and a country that had to accept and absorb millions of penniless Jewish refugees from such diverse places as North Africa, Yemen, Russia and all soviet republics, Poland, Hungary, Syria, Iraq, Iran Ethiopia and more. All that was done without the UN or EU help. All that is still being done right now as we speak. Israeli 'wealth' is very recent. 6o years ago, Jewish refugees were housed in metal barracks and in tents, had no jobs and were generally poor. How dare you compare Israel to Western colonial powers which have centuries of accumulated wealth, large native populations and large territories. Israel's first duty is to provide a safe environment for its citizens. Immigrants in question were initially welcomed to Israel, but now, as more are coming, many not refugees but illegal economic migrants, they are becoming a problem Israelis cannot afford. As for the Western Europe, they are being overwhelmed by their 'immigrants' and are very far from happy . Apparently, where the third world immigrants go crimes and rapes follow. But now that Hungary is a free and democratic country, why don't you be generous and welcome them. Hungary is much larger than Israel and obviously much more generous, so why don't your country offer home to those Israelis will deport? By the what, what is J.E.W.S.?
26. Steve, you know that refugees from Darfur are not the issue
AK   (07.30.09)
But the authorities must establish that the people are in fact refugees and that they don't commit crimes while availing themselves of Israeli hospitality.
27. Deportation children inhumane-unless settlements Jewish kids
Tevye ,   Chelm   (07.30.09)
Yeah, somehow you never hear these so-called self-procaimed right's organizations ( actually they should be called "left's" organizations, since they're neither "right-wing" and neither "right" ) when Jewish children are deported from their homes - and their homes destroyed. They're always there: for the rights of Arabs, rights of illegals, rights of gays... but nowhere to find for rights of regular Jews who want to live in their own land, but are prevented from....
28. #26: Like the many illegal whites NOT being deported?
5th generation ,   Israel   (07.30.09)
29. Comparison of refugee kids and settler kids is inappropriate
Avi-former Sruggie ,   Israel   (07.30.09)
There's a fundamental difference between these two categories: The African refugee kids were born in Israel after their parents fled from their native countries because of wars, famine, draught etc. They are true refugees. The "expelled" settler kids were born in a sad reality because of the stubbornness and fanatism of their parents who choose to move to settle a contested and occupied area (beyond the '67 borders). The former category was born because of humanitarian disasters. The latter category was born because of religious-fascist world view. The kids of both groups are without doubt victims, but the circumstances are too different and should never be compared.
30. Avi former Something is always rooting for Muslims
