3. UNIFIL....
Marcelo ,   Frankfurt / Eurabia   (07.30.09)
The only reason of UNIFIL is to prevent Israel to defend herself. Were not the UNIFIL in Lebanon, Israel would have destroyed Hizbullah completelly...UN is bunch of pro-arabs fascists....
4. UN is powerless
Steve   (07.30.09)
The UN is powerless to do anything. Time and time again, they try to fix a world problem, and fail. The UN: - FAILED to stop genocide in Darfur - FAILED to prevent Hizbullah re-arming - FAILED to deal with the Iranian nuclear program - FAILED to stop human rights abuses all over the world The UN doesn't have the ability to wipe its own ass, let alone to disarm Hizbullah.
5. lacking authority? no
Jacob Erickson ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (07.30.09)
the UN doesn't lack the authority or the presence to do what is necessary in south Lebanon, what they lack is the balls. They can tell Israel what to do because we are an actual country and government. You try to tell hezbollah what to do without a gun in their mouths and they will just take a piss on your leg while saying, "yes yes, we'll do that"

Hezbollah does not need to rearm because it is armed already. When Israel stops getting reinforcements, so will Hezbollah. Comprendez Idiot?
7. #6, you're mistaken
(07.30.09)
I'm not going to sink to your level and hurl insults like a toddler would, but you obviously didn't know that United Nations Security Council resolution 1701 requires the disarmament of Hizbullah. Hizbullah has been smuggling in weapons since the end of the Second Lebanon War, and recently there was an incident at one of their storage sites. Hizbullah is being supplied with arms by Iran and Syria - this is common knowledge. Before you start hurling insults, please consider the facts of the matter, and keep in mind that you're no longer in primary school. Thank you.
8. Shalev must press UNIFIL for........
The Archives ,   Kuala Lumpur   (07.30.09)
either the involvement of Israel Defense Force or Shin Bet to assist in quelling any unrest or large groups of demonstrators should any situation get out of control. It is imperative that Israel oet involved as it concerns the security of Israel's northern borders and that IDF would do everything to avoid a bombing raid beyond the borders. The best option is to press for the authority to allow Lebanon UNIFIL general to request for IDF or Shin Bet assistance when needed.
9. 6- could your tb be the most irrelevant post ever?

A: YES
10. The UN is a joke and a bad one at that!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (07.30.09)
What conflict has the UN ever stopped since it was created? The answer is simple: NONE! Ban Khi Moon has made a fool of himself by associating with the defunct organization. He visited Myanmar to see Aung Sang Suu Kyi and they had the nerve to tell him, the Secretary General of the United Nations, that he cannot visit her! They literally "mooned" Moon! Time for Israel and other countries that have not been bought by rogue regimes and oil money, few as they may be, to get out of the UN!
11. To #6: Sad, he is ashamed of his name
Confused ,   Israel   (07.30.09)
Please explain your statement: "When Israel stops getting reinforcements". What reinforcements are you referring to? After the 2nd Lebanon War and the Gaza Operation, the "big holes" in Beirut and Gaza City should be a reminder to all those who support Hezbollah and Hamas that Lebanon and Gaza survive because Israel does not want to destroy them! Israel could, and will, if necessary, flatten Lebanon and Gaza like I squash cockroaches called Nasrallah and Mashal and does not need any “reinforcements”!

#12: Your site in French is interesting but is nothing more than propaganda. Israel has enough to deal with without taking the time to fabricate lies.

ok, I read the other side of the story. The claim that the explosion was caused by Israeli ammunition is ridiculous to say the least. The Second Lebanon war was fought in 2006, exactly three years ago. The media has forcefed us gory details on every single bullet, artillery and missile that Israel shot into Lebanon over and over again and their effect on the "civilians". My question is how come that for such a long time an entire ordnance depo has been hiding unbeknownst to anyone in an unconspicuous house in a Heabollah stronghold? Who lives there if at all? Why weren't the UNIFIL sappers called in to defuse or detonate the explosive in a controlled manner? Why didn't Hezbollah allow anybody to come near the house and investigate the explosion? Had it been indeed Israeli ammunition we would have seen the pictures. From every possible angle. With the ever present Green Helmet guy and the unavoidable white plastic chair. Perhaps even a toddler's toy, some family pictures and an incredibly lucky Qur'an. And the old woman who just found out that yet another house she owned was blown up by the Israelis. One more thing - this newspaper as-Safir, is not entirely reliable. It is where Adnan Hajj used to work, or perhaps still does . For those who cannot remember, Adnan Hajj was fired from Reuters for photoshopping images of Beirut being bombed by the IAF.
16. wasn't UN 1701

Zippy Livni's greatest success?
17. To: No. 6
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (07.30.09)
Agents of Israel's Mossad blew up Hizbollah's ammunition dump. This was no spontaneous combustion -- Hizbollah's flagrant violation of a resolution TO WHICH IT AGREED had to be made public. If there are more such dumps, Israel will get those, too. Hizbollah and Hamas have been rendered toothless and clawless. Time for them to crawl back under their rocks, before it is too late.

And it should not try to expand UNIFIL into Israel for that matter, either.
