1. Let the arabs stay within their communities
jason white ,   afula,israel   (08.07.09)
and the Jews within their communities. No need to integrate.Besides that it seems like someone is going for a pay day as their original aim.
2. Stupid question
Raphael ,   Netanya   (08.07.09)
Are jewish children welcome at the Pekiin daycare center?
3. Arab villages
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (08.07.09)
Don't they have daycare centers? If not, why not? Moreover, othing in the article disclosed why Mrs. Kadshai did not want the Arab child in the Jewish daycare center. Did she lose a loved one in a war? Or an Arab terrorist attack? Perhaps her family was unceremoniously booted out of an Arab country which had been their home for generations. It would have been helpful to know.
4. Israel's pained expression when word "apartheid" is used
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (08.07.09)
Separate roads, separate schools, separate swimming, separate buses; if it walks like a duck and sounds like a duck and looks like a duck ...
5. Apartheid state
Tom ,   Toronto   (08.07.09)
That's why the rest of the world - apart from some Jewish Israelis - condemns Israel as an Apartheid state. Oh, stop whining. You're proud of it. So don't whine about other people not liking you. You don't like them. So it's a fair deal.
6. #4,#5 Blah blah blah
Ze'ev ,   Haifa   (08.07.09)
Like if there is no racism in Canada or the UK. Racism is wrong everywhere but please don't pretend to be saints. BTW the separation fence is alright, because Palestinians are not Israeli citizens, but rather our enemies.
7. Hard to say what's the truth
Matityahu ,   Slovenia   (08.07.09)
Maybe this particular case really is unfair, I can't say for sure based just on the article on ynet. But the general fact is that the arabs are disliked mainly for their own actions and not solely for being non-jewish. If they were peacefull buddhists, everybody would like them, but they're not.
8. 5
Rachel   (08.07.09)
Don't the Arabs pretty much do the same thing if not even worse when they demand a totally Jew free state? Of course, what happened here was wrong, and I am sorry for the Arab couple and most of all the little child who is innocent in all this.
9. Now Arab mother knows how the refugees from Gush Katif feel!
Eli ,   haifa   (08.07.09)
Stop the hypocrisy!
10. Amazing what you have to read.
Yaron ,   Stuttgart   (08.07.09)
Amazing how most people justifies this!!: -They do the same -They are worse -They are enemies -Other countries racist too It is all ok, but don't claim to be a enlightened democracy with equal rights to all its citizens. Amazing how Israel can be so avanced in so many fields, and so backwards and primitive in others

Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (08.07.09)
Easy for you to say. You have a long border with the United States and no one else. Israel's situation is quite different. That said ..... I hear tell that quite a few French Canadians consider Canada to be a racist state. The facts and Canada's history actually bear this out. I'm just sayin'.
12. If racists are allowed to rule the roost, Israel is doomed
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (08.07.09)
Jews were the were once the victims of similar treatment when they lived in Christian and Muslim countries, yet now Jews living in a Jewish state are doing exactly the same thing to others? This story and some of the comments in support of racism paint a very bad picture of Israeli society and are indicative of just how far Israeli society has fallen in recent years, so I hope the court rules against the racist mother and quadruples the award, but I don't hold out much hope.

Is that why you live in wonderfully, democratic, historically unblemished Germany? Shut up.
14. # 4&5 apartheid criticism
Truth Hertz ,   UK   (08.07.09)
Utter hypocrisy. Not a word of criticism from you on arab states whose constitution say that Jews (and other 'infidels') cannot be citizens, own property or, in some cases, even set foot in the country. No word from you on the PA 'law' carrying the death penalty for arab people in Judea & Samaria who sell property to Jews. So you criticise Jews but not arabs. Sounds like apartheid to me. As far as this case is concerned, I feel sorry for the arab family and sad that the other mothers choose to act more like our enemies than free Jews but maybe, in the same way that we say that it took one day to get out of mitzraim but a generation to get mitzraim out of the Jewish people, so maybe it will take a little longer to get the galut experience out of us.

Hey, how are the Sami people in Norway doing? They were so discriminated against, they actually lobbied and agitated for their own parliament! And, finally, in 1989, got it. Only took several hundred years of persecution ..... People who live in glass houses should not throw stones, Johan.
17. to those of you who dont get the point
jj   (08.07.09)
at least just admit that you live in and support a racist state if all you are doing is saying that "the arabs do it too". that is the only response i have seen to this. dont cry like babies when you are called racist. just admit it and embrace the fact that yours is a racist state that fits in perfectly with those around you.
18. #14 The arab states
Michael ,   Danmark   (08.07.09)
don't claim to be democratic and compare themselves to a western country. Israel does and as long as it does people have the right to criticize it. I think you guys rather be like a arab country since you always keep pointing out " but they do it why can't we do it. A kindergarten mentality, but ok you want it like that.
19. You are just confirming my point.
To 13 and 14: ,   Yaron   (08.07.09)
You are just confirming my point. Blame the Germans of today, blame the Spain for the inquisition, blame the Arab countries. If that is what to be compared with Germany of during the nazi era, countries like Saudia Arabia, ... Just don't claim to be peace loving and democatric.
20. ah yes... a light unto all nations.

22. Excellent idea!
Brad ,   USA   (08.07.09)
We should ban Jews from USA kindergartens because they are Jews! And if there is any law suit - just point to this article.
23. I'm happy to see this article and your concern, you hypocrit
m   (08.07.09)
But as an Israeli outlet where is the story about the building in Yafo (Jaffa)? Jews bought the land in ISRAELI JAFFA and the Arabs (the enlightened ones) stopped its building even after selling all appartments, because the buyers are JEWS

Just like George Wallace in Alabama when he was sworn in as governor in 1963, no? "In the name of the greatest people that have ever trod this earth, I draw the line in the dust and toss the gauntlet before the feet of tyranny, and I say segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever" I'm from a country where 80 years ago there were exclusions in public and private domains (including schools and universities): NO DOGS, NO BLACKS, NO JEWS. Thankfully we are an enlightened people here and have progressed...can't say the same for you. When will we Jewish people ever learn?
25. #18 Danish cartoons
Matityahu ,   Slovenia   (08.07.09)
Denmark was rioted over a few silly cartoons, therefore I strongly suggest you start dealing with the kindergarden mentality in your country first, before pointing fingers elsewhere.
26. Yaron, #19
Jason, Ph.D. ,   Charlotte, USA   (08.07.09)
Ok, let me begin by saying that we do not know all of the facts about this situation, right Yaron? (unless somehow you do). If the essence of the article is true, all it proves is that some of the parents in that day care are prejudiced, and they are wrong and immoral. In that case, the parents of the Arab girl should fight for their rights, and I support them! Now, Yaron, why would you condemn the whole nation of Israel based on the hatred of a few parents? Would you condemn the entire nation of the U.S. because there are some bigots here? There are many, many Israelis who hate bigotry. Threfore, I find your remarks to be highly unbalanced, and actually immoral.
27. No matter how you put it, this is disgusting.
leo ,   usa   (08.07.09)
Israelis, stop justifying unjustifiable. You are only making it worst. You are becoming like your lovely neighbors. Teach this innocent (I underscore 'innocent') Arab child Jewish values instead. It will pay off big in the long run.
28. WOW
ben ,   jerusalem-palestine   (08.07.09)
i wish the world can see what the chosen people are advocating. yes Israel is apartheid state. it always been, do you know that my Israeli ID card have my nationality in it as Arab. imagine in the USA to have an ID card that says whether your Italian or Irish or Mexican.
29. To: No. 19
Sarah B ,   New York CIty, USA   (08.07.09)
No one is blaming anyone. The point is that there are many people in many countries who select schools for their children with particularity because they do not want their children to come in contact with certain people, whether for religious, racial or other reasons. This is commonplace. Israel is a democracy -- Israeli Arabs, Druze and Bedouin enjoy the right to vote, have equal access to social services. The Jews who came from Arab and Moslem lands enjoyed no such privileges and were thrown out of no fewer than sixteen countries with little more than the clothes on their backs. For you to accuse Israel of being a racist state is sanctimonious and you know it. Perhaps you should travel to Israel and see for yourself, rather than make lofty (and inaccurate) judgments while safely ensconced in Stuttgart. Speaking of -- the far right (neo-Nazis) in Germany are making remarkable headway on the political front. Doesn't that trend trouble you, given Germany's history? It should.
30. Tempest in a teapot
Sarah B ,   New York CIty, USA   (08.07.09)
I question the motives of the Arab girl's parents. It strikes me odd that they would want to enroll their child in a Jewish daycare facility, where the lingua franca is Hebrew and Jewish holidays are celebrated. The girl herself would be an outcast in her own village! It is not beyond the realm of possibility that they deliberately engineered this whole affair.
