31. You are as silly as ever I can see.
Daniel ,   San Jose, CA   (08.07.09)
Maybe you should all go back to school and learn geography and military tactics yet again! Israel did NOT beg for permision, but what they did ask for was unrestricted access to Iraqi airspace. This would have allowed them to manuver and get in and out of Iranian airspace much faster. I hate the thought of putting our pilots in harms way but think a little bit. Iran does not have long range radar to scan Israeli skies, and Israeli aircraft have some nice jamming equipment as well. Anti Aircraft capabilities on the Iranian side are also less than desired against the current IAF lineup. Read Janes Defense weekely and it will make much more sense. Get a grip people, we could crush Iran with out much issue, however there would be an uproar amungst the Muslim world even though many don't like Iran's leadership. Israel also needs to know it's alys will provide support and aid if the current situation in the middleeast colapses. It is as much of a political game as it is blowing up their nucular capabilities. It is laughable to see that most of you simply call it following gods will or being a slave to the US. Neither are true and Israel will act in it's own best interest. He doesn't have nukes now and his ability to produce wepons grade plutonium is still a little ways off. Eventually it will come down to a do or die choice but acting hastely now could cause more problems in the future.
32. Eyal, Jerusalem I love you!
Sofia ,   Grunnen, Netherlands   (08.07.09)
Yes you're right: Israel would stand alone as prophesized, nevertheless there are still to be a lot of real Christian friends in all countries who pray for you to Hashem, to protect you. You, the Israeli people, home and abroad. May be this all is about Jews to learn to trust only Hashem and not any human or nature or logic. Hashem can and will fight for you against all odds. He has proved this so many times before. Israel was born in one day, you got Jerusalem back in 1967, the six-day-war: all miracles given to you by Hashem. You just trust Him once more, please my dear Israeli brothers and sisters. Have faith, hope, love and belief. Jacob's trouble will not last forever! You will rejoice once again!
33. #32 - Such a beautiful post...thank you.
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (08.07.09)
34. thank goodness
americanjew ,   Washington, DC   (08.08.09)
Thanks goodness that this insane idea was not followed through on. And thank goodness we have a sane president here finally -- you could use a little more sanity over there!
35. If Israel is still 'asking for permission' then it
leo ,   usa   (08.08.09)
means Israeli brass does not believe everything is doom and gloom yet. Rest assured, if there will be no alternative left Israel will not ask for permission. But that aside I do not think there is a need to hit Iran at all. Ahmadinejad and mullahs will spend what ever left of their political capital and money(!) trying to fix things with Iranian populous and only to discover in their next election that they are goners. They will not be able to dedicate much resources to they nuclear program because of that. Hell, I am not sure if even Hezbollah of Lebanon and Hamas will get their usual fix. It is not all that bad for Israel. Just keep pressure on and wait for it to collapse.
36. Totally agree with you Sarah. Tell it to
(08.08.09)
cinical Mahmood, too. Maybe he will finally acknowledge something he understands so well.
37. #28, The last time anyone shot down an IAF plane
Danny   (08.08.09)
was in the 80s.
38. Sarah B
Morty ,   New York   (08.08.09)
It's a good thing your not a historian, or even a elementary analyst. All the things you mention were minor compared to striking another country's nuclear facilities. Come on now, apples to apples.
39. To: Morty at No. 38
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (08.08.09)
Mongo wrongo! First of all, I am a historian (B.A., M.A., Yale). I am also a lawyer (J.D., Harvard). Secondly ..... Osirac WAS a nuclear facility, as was the pathetic Syrian attempt that Israel flew 600 miles out of its airspace to destroy. You were saying? (apples to apples, of course ....)
40. P.S. Morty
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (08.08.09)
It's "you're," not "your." At least SOME of us are educated. Come on now --- get an education!
41. YOU GOT IT WRONG,BROD...........#3
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (08.08.09)
The reasons for permission is not out of respect or strategy, but out of sheer truth that when Dimona is targetted and Tel Aviv is set ablaze,"Please come to our rescue, don't abondon us saying you did NOT know".Sounds logical,Brod, doesn't it?
42. To #3
Tyra ,   Lebanon, US   (08.08.09)
His tactics are so eerily similar to Hitler's it makes me sick to my stomach. To watch the people crying at his feet like he's God. It sends a chill down my spine. I do believe he is the "ONE" the "ONE" mentioned in the Book of Daniel as the little horn.
43. ezekiel 38
sl ,   usa   (08.08.09)
If this truly is the time then our concern is those from the north. Since it is written that all nations will turn, then its obvious Obama and tHe US will be apart of it. It saddens me how many in NY city helped in the presidential election to get us at this point. As it has been said. "never again". We msut trust God and only God.
44. To No. 41
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (08.08.09)
Mahmood, you are seriously funny! Dimona targeted? Right. With what? Thirty year old creaking ordnance? Ancient, out of date military aircraft? You are TOO FUNNY!!!! Seriousaly now ---- if Israel attacks Iran, say good-bye Islamic Republic; hellow peacock throne ..... once the radiation goes bye-bye, of course .....
45. Bombing Iran is a Mistake
Sophie ,   USA   (08.08.09)
Let me start by saying that I am not Jewish but I have several good Jewish friends from Israel so this is not against Israel or the Jews. But I also have very good Iranian Muslim friends. Now let me say that I think bombing Iran is a huge mistake. First of all, as many reports suggest the Iranian government is not near the point of using the nuclear bomb against anyone in the region. Iran is facing the biggest internal challenge in 30 years and it's not in a situation to challenge a foreign country right now. Secondly, bombing Iran will make the entire Iranian population turn against Israel. They will forget their own internal issues and Israel will become the enemy. You can count on it! People will stick together. And very few countries around the world will back Israel's attack on Iran especially during this unrest period in Iran. Thirdly, I don't believe that Israel wants to attack Iran because of the nuclear facilities. I think that's an excuse. For one thing Iran is a resource rich country and it's strategically located and it has a highly educated population which believe or not, are more open-minded than most of its neighbors. It's a threat to Israel's position in the region. I could go on, but overall, attacking Iran is a mistake and will give Ahmadinejad and his men (the very people which Israel supposedly wants to destroy) more of an excuse to stay in power. Obama understands this. Attacking the nuclear facilities will kill innocent people - the very protesters who are fighting for justice and freedom. I'm sorry to see how many here are for violence and killing innocent people....especially that most of you don't even seem to be living in the Middle East.
46. Obama does not support Israel
Grant Thomas ,   Brookfield, Wi, USA   (08.08.09)
Obama is NOT a Christian, and if he's not a closet Muslim, he obviously has more sympathy for them than he does for the Jews. He must be ignored by Israel, and the Jews need to be courting members of Congress. No one should put their trust in Obama because he has shown himself to be a liar, and he says one thing but does another. He is a snake in the grass!
47. #28 That was 28 years ago, Mahmood
Cynthia ,   USA   (08.08.09)
It will be over before the Iranian Regime knows it happened. What happened in Sudan? Was it a bird, a plane or fata morgana? No one really knows.
48. IFSUCH WAS THE CONFIDENCE....#44
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (08.08.09)
Things would have been different today. But much to your dipleasure and wrong analysis,it is not what you want others to read. You seem to be ignoring altogether the worries in the military circle of wanting to shield off missil attacks which are land -based and lately also in the sea.Why all these need for obsolete arms? You very well know that, don't you?Few modern arms with Hizbullah's have caused such drastic logistic movements in the IDF contigents at the border.......what to talk of Iran,Sarah? What I enjoy reading about your talk-back is more to do with your wishes than with the reality. You as well as Cynthia dream a lot. That is your problem. Not that I mind at all,but don't get carried away to this extent. You remember the latest article on IAF wanting to raid Iranian Nuclear sites during upsurge of violence in Iran after the elections? What happened? These are all that few will continue to think, plan and desire.Sarah, for God sake dont get carried away. You are far too weak in the area.Don't bring about more humiliation like the one in 2006.
49. THAN WHAT HAS MADE YOU WAIT....#47
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (08.08.09)
You should be protesting at the reluctance, shouldn't you?Happenings in the other parts of the world should not encourage you at all.You are looking at a totally different scenerio. These plannings are going on since 2004 and will continue to do so.Nothing practical.Just like the crossing of two submarines into the warm waters of Indian Ocean. They are still there, are they,Cynthia?
50. #49 Timing is everything, Mahmood
Cynthia ,   USA   (08.08.09)
But I don't think you'll find your answers in the Kuwaiti news or the Israeli news for that matter. To date, Israeli responses have been quite precise. You would think Iran would have learned from the mistakes of others.
51. OH,YES.ABOUT THE TIMINGS........#50
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (08.08.09)
Of crossing Latani River reminds me a lot of being precise.Don't you worry,Cynthia,Iran is more than prepared.Don't you humiliate yourself by believing it to be an easy ride for the Israeli pilots of Naval ships.Precise arrangements have been made.Don't pray for someone to become adventorous at all.
52. Long live Israel
JW ,   USA   (08.09.09)
I can't wait till they take care of Iran.
53. To Cynthia: You know that old saying
Tyra ,   Lebanon, US   (08.09.09)
Never argue with a fool, they'll bring you down to their level, than beat you up with experience. LOL!!!!!!!! Israel has God of Abraham on their side. That's all they need.
54. To: No. 48
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (08.09.09)
Talkin' to me, Mahmood? Try it again, in English please. Or Hebrew. Currently, you are incomprehensible.
55. To: Sophie
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (08.09.09)
Hunny bunny, I appreciate your sentiments, but have you read or listened to the rhetoric out of Tehran? It is all about eradicating the "Zionist entity" (i.e., Israel) and extermination of the Jewish people. You are dealing with insane monsters here. People who do not mind flying hijacked airplanes into buildings full of ordinary people going to work. People (I use the term loosely) who think it is perfectly alright to blow up ordinary human beings riding on a bus. Or having lunch in a pizzeria. Or celebrating the Passover seder in a restaurant. We are not talking about normal human beings, Sophie. We are talking about monsters who need to be stopped. Whatever it takes ....
56. #45.. SOPHIE .... LET ME START BY SAYING THAT....
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (08.09.09)
THE IRANIANS ARE EDUCATED, JUST AS YOU STATE RE: THE IRANIANS AND THIER RESOURCES. " It's a threat to Israel's position in the region" EDUCATED IRANIANS ARE NOT A THREAT TO ISRAEL AS YOU STATE SOPHIE. EDUCATED PEOPLE IS EXACTLY WHAT ISRAEL WANTS IN THE REGION, AND NOT A BUNCH OF CRAZY FANATICAL PEOPLE. EDUCATED IRANIAN PEOPLE WILL WORK HAND IN HAND WITH ISRAEL TOWARDS A COMMON GOOD. SOPHIE..... SPEAKING ABOUT EDUCATED PEOPLE, CAN YOU TELL ME HOW MANY IRANIAN NOBEL PRIZE WINNERS ARE THERE ?
57. Empower Iranians to Remove Dictatorship
Paul ,   Melbourne   (08.09.09)
The strategy should be to empower Iranians to change their regime so as to avoid bloodshed on both sides as well as environmental nuclear contamination from bombed nuclear sites. It is possible to have an Israel friendly Iranian regime and this will solve the nuclear issue as well as cutting off support for Hezbollah.
58. To the heroic No. 29 (Eyal) ;-)
Sam Bolivar ,   New York, USA   (08.09.09)
You wrote, "It has been prophesized... we will stand against the rest of the world... so be it. we have Hashem. [...] theres nothing to worry about. Lets get it over with already !!!!!!! " ---> You go right ahead, Eyal - rent a plane, bring a parachute and all your male children, and head for Iran ... I'm sure you'll be welcomed with flowers & open arms! LOL! But before you do anything really stupid - You probably wouldn't last 15 minutes there. You're a fool, who's probably never been on a battlefield. So shut the f*** up, you ignoramus. Sam Bolivar StrivingForJustice@yahoo.com
59. #58..Sam Bolivar.. A VERY WEAK CASE !
ABRAHAM ben JACOB ,   CANADA   (08.13.09)

HAS AN EMAIL SAYING ..... " StrivingForJustice " !........ IF THAT'S THE CASE, STOP YOUR NAME CALLING AND YOUR CRUDE SWEARING AT OTHER YNET POSTERS AND GIVE OTHERS THE JUSTICE YOU DEMAND FOR YOURSELF.
