31. #18 "kissing the Torah scrolls?"
I doubt anyone who loves G-d and his Torah has a question in their mind how to respect G-d and the context of the words he gave.
Maybe the object kissing appears to be a good way to show G-d you love him and maybe it does the opposite.
It really depends on the kavana being directed to God or to vanity, man-made customs, and object worship.
If the mindset of a golden calf is on anyones mind as they kiss the shiny metal case, it represents a provocation.
We here stories of how touching the ark incorrectly caused instant death. - Food for thought on this issue.
G-d states nothing does him justice in representing him. That would include scrolls. A Father is not summarized by the rules he gives his child.
