Not that i endorse the caricature, i can see the logic behind their move. If there's no action against Wilders' film on the grounds of free speech, then, on the same basis, there should not be an action against the caricature. That's the stance they take. In a way they are testing if the Dutch prosecutor and legal institutions stand on the same line on every 'free speech' case. I must say i do not approve their way.
32. These cartoons are not helpfull
ali ,   Jerusalem   (08.22.09)
However, Jews should ask themselves on the 1st place, why they allowed someone full of hatred against Muslims and Islam into Israel and gave him full fanfare. It's a will known fact that most often, when Islam attacked by anyone, Jews tend to side against Muslims from Salman Rushdie to Geert Wilders.
33. Immigration Watch is a good thing.

35. Is angering Muslims enough to oppress others?
Dudi ,   Egypt   (08.22.09)
Quoting; "angered many Muslims"! Is that enough to topple freedom of speech & expression? I'm outraged at people who routinely oppress others in their own regimes & societies, as well as, discriminating diverse people, while oppressing others & ask for freedom of expression & opinion. It's very clear that they are the ones adopting a "double standard". What's dangerous, is using the Western freedom for toppling the Western civilization.

It is exciting to see that Geert Wilders was not indicted. Regardless of how arabs who do not agree, try to offend. They may deny, ridicule, the holocaust, but no matter how hard they cannot cover the sun with one finger. There will be people who believe, people who will not, regardless. This is were secular education comes in to keep history in check in public schools all around the world.
37. to #31, answer this.
normal ,   Beersheva, Israel   (08.22.09)
if someone insults you in the street, will you return him the favor, or turn to another one walking with you and insult him? something tells me that you will do the former. I don't endorse the cartoon too, but that fact that they use this case to insult Jews isn't displaying them in a good light. you are missing the point in this issue, the logic behind that response is understood, but the way it was done it is flawed. the only thing they gain is the feeling of "I showed you" but they lost their case. going after the Jews when they are clearly unrelated to the issue is pure hatred. not thing less.
38. So it's ok...?
Concerned realist   (08.22.09)
for the Jews to riot and murder arabs? Is that the solution? Is that what our arab "brothers and sisters" have taught us? we're not as despicable as the arabs. oh well. moslems become less relevant as time goes on.
39. Caricature
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (08.22.09)
Why don't Muslims refute mr wilder ,and prove to the world what a great humanitarian and lover of peace their prophet Mohamed was, instead they slander the Jews, who have nothing to do with the anti Mohamed caricature. All religions have skeletons in their closets, except that the muslim skeletons are alive and kicking, and will not rest till the entire world is ruled by sharia. The problem with islam is,that it did not produce a Martin Luter (The german Martin Luter),or a Baruch Spinoza, who challenged their own Religion.
40. #31 - Normal is right, AEL made racist decision
William ,   Israel   (08.23.09)
They could have easily tested the Dutch prosecutor by depicting a caricature of Jesus or Mary and poke fun of the belief of being risen in just 3 days. They chose not to and to go after Jews instead. Perhaps they decided to depict the Holocaust because it's so sensitive in Europe, but what they ended up doing is showing themselves as racists AND Holocaust deniers by claiming that 6 million killed is a fabrication...a widely-held belief among Muslims, despite mountains of evidence written my Nazis themselves. They acted like children in this affair and this is their "pouting" response. I'd respond with Muhammed cartoons knowing it would piss them off more than their cartoon pisses me off.
41. #35 - Using Western freedoms to topple Western civilization
William ,   Israel   (08.23.09)
What's worse than that is many Westerners - academics and blind liberals - joining that destruction in the name of the very freedoms they will soon lose themselves.
42. WOW
Ahmad ,   Dubai   (08.23.09)
A bunch of cultured intelligent people here .... playing with each other's balls .... come on people ..... this is getting pathetic ... pleeeeeeeaaaase stop
43. Is Al-Aksa Mosque in Saudi Arabia?
Jonathan   (08.24.09)
If that is the case why are Arabs claiming it is in Jerusalem?
44. the left is now indistinguishable from the far right
Mikki Mars ,   Londonistan, Eurabia   (08.25.09)
the left, which used to stand for freedoms and social justice, has now moved so far to the left its become the new far right, except instead of outright criticizing those themes, is using those themes to ATTACK or condone attacking those themes, as we know when the Muslims constitute enough of a portion of the electorate, freedoms and democracy will go the way of the dodo: they'll be gone. I'd love to see how left wing academics will react. Also no coincidence the left finds itself in the company of the German NPD and David Duke when bashing Israel and the Jews.
45. only Wilders will bring Europe back from the depths
Krissy McDonald ,   New York, USA   (08.25.09)
right now, we are seeing a Weimar Eurabia. Wilders will be the man who stops the Fourth Reich from appearing, as it would appear this time, as the completion of the European Caliphate the Muslims have sought from the time of Muhammed to the Ottomans. Wilders is a REAL liberal, he supports civil liberties, but sees the real danger Islam poses. I pray to God he gets elected, and maybe the real liberals in Europe will stand up, instead of the leftists. Leftism=/=liberalism.
46. double standards
Roberto ,   leeds England   (09.03.09)
firstly these cartoons are racist and disgusting something islam discourages as pointed out by the EAL they did not agree with the cartoons but published them to highlight the double standard in Europe The danish cartoons and dutch movie are racist and insulting to islam yet no prosecutions in fact they are republished in holland however cartoons of a rascit nature published by the arab league leads to prosecution Highly unfair anybody who calls for any republishing is down right racist and does not belong in our tolerate western democratic society There was once a time in europe were open racism towards a certain religious group was tolerated (nazism) lets hope we learnt our lesson and dont return to our fascist ways
47. Good question, Alan
José ,   Oslo, Norway   (11.06.09)
It smacks of lack of respect for the concept of freedom of speech; and very egocentric.
