First, Shalit was captured on a Palestinian lands as an enemy combatant inside a tank!! secondley, Shalit will NOT SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY UNTIL OUR KIDNAPPED PEOPLE ARE BACK HOME, not in Syria or Jordan...our patience is well known all over the world. meantime, I suppose that Hamas must get him another Zionist soldier to keep company, poor soul, he is all alone

9. Not a good deal in the first place anyway
JO   (09.02.09)
The demands are far too high, unfair and unjust. Such a deal will only bring more such kidnappings in the future, not to mention the many deaths because of those released who will return (forget signing a piece of paper) terrorism. Not worth the paper it is written on. Hamas can not be trusted. And Israel is foolish to even consider this.
10. Release of Gilad Shalid
Ken Bain ,   Geelong Australia   (09.02.09)
As an Australian you might think "What would I Know?". Well, you might be right but from where I see things I believe that Israel must never give in to terrorists and if this means that Gilad stays captive for a long time or even never be returned to his family then that is the price that must be paid. When I think of the history of your amazing country I only have admiration for your strength in the face of arab agression and false propaganda. As regards Shalit I would say to Hamas that until he is returned that Israel will severly limit the trucks of aid to Gaza. If the check points were either increased or the existing ones limit the number of people who can go through I'm sure that would create a huge problem for Hamas and the people of Gaza. Hopefully the people of Gaza will react against Hamas. Irael could say "Release Gilad and we'll open up the checkpoints and allow normal passage of aid. Of course all the left wingers and many Euro countries will react against Israel but don't you understand - the Arabs only understand force and power. If you are weak they will ask for more and more. Israel, you have had to cope with so much for so long, stay strong and do not give in to the arabs nor those "do-gooders" in the West who know nothing.
11. Cut off evething to Gaza until the people force Hamas out!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (09.02.09)
Hunger, darkness, no water is the only way tp release Gilad Shalit. Evry time a "deal" is brokered Hamas blocks it as part of the psychological war against Israel. If the US, the EU and the UN don't like it then it’s too damn bad. Gilad is NOT their kid and it is time the Palestinians realized that they must let him go or face hardship because of Hamas' intransigence. Let's see if Netanyahu has the balls to do what is right!
12. red cross visit first then we can talk
zionist forever   (09.02.09)
Right we don't even know if he is alive or dead. How do we know we won't be getting a corpse like we did with Regev & Goldwaser after we released Samir Kuntar? Alive or dead all Israelis want Shalit back but Hamas need to be made to understand that no man is so valuable that we can say no price is to high. As long as the Shalit family and his supporters are out there campaigning against the government and demanding they pay Hamas price then its going to encourage more kidnappings and irisponsable policy making. These people are unintentionally acting as Hamas envoys and making Shalit much harder to free. If official policy of government and accepted by the public was responsible decisssion making then Hamas would compromise but as long as they think they have allies in Israel and that eventually they can wear the government down then they won't budge and Shalit alive or dead will not be coming back to Israel anytime soon. The crime for this government would be to say there is no such thing as a price to high for Shalit.
