1. "Comprehensive talks"
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.11.09)
Stalling tactic. Iran is running scared (as well they should be) and is desperate for time to continue work on their enrichment program with the ultimate goal of producing a deliverable nuclear device. I know that Israel will not fall for Iran's rather pathetic ploy. I can only hope that other nations will recognize Iran's promise for "comprehensive talks" for what it is -- smoke and mirrors.
2. obama's image
marcel   (09.11.09)
Obama is turning into a carter clone. Carter was a failed president who suffered a failure of nerve, along wiht brzezinksi in the iran rescue mission which absolutely humiliated the US.lets talk, lets make nice, while putin is taking the US for fools selling weapons to venzuela and iran. America is not an islamic country, now or ever and obama should not pointing the US in that direction talking about moslems in the US. WITH CLINTON, GATES, AND MITCHELL, the US has so far conveyed weakness like carter did.
3. First and foremost with ..."US "?

4. SARAH,MUCH OF YOUR TALK-BACK.....#1
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (09.11.09)
Is in form of regret.Well, what else do you expect? Don't tell me that the Iranians will just agree to sit round the table and be at the receiving end.Another point that you keep on making about Iran being scared and stuff, does not really make any sense to all readers.Scared of what,Sarah? Talking about the ploy and Israel not falling for it is all biblical,Sarah. We bloody well know what Israel wants, but I am sorry, it will not suceed in getting it.And when I say so,remind me what I had written. Otherwise, time for you to carry on with life and stop your pretence of making it look that the Iranians are in any hurry out of fright. That exists in your mind, not reality.

Regret? Who, me? Why on earth would I mourn the destruction of the Islamic Republic of Iran and 30 years of pronouncements out of Tehran promising the eradication of the "Zionist entity" (i.e., Israel) and the extermination of the Jewish people? Iran has plenty about which to be scared. Their economy is in critical condition, there is much internal dissension (witness the recent elections), the sanctions have taken their toll and Israel is going to bring their nuclear ambitions to a crashing halt. Iran had its proxy, Hizbollah, fire missiles into northern Israel this morning in a pathetic attempt to divert Israel's attention from Iran. It won't work. It just means that Israel now has to mop up two messes. It won't take long, though; keep in mind that it took ten years for Iran to defeat Iraq. And Israel's armed forces are superior to what Iraq's were at the time of the Iran-Iraq War. You are free to believe whatever you want, Mahmood, including your own puffery. Israel can -- and probably will -- clean Iran's clock. Then perhaps the Iranian people will finally be free. Isn't that a good thing, Mahmood? Don't you want to see a free and democratic Iran, or do you think the mullahs represent the better way? \
6. I totally agree with Sarah and I totally
Argus   (09.11.09)
disagree with Mahmood whose cynical and empty huff-puff and blah-blah has alredy turned Mahmoodesque language. I keep wondering in whose service this weird sounding chap is. Iran's, most definitely, or maybe Syria's? Either way it won't help Iran's megalomanian ambitions. The free world and/or Israel will not put up too long with this dangerous nuclear aggravation peddled by an even more lethal and poisonous middle-age mullah regime.
7. All talk and no action is a strategy of clever fools.
Mike ,   Mbsa, Kenya   (09.11.09)
Provided that all religious followers believe that theirs is the true religion then there is bound to be a clash.Remember Prophet ELIJAH,he who exposed the false gods is on Israel's side.Muslims like Mahmood follow a wicked religion which murders fellow muslims by the dozens, has a-jad,osama,omar and other animals for leaders! Israel has a holy task indeed.
8. TOTALLY USELESS TALK-BACK........#6
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (09.11.09)
By you as well. The moment you are given the truth and the real situation, you tend to urupt like a volcano.Haven't seen your talk-back for quite sometimes but since you have craweled out of your hole might as well know that I am neither a Syrian nor an Iranian. Your harping about 'free world' and Israel has now become biblical and might as well you step into the world of reality and be quick about it as well.Else you will have plenty to regret.Leave Sarah alone.
9. ENJOY THE SUNSHINE IN MOMBASA........#7
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (09.11.09)
And leave the complexity of this world to the experts. What do you know about your own religion to start with?
10. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   New York City, USA   (09.11.09)
"Leave Sarah alone." Why, thank you Mahmood. Although as you probably realize by now, I am more than capable of taking care of myself. I note for the record that you and Nour constitute a mutual admiration society -- roughly half of each of your posts compliment the other on their fine reasoning and articulate expression. So why does it gall you that Argus agrees with me?
11. Wow ! Mahmood is threatening on the blog!
argus   (09.11.09)
Hear, hear Mahmood. Have I ever threatened anyone or is defending my fellow citizens from the likes of Israel bashers like you forbidden ? Come now, you have proven plain and clear on whose side you are and I happen not to agree with you. Or, are you also the proprietor of people's opinions? Wake up from your gally anger and stop spewing hate words and raw threats. And,yes, stop patronizing me about Sarah. I am sure she can perfectly speak for herself. Besides, you agree with Ahmadinejad and I agree with Sarah.
12. Hello again Mahmood !
argus   (09.11.09)
I forgot to ask you a question. How can you put up with a regime like the one in Iran where they systematically crane-hang people ? These poor people are mostly political disidents, Bahaiis, lesbians, homosexuals or young and inexperienced freedom-seeking students. Do these people really deserve to be murdered ? Is this sick regime really your prototype of democracy ? Questions, questions, questions !
13. But what about global warming.
Daniel ,   San Jose CA, USA   (09.11.09)
Ok this is just silly. They present something to the world which says nothing and achieves nothing. The heart of the matter is that others feel their nuculer program is not so peaceful. So now it is Iran's turn to prove otherwise. Instead they skip right over the problem and want to talk about world peace. Give me a brake, the properly place to change how the UN and the AIEA do business is not in one on one talks. It is during general assembly. They are stalling. Buying time. pushing off the issue and trying to redirect the focus. It won't work, and can't work. I am sure intelegance groups have more on this than they are willing to tell. If they did they would jeprodize their sources, which they need. I think it will come down to the final weeks or days until we can wait any longer and then they will need to strike. The UN offered Iran a package which included the latest nuculer tecnologies. The fuel rods from the newest reactors can't be turned into wepons grade material. Iran turned it down. WHY????? The material is easier to handle, store, and dispose of. The output is better than the conventional system Iran is working with. So why turn it down. You want electricity right? This whole game is smoke and mirrors. They know the UN takes it's time. It will be up to the US and other countries to agree to real sanctions. Ones that hurt, and will force Iran to rethink it's strategy. They are not following the previous requests of the UN and havve thumbed there nose at them every step of the way.
14. The real threat to this world are intolerant..
Mike ,   Mbsa, Kenya   (09.12.09)
people like Mahmood, who think that they have the monopoly of truth. If you have real eyes and ears then what are experts for? everyday sunnis kill shiites and shiites kill sunnis in the name of radical Islam.Actually muslims don't need enemies, they are doing an exellent job annihilating themselves. When want you talk to the likes of ahmadinejad learn the language of dragons.
15. MAHMOOD = Baghdad Bob
vit ,   usa   (09.12.09)
Honestly, this moron (Mahmood) is beginning to remind me of Baghdad Bob (circa 2003). Please See The Collected Quotations of "Baghdad Bob" The Iraqi Minister of Information www.cfif.org/htdocs/freedomline/.../in.../baghdad_bob.htm
16. For Iran,”negotiation” and “compromise” are euphemisms ...
Ron B. ,   Lod   (09.12.09)
For Iran,”negotiation” and “compromise” are euphemisms for shame and surrender. In the new Cold War shaping up between Islamism and the democratic West, Israel holds the front line. Once again, the values of the opposing sides are irreconcilable. In the Arab and Muslim order, power is absolute and has to be victorious, so “negotiation” and “compromise” are euphemisms for shame and surrender. Islamist Iran has made itself the driving force. The terrorist movements Hizbullah and Hamas are both Iranian satellites, and their presence on Israel’s borders ensures that Iran can already engage in terrorism on its own terms and at times of its own choosing. 17. watch this
ben Ish   (09.12.09)
I predict Iran's proposals to talk WILL be accepted and a new negotiations round will be started, thus defeating the illusionary "deadline" in September. It will happen. This will extend the well-established process of talking about talking, and threatening to continue talking. And this time they are really going to seriously talk, so you better watch out. I think it's ridiculous no one noticed that this "deadline" in September had absolutely no consequences whatsoever. Or if they did, they said nothing about it. What we can tell by Iran offering to talk now, before the fake deadline expired is that they need substantially more time and less monitoring. Both Iran and US are working together on this. And the process will continue until Iran has a working device loaded onto an MRBM.
18. NOTHING HAS CHANGED
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (09.12.09)
Since the time Iran presented its counter proposals.Whether you like it or not,it is not a one-way traffic that just because so and so says it, that neccessarily has to happen. We are on the 12th.September and the latest news that we have is........Vit,Argus and Mike....hope you are reading..............the EU representative Solana seeks eeting wih the Iranian Nuclear head, yes, that is the news. You seemed to be in great hurry to finish the matter. It did no happen nor is it likely to happen.Have a good weekend!!!!
19. I TOLD YOU SO
ben Ish   (09.12.09)
This today. Sooner than I expected. This should have been a delayed story, by two weeks, but found the statement today: "We're going to assess where we are during the course of this month," Crowley said. "Then at the end of the year, we'll be able to draw some conclusions as to how successful our engagement offer has been." I TOLD YOU SO. IT IS A COOPERATIVE PLAN BY BOTH SIDES.
