1. As an Incentive
Excellent commentary. Obama has said, "To be honest, I don't feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures that have been honored by this prize" (like arch war-criminal Henry Kissinger, for example. Ha!) However it must be said, for all his crimes, Kissinger stood for detante, something his successors in the Ford and Reagan cult could not tolerate.
As an American and a gentile, I am greatly heartened by this kind of writing in the Israeli press, and am well aware of the strong peace contingency there. I wanted to write to reaffirm my lifelong love the the noble intelligent and courageous Jewish people, by pointing out that the writer of this commentary is not alone in his views: 78% of American Jews voted for Obama, and are Liberals like me, because they know the dark side of repression better than any people, and because they are an international people, unwillingly but undeniably.
My hope is that Obama can finish his course, and not be rewarded for his courage with a bullet, as were JFK, RFK, MLK, and Yitzchak Rabin.

2. Nobel peace prize has lost all meaning
This prize has last all of it's significance, now awarding it to someone who has yet to do anything of note. If in a couple of years he could actually have a chance of earning a peace prize, now he will never be able to earn a prize for an actual achievement.

3. insenetive would be offer prize not
give it away, of corse this is stupid to give Nobama award for virtually doind nothing, only charge more taxes from his fellows Americans.

4. Don't Care If US Is Loved
or hated around the world.
I want the US to be strong enough to keep US citizens in peace and to support our allies.
If this prize was given as an incentive for 'coming back to the UN approved fold', it's a pretty bad reason to give an award.

5. Nobel committee has cheapend itself. Big mistake.
The general consensus of everybody I talked to was the exact same as that in the media around the world.
What did Obama do to deserve a Nobel Prize?
The best answer is that he gave a few good speeches. That's it.
Obama would have served himself, his country, and the world much better by politely refusing the prize and telling the committee to come back in a few years and judge him on his results, not his potential.

6. And the prize goes to...
All I can say if the President of America needs an " incentive" to push his policy forward....G-D help the citizens of that fine country, and by extension all the citizens of the western world.

9. UnfortuNATELY IT REALLY HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PEACE.
Obama is just another corrupt phony politician, who threw Israel under the bus. Oh my, how you forget so quickly..(should I post the Haaretz link?), the peace prize from one of the most anti-semitic scandinavian and European countries?
Norway now has one of the strongest global currencies, while the Marxists politician de-value ours to around 50th? Hello!
