1. the left in Israel must be eradicated completely!
left = destruction ,   of israel   (10.11.09)
2. "foreign workers will blemish Israel"
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.11.09)
yes, only those of the highest quality are currently israelis. wouldn't want to lower it any by people who have high work ethics and humility.
3. make foreign workers kids citizens
BEAR ,   ZEFAT   (10.11.09)
Why? we don't have enough goyim here now?
4. Foreign Children
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (10.11.09)
Maybe Israel needs to take a close look at the mess we have in the US with regard to this situation. While we have millions of foreign workers and illegal immigrants, the children born in the US to either are automatically US citizens. As reasonable as this may sound, here's the kicker: The parents, being here illegally or ineligible for citizenship based on their visa status, can be deported or asked to leave, while the children cannot. Where do you go from there without tearing families apart or making virtual orphans out of children???? Wouldn't the system work much better, if children were only citizens of a given country, if both of their parents are citizens of that country.
5. Revoke Minister Braverman citizenship and deport him also!
lunatic lefties are ,   dangerous!   (10.11.09)
6. foreign children = Israeli diplomatic children
(10.12.09)
When an Israeli diplomat serves abroad he or she are basically foreign workers living in a foreign country. When these diplomats have children born abroad they are not automatically made citizens of the countries their parents are working in. So exactly why is it that Israel or any other country for that matter must grant citizenship to the children of foreign workers? Foreign children along with their illegal worker parents should be sent back to their countries of origin. There is absolutely no reason for providing special care and services for these people our system is already over burdened and there really is no point in providing these self serving economic immigrants with better services. Send them all home immediately!
7. Foreign workers are not asylum seekers, economic migrants
Doron Katz ,   Australia   (10.12.09)
Sorry mate, i dont see the equivalence between the Vietnam boatpeople and a Thai or Chinese migrant worker overstaying her visa and leaving the country without his or her kids.
8. Any more wisdom quotes from Braver Man?
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (10.12.09)
doesn't appear to be too brave, in order to appease as much as possible
9. I agree with the Minister!!
Israeli 2   (10.12.09)
He did not say "convert them". He simply requested them to become Israeli. Baruch Hashem we still have food enough to feed a few more mouths.
10. The Prophet Ezra in the Bible told the Jews who returned to
Rivkah   (10.12.09)
Jerusalem from Babylon to put away foreign wives and the children by them. That does not mean the Jewish parent should not support the children who were sent back to their mothers' native land with the mothers. It means separation of the Jewish heritage from the Gentile heritage. Israel was not reformed after two thousand years for Gentiles to dilute its heritage until Israel is no longer Jewish. But on the other hand, Boaz married a widow from Moab named Ruth and their son Obed was the father of Jesse who was the father of King David. What is the critical factor? Religious conversion that is real. Ruth converted to her mother-in-law Naomi's religion and followed her back to Naomi's homeland. She gave up the idolatrous practices of Moab. How many Filipino children of Israelis gave up Roman Catholicism? Israel is a Jewish homeland but it could become a mixed multitude's homeland. Lebanon was supposed to be a Christian homeland, but look at it now. It is a Muslim terrorist stronghold and its Christian heritage is past history. It is no longer the homeland for Christians to flee to that is was supposed to be like Israel was a homeland for Jews to flee to.
11. Rules are rules and ultimately the most humane
Vered, Israel   (10.12.09)
The reason Israel is a success is because it is Jewish. People were motivated to build Israel out of Jewish sentiments. Because it is our homeland, people from all over the world put in time, effort and money to make it what it is. If we agree to let in foreign workers for a specific amount of time, they must leave after the time has expired, even if it makes them sad. People change countries all the time and always have. It cannot be considered intolerable. That is not cruel. If Israel ceases to be Jewish, it'll just be another loser Middle Eastern country that nobody cares about. Then everybody loses. We can't be all things to all people. And if we try, we'll lose it all. In this case, we can't share. Acknowledging this doesn't make us bad people. But we can be ethical hosts while the foreign workers are here, and bid them a fond farewell. If they like us so much, maybe they'll try to promote real change in their countries of origin. One thing is for sure, all civilized countries in the world are suffering terribly because of their immigration problems. And we have another issue on top of mere immigration: our Jewishness. If Israel is not Jewish, everybody loses.
12. NO ! ISRAEL WILL BECOME LIKE EUROPE A CATASTROPHE
Pierre ,   Belgium   (10.12.09)
as a friend of Israel i wanted to tell you that
13. foreign workers + erev rav
eli ,   tel aviv   (10.12.09)
we have more than enough erev rav already; this is the left's attempt to further dilute the jewish charachter of israel - first through phony conversions for the russians, then more gay rights in the education system; now if we further flood our small country with more and more - today its only 1200 - then it will be in the thousands; the elites think they will get cheap domestic cleaners and meteplot from this pool of poor people - it will come back to bite us in unimaginable ways if this problem is mishandled
14. deportation
mary ,   netanya   (10.12.09)
hi i think i agree with you cause everybody want bring child and should stay here
15. illegal migrant workers
Joe ,   T/A Israel   (10.12.09)
There is not a single solitary reason why law breakers should be rewarded with citizenship - not one. The Thais,Filipinos etc elected with their own free will to break the law, they decided to take the law into their own hands and stay, they broke their agreement (knowingly) and now are demanding to stay with their kids - this is a disgrace. If we are to have a state which upholds the law, then who wants a state that rewards law breakers? These kids will go back with their parents and become part and parcel of their own society, they are not zionists, they are not here to enrich the state, they are here simply because Ma and Pa wanted to exploit the law and to see how stupid we in Israel are. If we do not send them home then the next 5,000 are going to be waiting in the wings then the next 10,000 and so on We have to show migrant workers that they are welcome to stay to the end of their visa's and then they are OBLIGATED to go - we are not obligated to reward them with citizenship They must be deported or the law is an ass Joe
16. 15 - enforce the laws = EVERYTHING gets WAY more expensive
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (10.12.09)
they are brought in for cheap labor so you can buy your house, apartment, food, etc cheaper. before that, it was palestinians paid cheap. would you prefer to pay for everything at full price by workers who are paid according to the wage laws? enforcing the laws will cost you and everyone big. that's why the politicians are hesitant to do it.
