Abbas wasn't being a wussie, he was just being smart. Unfortunately for him, his first shot of genius may be his last, since he's caved in to the Pal demands to use the report against Israel. The problem is that Goldstone says very clearly in the report that the Pals committed war crimes. And if you extrapolate what Goldstone wrote, it's clear that the Pals committed war crimes for years before Cast Lead. Abbas probably saw that and didn't want to put Fatah leaders in a position where they'd be arrested and put on trial for war crimes. Now, Israel may be able to take advantage of the Goldstone report and get Hamas and Fatah leaders to be put on trial for their crimes against humanity. Cool stuff if we get the right lawyers to see it through. Here's what Goldstone concluded: "From the facts available, the Mission finds that the rocket and mortars attacks, launched by Palestinian armed groups in Gaza, have caused terror in the affected communities of southern Israel and in Israel as a whole. Maybe Goldstein is right? Maybe war crimes were commited? The only way to know is to have a trial. Israel should immediately send the people (Barak, Olmert, Livni, Mazuz) allegedly responsible for the war crimes to trial where they can prove their innocence. If they succeed, it is over.
