Jewish women should shun teh ceremony and accept the yoke of their mitzvot, let them take on teh Mitzvot with Joy, especially teh 3 special mitzvot for women, Chana" Clallah, Nidah and Hadlakat Nerot. Let them be the guardians of Kashrut at home and outside, let them be the educators who teach their children to say Modeh Ani and Torah Tziva, let them enhance teh shabbat and Yomim Tovim. This is what Bat Mitzvah is all about. An Aliyah to teh Torah for them is meaningless, and so is a candle lighting ceremony and the other foolishness invented by secular influences. As for boys the ceremony is also meaningless, they need to celbrate Bar Mitzvah by putting on Tefillin daily , keeping kosher, studying Torah Keeping shabbos etc.
