hand's are empty because Israel doesn't hold the key for Turkey to enter the EU. As I've stated before only an ignorant person would state that the EU is pro-Israel. However, the Europeans are also spin masters and take anything to there advantage when it suits them. It suits them that Turkey not be part of the EU. Literally every single European I have talked to, from primarily a leftists and in many cases holding anti-Israel perspectives, does not want Turkey in the EU, fact. The only reason why there is no referendum on this is for two reasons: 1. Europeans don't want to be labelled racists when overwhelming majority will vote against Turkey joining. 2. The consequences of the large local Turkish populations possibly rioting have to be taken into consideration. The fact is that while the EU getting Schadenfraude with this current breakdown of Israeli-Turkish relation, the fact is that it because it's a win-win situation. Israel loses an ally and basically has bridge of any form to the Muslim world. And they can use as an example of Turkish religious-nationalists-anti-semitic fanaticism that is not compatible with the post-state liberalism that the EU wishes to continue. So continue to enjoy the breaking and I'm certain closing our of respective embassies. Because while the road to Brussels isn't through Jerusalem, this will definitely become a weapon the Europeans will use to block off your entry. So enjoy pointing out Israel has empty hands. At least we're not knocking on the gates of Vienna like beggars.
33. The Turk government intentionally provoking her nation

The Turk government intentionally provoking her nation against Israel and I believe this new policy will bring disastrous to that nation like we have seen what did happen to Iran, My sympathy for minority Turk whom are well educated and can not do any thing to prevent this disastrous.
34. Another proof that Islam brings the worst of any people
Ramayana ,   ND, India   (10.14.09)
A good lesson to the Israelis: beware of the Muslim bearing gifts! Israel should have frozen the flow of ANY flow of military and strategig know-how to Turkey, as soon as Muslims stole the elections there. Muslims are back-stabbers both at the personal and national level, and Turkey is only the latest proof. There will be another military putsch in Turkey for the simplecreason that the Muslim cancer can only be removed by cutting it out, not by appeasing it. Turkey is on a certain road to doom and national suicide and the only ones able to save it are the sane Turks. In this new drama, Israel can only be an alert spectator, ready to act whenever this drama endangered it's national security and strategic interests. The false Turks posting here are known Iranian agitators and their venomous messages only emphasize my claims that Islam is a cancer which breeds on hatred, racism and barbarism.

Jason ,   Israel   (10.14.09)
Turkey is the one who will lose and Europe needs no help - they are not idiots! Go ahead and pander to the extremists who care nothing for truth and freedom = the opposite will occur and turkey will go down the path of the arab states stuck in the dark ages, instead of joining the rest of the world. Or do you still cling to the days of empire? We have re-grown all the trees you tore down by now....
36. Turks
Kirk   (10.14.09)
The Turks are moslem crusaders who seized and occupied the Anatolian plateau. They murdered raped and enslaved Christans for over 500 years. Their atrocities scream out to heaven for a cure. Their bestiality creates a stench that cannot be dilluted.

Stuff ,   Bratislava Slovak Re   (10.14.09)
A nice pave on the way to the EU-Generalgouvernement. The movie tells the story of military intervention of turkish military forces against the kurds. To overcome the concerns of harsh reaktions of the Governement, they masqueraded the miilitary forces as israelis and the kurds - they exists as far as I know now about 5 years in turkey - as filistines/palestines. Don't worry, it's camouflage of "Geschichtsaufarbeitung", it has nothing to do with real history... Stuff

39. Modern time collective blood libel!!! Thanks to regular...
Yardenah ,   Kinneret (Kibbutz)   (10.15.09)
Israel bashers - Jews and non-Jews alike - official state-blood libel is now also permitted, some feel. First, the semi-official refusal by Sweden to condemn an anti-Jewish blood libel. Now a state official blood libel by Turkey. It is only a matter of time before Jews will be attacked in the streets of Turkey...
40. # 1 And Turkey thinks it can be part of Europe?
David Olesker ,   Jerusalem Israel   (10.14.09)
Unfortunately, I think this kind of thing would fit in very well in large parts of Europe.
41. Opinion from a Turk...
Peace ,   US   (10.15.09)
First of all, many of you guys are completely right that the TV show is absurd! I have no idea how it is allowed in Turkey. I know it does not make any sense to hear that from me, but I am really SORRY about it. Not that I do not believe that BOTH parties[meaning Palestine and Israel] did stupid [and inhuman] things. However, many countries [including Turkey] do time to time inhuman activities [not that I accept them, but we know this is the reality.] Instead of trying to find peaceful solutions, TV shows like this one increase hate. We already have enough "hate" in the world, especially in middle east... Sorry again! I hope soon turkish society will react against this TV show; it has only been a couple of days since it was aired. [I believe so] On the other hand, one TV show [not that I want to undermine the absurdity/stupidity of the show] should not generate that much "hate" on the side of Israeli people. I have read some of the comments, and they [some of them at least] too are absurd. In order to explain/defend or express your feelings against such a failure TV show, at least "you" should be mindful. In the end, the point that we all [as humankind] want to make is that we want to stop hate! Since we are claiming that, at least we should act accordingly. Peace... a Turk

Ramayana ,   ND, India   (10.15.09)
Your pompous attempt to "intellectuality" does not change the facts in post #36 What about looking up "Islamo-leftist" or "Islamo-fascist" for us? Or better yet, "Eurabia". Or even better the "religion of peace" oxymoron? I guess it's enough grammar for you for one day, huh?

Are you quite sure, or are you just reverting to typical Swedish neo-Nazi type? I note for the record that when Turkey withdrew its invitation to Israel to participate in air force exercises, the United States promptly declined to participate as well. I note further for the record that when Ahmedinejad invoked his hate-filled speech in the United Nations, nearly all of the members of the European Union got up and walked out in protest. (Of course, Sweden did not, nor did Norway -- but, let's face it: who cares?) I know what happened in Chile today. I also know that the Israeli flag proudly flew for the first time ever in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. (On a side note here: Not to gloat excessively, but I have been saying for months that Israel would not seek, nor require "permission" from the United States for an air corridor over Iraq should Israel opt for a pre-emptive strike against Iran (and all indications are that that is precisely what Israel will do) -- who needs Iraq when Saudi Arabia or one of the Gulf Emirates would be more than happy to provide Israel the air corridor and refueling on the ground. And today the Israeli flag was raised in Abu Dhabi. (I hate to say I told you so, but just can't resist.) The Turks have no respect for the European Union; fortunately for Israel, a good many member states of the European Union remember all too well the Nazis -- they will be horrified at the savagery of the false depictions aired on Turkish television, and the invitation to Turkey to join the European Union will be revoked. Outstanding loans will be called in. Turkish funds in EU member banks will be attached pending a full and complete and open apology to Israel. Remember you heard this here first, too. What kind of an "ally" is a country that would air such despicable and outrageous contrivations and present them as "actual footage?" What kind of an "ally" is a country that openly flouts what has for twenty years been a good strategic relationship with Israel in favor of closer ties to Iran and Syria? By the way, who cares about natural gas? Back in February, Israel discovered a natural gas field of five trillion cubic feet off the coast of Haifa. Read it and weep: http://www.oilinisrael.net/oil-in-israel-articles/haifa-gas-discovery-bumped-to-5-trillion-cubic-feet Natural gas is not a problem. Tee hee. There goes THAT leverage! The discovery coincided nicely with the Turks ramped-up criticism of Israel. The Iranians aren't too happy either, what with Israel's discovery amounting to the fourth or fifth single largest natural gas field in the world. Coupled with Israel being the nation that can boast the most effective and significant advancements in solar technology, energy just isn't going to be a problem in Israel for -- oh, eight hundred, a thousand years?

The next to cut ties with Israel -- I fervently hope and pray -- will be your nasty little country. Closely followed by Norway. Neither of you will be missed. I note for the record that Norway's North Sea oil reserves are running out. (As is, coincidentally, Iran's oil reserves.) Gotta quick question for you, if you wouldn't mind. You don't happen to be a direct lineal descendant of Alex Wenner Gren, are you? I'm betting you are. Even if not by familial descent, surely by mind bent. I should make you research the name, but I'll save you the trouble. Alex Wenner Gren was a notorious Nazi, who brokered arms deals on behalf of Nazi Germany and even engineered -- together with Vidkun Quisling -- the Nazi occupation of Norway. Norway, you see, was an essential conduit between the iron mines of Sweden and Nazi Germany. Why didn't the Nazis invade Sweden? Was it because of Sweden's declared neutrality? Oh goodness, no. Belgium the Netherlands and Luxembourg all declared neutrality during World War II, for all the good it did them. The fact of the matter is that the Nazis did not invade Sweden because they did not have to. The Swedes will ready, willing and able collaborators. A lot of people know about the fraud perpetrated upon history by the Swedes; ever wonder why Jewish concentration camp survivors found it necessary to assassinate Count Folke Bernadotte? Now you know. He was right up there, hugger-mugger, with his Nazi masters. Have a really nice night, Alex.
48. This is from secular Turkey? Wow.

This is not anti semitism they say, this is anti zionism or anti Israelism only.

Disgusting. How low the Turks have gone. They don't hate Jews only Israli government that is defending and protecting them from terror.
50. To Kurds from Kurdistan - greetings from a Jewish in Israel
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (10.15.09)
The people of Israel are with you and your struggle for independence. I have always criticized my government's decision to sell arms to Turkey because I know too well what they were intended for. During conversations face to face with Turkish, Persian and Iraqi friends I have argued with them that their countries need to allow you freedom and sovereignty. After some hesitation they agreed with me that this is the right thing to do, therefore you have non-Kurdish supporters in these countries too, so keep up your struggle because in the next 2 decades an independent Kurdistan will emerge.
51. Turkey's Betrayal
margot ,   austin texas usa   (10.15.09)
The new government in Turkey has a goals: to recover status as a regional power. If this means betraying old alliances, they are willing to do it, and the fact is that many of the Turkish people have long hated the Israelis. It is extremely stupid of Israelis to go to Turkey for vacation given this, and frankly it is not even safe. The policy in Turkey is entirely self-serving, and they are getting cozy with Russia and Iran---a dangerous change in policy. Israel would be wise not to sell them any military equipment or they will find it used against Israelis in the future.

Oh, wait. As opposed to the Moslem warlords who run the opium and heroin trade out of Aghanistan? As opposed to the Syrians, whose purpose in invading the Beka'a Valley in Lebanon was to raise desperately-needed cash by taking over the hashish trade? The Arabs serving time in Israeli prisons fall largely into three broad categories (note I exclude those convicted of terrorism-related crimes or serving administrative detention; those fall under a completely different category; I refer here to common garden-variety Arab criminals): the smallest group have committed property-related crimes such as theft or burglary; tje second smallest group have committed violent crimes such as assault, battery and murder. But by far and away the largest group of Arabs imprisoned in Israeli prisons have been arrested for -- yes, you guessed it -- DRUG TRAFFICKING. What say you to that, oh Sami the sanctimonious? What say you to that?

JB, you are indeed prescient. From this evening's headlines: "In wake of Egypt's effort to strike truce between rival Palestinian factions, Hamas hardliner warns his group adamant on vindication from Palestinian president's claims that Hamas leaders went into hiding during Gaza war." Sit back -- here come the fireworks! Did anyone bring popcorn?

57. #28 Turk... Give me a break.
Tahl ,   Ashdod, Israel   (10.15.09)
Your country's government, religious establishments, and the media - constantly incite against Israel, saying the most horrible allegations and blood libels against us - and you accuse US? of "arrogance, boldness, hate, bigotry towards Turkey"? Your hypocrisy is astounding. Whatever negative sentiments we display towards Turkey are fully justified, given how your country behaves against us. Furthermore, our critical opinions are certainly much less militant and much less hateful than the Turks' opinions about Israel, that's for sure! And FYI - unlike you people who hate us just for being Israelis, we have nothing against Turks. We do not hate Turks who do not hate us. We want you to be our friends, yet it is you who keeps insulting and demeaning us, without Israel doing anything against Turkey! "Atheist Turk" who sometimes writes here, is a great example of a sane, wonderful Turk, and it's a shame your country doesn't have more people like him.

I can't see why Europeans would vote for Turkey to be part of us if this is how it interacts with allied countries, e.g. Israel and the Jewish people.
