Israeli café chain boycotting Turkish coffee     Meirav Crystal
1. Good for you!!! Time we stand up for ourselves.
Lior ,   Israel   (10.16.09)
2. a good start, sorta, boycott Turkish government
Keep the boycott to those entities that are anti-Israel, the government and those other governments and organizations that are Anti-Israeli/Anti-semitic. Try to make the distinction.
David ,   Boston, USA   (10.16.09)
3. We Jews need to grow a SPINE AND STOP
PRETENDING ITS RAINING WHEN THEY PISS ON OUR HEADS. The Isreal under the Olmerts, the Sharons, The Peres, the Rabins of the past 15 years allowed us to have our enemies piss on our heads while we pretended it was raining. I am glad that we finally are starting to stand up for our rights. Our enemies want us dead, and we have always had this ghetto complex that you can buy your way out of trouble. Well guess what you cant, you got at time to be mean like a junk yard dog. We are fed up with the anti-semites of the world and we are not going to take it any longer. If they have a problem with that well its too friggin bad.
Al   (10.16.09)
4. Turkish Coffee isn't really "Turkish" - It's how its made
(10.16.09)
5. this is a good start...
but any Israeli who has any self respect should avoid the "cheap" vacation deals in Turkey
reality check ,   Tel Aviv   (10.16.09)
6. yes, it's time.....
we have to stop travelling to Turkey also..... it is cheaper... so what? they can lie about our soldiers, our sons and brothers and fathers, and we will still go to Antalia???????
dana rothschild ,   jerusalem, israel   (10.16.09)
7. What will happen to.....
.... Cafez in Jaffa just opposit the Saraya? It claims to have a Turkish concept. Apart from a bottle of Yeni Raki I could not find anything Turkish there. So is the coffee, Ilan's boycotting really Turkish?
Atheist Turk ,   Germany   (10.16.09)
8. SO CHILDISH :) GUYS ! WE DONT DIE FOR MONEY AS YOU !
ATİLLA KARAGÖZOĞLU   (10.16.09)
9. how about cancelling planned vacation in Turkey?
Jacob ,   Munich   (10.16.09)
10. Well done.....
Ilan's.....an excellent example. I hope that others follow suit and not just with Turkey. The time has come for Jews worldwide to unite and take a stand once and for all.
Poitcha ,   Israel   (10.16.09)
11. From now on, I won't drink Cola anymore
I'll just drink beer instead. cheers
Evren ,   Izmir/Turkey   (10.16.09)
12. The Turks were decent people before islum took over. As a
secular nation, they were just decent people, many of whom went to mosques where militant crazies were not known. Now Turkey turns to become a nutcase of religious terrorism, too bad.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (10.16.09)
13. Ahem, and when others boycott Israel?
Then they are antisemitic and who knows what. You just branded the whole nation with this act. And what is Israel constantly fighting against? Why, against branding the whole nation! "If there were crimes, they were individual!" What hypocrisy. Now you can continue to be one-sided and cry when everybody else do the same. Oh, I know, we will be antisemitic, but you will be O.K. and nice. And somebody wonders why people do not like Jews.
Brad ,   USA   (10.16.09)
14. MAKE A REAL DOCU. ABT ARMENIAN MASACRE BY TURKISH BARBARIANS
Israel, you should produce a REAL film about a REAL subject: The TUKISH TROOPS MASSACRE-ING INNOCENT ARMENIAN CIVILIANS - which took place in the early part of the last century. Just as a MAJOR HOLOCAUST killed our own people during WWII, this smaller Holocaust was horrendous as well. Let the turks roll around in THAT REALITY OF WHAT THEY HAVE DONE for awhile. It is almost as bad as the DAMAGE THEY ARE CREATING NOW with this latest EVIL propaganda against Israel - which we ALL know will be used as a real piece in the arab world for their never ending, revisionist, EVIL propaganda against Israel as well. Shalom!
Edvaard Stephan ,   Oslo   (10.16.09)
15. Attila the Crack Head, it is good that you do not love money
because in the next 10 years under your Islamist government your standard of living will go down by 50% as in all other Islamist countries. For a typical example look at your neighbor to the East. this will certainly put a smile on your twisted with Antisemitic hate face
Genuine Tosefta ,   Tveria   (10.16.09)
16. Israeli Chain Boycotting Turkish Coffee
This should be the start of something bigger. Start with the coffee, boycott the country and STOP selling weapons systems that will only be shared with the Iranians & Syrians and used against the Israelis.
David ,   USA   (10.16.09)
17. Atilla the Hun
What an incredibly stupid comment!! Try growing out of your perpetual adolescence and be a mature adult! No you'll die supporting Hezb'allah and Iran while they take control of your country. You desrerve it! Good luck imbecile!
JB ,   CANADA   (10.16.09)
18. Proud of
finally an Israeli i company stepping up to make a statement about Turkey's disgusting fall into becoming a pro terror anti semitic state . I too will refuse to buy or use anything from Turkey .. lets hope more jews and friends of Israel follow Ilan.
thrilled ,   zion   (10.16.09)
19. Symbolic, but the real money is elsewhere
A report a few days ago indicated that shipments TO Turkey are down some 40%, as many there have instituted their own personal boycott of Israel. Moreover, overdue bills are up some 90% - meaning Turks are stiffing Israel on money owed, which makes them thieves. It's understandable that Israel not only respond in kind, but respond to their own grievances against Turkey's actions. Many appliances sold in Israel are made in Turkey, so check out alternatives made in the US, South Korea, or even friendlier European countries. But Israel should also put under review military systems Turkey seeks to procure - those drones, for example. Considering how close Turkey is getting to Syria and Iran, we don't want those technologies falling into the wrong hands.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (10.16.09)
20. It is not Coffe from Turkey, Does Italy export Pizza?
Many French named products produced everywhere in the world not france, When you boycott Itallian Pizza or Boycot Hamburger they are not done in their country of original name. Turkish coffe is also a style and need not Turkish import So you are very funny!
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (10.16.09)
21. Another boycott:Ynetnews cencuring my talkbacks
That is only boycott I felt from Israel At least 5 of my postings were not allowed and not published. Wov, Turkey will soon knee and beg you because such a hard boycot on me!
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (10.16.09)
22. Excellent!! Support Ilan's buy there more!!
This is the way to go. Every Company that boycotts Turkish goods will have double support here and abroad.
mo ,   israel/south africa   (10.16.09)
23. Lucky for Turkish coffee
Otherwise, you would have claimed it as part of Israeli traditional dishes like homous and falafel whom you stole from the Palestinians and Lebanese. Even then, you can't make good homous and that's why Israelis go to Arab restaurants for it.
Cynic #2   (10.16.09)
24. Good news, we need to start boycotting the muslim world!
Me and my friends over here, we always check the origin of a food product if it could be suspected to be non European. If it originates from a muslim country, we don't buy it. If it is from Israel, we buy twice the amount of that we need. It gives us a good feeling doing what is right, for what it is worth.
Johnny ,   Stockholm Sweden   (10.16.09)
25. I HAVE STOOPED EATING TURKEY
But it could be a bleak Xmas..
LAWRENCE RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED ISRAEL   (10.16.09)
26. Excellent Move!
Kol HaKavod! And we should support Ilan's Cafe for taking a stand and boycotting "Turkish" coffee. It doesn't matter if it's really "Turkish" or not, it's the principle and the concept that is important. If it says "Turkish," then we boycott it.
Shoshi ,   Jerusalem   (10.16.09)
27. #14 I think you misunderstand...
its not boiled coffee they are stopping. Its coffee imported from Turkey. You can boil Sumatra all you want. And I think its the grinding that make it "Turkish" not the boiling. I myself prefer filter coffee. OK ok what if we call "turkish coffee" "Liberty Coffeee?" How very American!
Golan ,   SL   (10.16.09)
28. "Almost anti-Semitic"? If it wasn't for Israeli knowhow,
Turkey would still be on par with, oh, perhaps Yemen, or maybe Tunisian Armed Forces. Let them enjoy their 'Muslim Brotherhood', they can all bow down to their Shia god in Tehran. "...and the enemy shall come from the North."
shneerz ,   US   (10.16.09)
29. boycott
For my part, I'm going to stop eating turkey.
Laurence ,   Santa Ana, USA   (10.16.09)
